Chapter 1

(Present day)

Captain James T. Kirk walked onto the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and sat in his chair. He loved the chair. It was comfortable, it gave him a perfect view of the entire room, and, (and this was his personal favorite) it had buttons.

So many buttons, he didn't even know what half of them did. But he didn't mind, he could ask Spock if he honestly wanted to know.

"Sir, we're receiving a transmission from Starfleet headquarters."

"Put them on screen, Uhura." Jim said, and the big screen in front of the bridge showed the face of Admiral Mira. She was a very beautiful women, with dark skin, and brown eyes, one wouldn't believe she was in her fifties if it wasn't for her greying hair.

She smiled. "Hello captain. I have a mission for you, if you're up to it."

"You know I'm up to it, Admiral. What have you got for us this time?"

"We have a diplomat you need to escort here. She's the ruler of her planet, and they've been in the process of joining the federation for the last four years. You think you can handle that?"

"Of course! What's her name?" Kirk asked, sitting up a bit straighter in his chair.

"Her name is Asonia Geay, she is the empress of the Zindaki empire. I thought you'd like this mission, considering she was once apart of your crew." Chekov's head shot up immediately from the navigation console.

He turned to look at a screen on his left, pretending to be solving a math problem. Mary. They were picking up Mary.

It had been four years since she left. Three since she took charge of the her planet, due to the unexpected death of her father.

The custom for mourning a dead family or friend, is two weeks of silence. No talking. Out of respect, he participated.

Some people thought him rude for not talking, but his friends understood, and explained every time.

"You know we'll do it. When do you want us to head that way? We're kinda close now, but the Zindaki system is two weeks from earth at maximum warp. Do we have a deadline?" Jim asked, his right hand fiddling with a loose strand of thread from his shirt.

"As long as she gets here, you can take all the time you need." Admiral Mira laughed. Her teeth were a bright white that contrasted with the black suit she wore.

"We're on our way out now. We'll message you when we have the empress safely aboard. Kirk out." With that, the screen went back to the stars ahead of them. "Mr. Sulu, set course for the planet Zindaki."

"Aye sir. Setting course now."

Within seconds, they were speeding through the stars.

Asonia sat on the throne. Her face painted just as it was on the day of her coronation. She wore a beautiful headdress, and deep red robes. Her royal adviser, Zaclyn stood to her right, and her personal bodyguard to her left.

Her bodyguard was like a sister. When they weren't in meetings or some other serious, diplomatic thing, they were like best friends. They talked laughed, joked. Her name was Fareilah.

She wore the same outfit the servants wore, but with hidden knifes and other weapons to protect her empress. She was tall, way taller than Asonia, with tan, muscular arms and legs, and a long brown braid down her back, she looked like an Amazonian warrior.

"Miss, I just received word from starfleet, they have sent a starship to bring you to their headquarters." Zaclyn said, holding his PADD.

Asonia sat up a little more. "Oh! Which ship?" She asked, her golden eyes bright.

"A U.S.S. Enterprise. Have you heard of it? I know you were once a part of Starfleet."

Asonia sat back, a smile on her lips. She had black symbols painted around her eyes and above the bridge of her nose and eyebrows. A new symbol for every year she'd reigned. So far she had three. One by each eye, and one above the bridge of her nose.

"That's the ship I served on." She said, a far away look in her eyes. "Back when I was still a teenager. You know, I graduated from the academy when I was fifteen. Youngest ever."

"Really? That young?" Fareilah asked, her blue eyes full of amazement. "I hadn't even started my training when I was that young."

"Yeah, I beat this kid's record. His name's Pavel. He was seventeen when he graduated. He's a pretty cool guy. We were close." Asonia replied, a sad smile on her lips. "But that was four years ago. I wonder how he's doing...."

"You do not need to worry about your old life, Asonia. You must remember, you are empress now."

"I know Zaclyn, you remind me every time I even mention space. Are you sure you don't want to come to Earth with Fareilah and I? You'd like it there."

"It is my duty while you are away to make sure our world has a leader. I'm sorry your highness, but I'm afraid I can't go." Zaclyn replied, in a deep voice. "But, be sure to take plenty of pictures." He added, raising a fluffy eyebrow.

Asonia laughed. "I will, don't worry."

The PADD in Zaclyn's hands beeped. He looked down and nodded. "The captain gives his greetings, and says they will be here in about five hours at maximum warp."

"Awesome. I can't wait to see them. Are your bags packed Fareilah?" Zaclyn raised his eyebrow at the word 'awesome' but didn't say anything. Different planets have different slang.

"Yes I have all my favorite knives, and extra clothes. Are your bags packed, your highness?"

"Oh crap, no. Come on, I need to pack. Zaclyn, I'll be right back." Asonia stood up, and together her and Fareilah ran to the room.

Zaclyn smiled, and stood a little close to the throne. His eyebrow up. Asonia always joked he looked like Spock when he did that, but he had no idea who Spock was.

Okay guys, what do you think? I kind of imagined Asonia looking a bit like queen amadala from Star Wars, mainly the headdress.

By the way, Asonia is Mary, she just goes by her real name. ;)
