For a full week, Asonia was stuck in bed. She needed the rest, but not the boredom. After the official announcement was sent out, she was moved to Zindaki, where the crew of the Enterprise had been staying. They watched over the planet, and made sure the Klingons didn't destroy anything.

It made her smile when she heard Jim and Zaclyn arguing over who would marry her off. It was very entertaining. Especially when Spock and McCoy had to intervene. It was eventually decided Zaclyn would walk her down the aisle, and Kirk would perform the service.

Given Pavel was from earth, and that was where Asonia grew up, the wedding would be a mix between Zindaki and earthen traditions.

Which meant she would be able to wear a wedding dress, and not the robes.

When Asonia was well enough, she was plunged into color schemes, and taste testing. She had help from Fareilah, who quickly decided she would help choose the cake.

"Ow!"

"Sorry mistress."

"Ow! Quit sticking me with pins!" Asonia complained, jumping as the woman stuck another one into the fabric. She was currently getting fitted for her dress. And no matter what, the tailor kept on sticking her.

"I am very sorry, your Highness, but it is inevitable." She said. The tailor was an older woman, with extremely curly, grey hair, and amber-brown eyes. She had a grandmotherly way about her, and she was very good at her job.

"It's okay, Liz. Just try not to draw blood, okay?"

Liz nodded, a smile on her wrinkled face. She made all of the clothes Asonia wore, and she trusted her more than she did Zaclyn. There was just something about her the elderly woman that made her more like family, than a friend.

"Hey Liz, how old are you?"

"My age, empress, is a thing to be proud of. I am 68." She replied, looking up at Asonia.

"So, that means you knew my mother? And maybe my grandmother?"

"Yes. I knew both. Your grandmother very well."

"How so?" Asonia asked, putting her arms up, to make it easier to pin the seams.

"She was my sister."

"What? Sister?"

"Yes. I was the oldest, but she had the golden eyes. While she was trained to rule, I followed my own path. When she was finally coronated, she made me the royal seamstress. To keep me close, you know?" Liz explained, her eyes glossing over with tears.

"What was her name?"

"Kilyn. She married a politician named Zar'gwei. Your father was named after him."

"Then, what was my mother like?" She asked, putting her arms down as Liz moved to pin the hem of the dress.

"Very much like you. You have her hair, and her cheekbones." Liz said, as Asonia tried to imagine her. "Her eyes though, they were beautiful. She had lime green eyes."

"She sounds like she was very beautiful."

"She was. Jaiya was very kind. She always put others before herself, and she had so much compassion. You have no idea how similar the two of you are."

Asonia wiped a tear from her eye. "I remember having a similar conversation with her. She was nervous about how well she'd do as empress."

"She had doubts?"

"Oh yes. Too many, if you ask me. But I want to know about you. Tell me about that young man you're marrying."

Asonia smiled. "His name's Pavel Chekov. He's a pretty sweet guy. We met on the Enterprise when he got beat up. I was a doctor then, and he was my patient. We became pretty close friends. Then, I got hurt pretty bad, and was in a coma. He stayed with me until I woke up. That was when I realized how much I liked him."

"Now, I'm almost done. Could you put your arms up for me?" Liz interrupted, and Asonia complied.

"When I was getting ready to leave to come here, he ran up and asked me to stay. But I had a responsibility here. I didn't see him again until the Enterprise came for those diplomatic meetings to Earth.... Which I still haven't gone too...."

Liz finished up, and helped her out from the almost finished dress, and Asonia put her usual robes back on. "Don't worry, Zaclyn said you should be heading out there after the wedding."

She nodded, and walked out, feeling jittery. There was only two days until the wedding, and she was nervous. What if something went wrong? What if someone objected?

What if Pavel didn't want to be the emperor? What if he liked his life on the Enterprise more? What if he decided to leave her?

Little did she know, Pavel was having the same thoughts.

~

"So? How do you feel?" Sulu asked his best friend. "Do you feel like a king?"

"I'll be an emperor, and no. I just feel like me. Vwhat if she doesn't want to marry me anymore? Vwhat if I don't make a good ruler? Vwhat if the people don't like me?"

"Calm down Pavel. They will love you. I mean, just look at how much they like Asonia. Besides, you're like, the guy version of her. And trust me, she loves you." Jim but in, eating a Zindaki pear.

Chekov eyes the purple fruit wearily, as the tailor finished his last alteration. Zindaki pears were a very strange fruit. They looked kind of like plums, and were very juicy. The only thing wrong with them, was the fact they tasted like chicken.

"How are you eating that?"

"I think it tastes pretty good." Jim replied, taking a huge, juicy bite. "It tastes like fried chicken." Both Pavel and Sulu gagged a little.

"I can't wait for the wedding." Jim said, practically fangirling over the thought. "You two are going to have ADORABLE children!!"

Chekov turned bright red at the mention of having children. Knowing Zindaki customs, having kids would come very soon after marriage. It was a weird thought for Pavel.

'Will I be a good father?' He thought to himself.

'I think you will.' A voice replied, a voice he knew very well. 'Besides, I want to have kids. Maybe four. That way, they won't get lonely.'

'Four kids? That doesn't seem like enough... I grew up with five brothers alone.'

'Holy smokes Pavel! Are they invited to the wedding?' Asonia asked, and he smiled.

'Yes. My entire family is coming. Mainly because I'm the first one to get married, and to become an emperor... That's big.'

'It sure is.'

Pavel was shaken from his mental conversation when the tailor accidentally poked him with the needle.

Suddenly, he realized something. His crazy, loud, Russian family was coming. And Asonia wasn't prepared to meet them yet....
