~3rd Person POV~

"An escort mission?" Noctis asked after listening to Dave's request.

"Sorry to drop this on ya like a bombshell. I'm still injured and I need to reach Taeplar Rest Area before nightfall. I understand if ya wish to turn the other cheek."

"I see no problem with an escort mission," (Y/n) voices her opinion.

"But, we only have enough room in the car for the five of us. One of us will be without a seat," Prompto points out.

"You guys will be riding in the Regalia. I'll make the trek on foot," she states.

"You're thinking of running beside the car the entire time?" Noctis questioned.

Ignis voices in, coming to (Y/n)'s aid. "Her stamina is quite impressive in her second form."

Prompto and Gladio were confused as the prince and his advisor chatted. The blonde took a step forward as to hope to get an answer. "Hold on-what do you mean by 'second form'?"

"Oh, that's right! Noct and Iggy are the only ones who know about it," (Y/n) realizes.

"(Y/n)'s a Guardian. She has a human form and a spiritual one. She gave me a heart attack when I saw her change for the first time," Noctis replies.

"Now I'm dyin' to see what these two are talking about," Gladio said, gesturing to Noctis and Ignis.

"It's a little risky in a public place, but Dave will also be accompanying us. It's better to know who you're trusting your life with." (Y/n) took a few steps back from the group of men. Whispering under her breath, her body was enveloped in a brilliant light. After it dissipated, a wolf-like creature stood before them.

"N-No way!" Prompto wailed, scrambling to grab his camera to capture a few pictures of his new discovery.

Gladio stares in amazement at the sight before him. Her second form was taller than Ignis and almost reached his height. "I've known you for five years and this is the first time I'm hearing 'bout this?"

(Y/n) sat on her hind legs and howled in response. Noctis smiles from ear to ear at the melodious sound.

"Well, I'll be a chocobo's uncle. Never seen such a beautiful creature in my entire life," Dave laughs.

"Hey, Noct, how soft is her fur?" The prince's best friend asked eagerly.

"The softest thing I've ever felt in my life," the raven-haired boy answered. At those words, Prompto stormed over to (Y/n) and peered up at her. He stared into her radiating blue eyes and mentally asked for her permission. She nodded and lowered her body to the ground. In a split second, the boy had his arms around her. "Oh. Em. Gee! Your fur is so soft!" He threads his fingers through her black and gray fur, savoring in its velvety texture.

"We ready to head out? The sun's setting and we only have a few minutes 'til the daemons start prowling," the shield said.

"Let's depart. (Y/n), will you be alright in the shadows?" Ignis questioned. She nods and stands on all fours with Prompto still clinging to her. Noctis pried his best friend off his girlfriend and dragged him to the car. Gladio and Ignis helped Dave into the Regalia while (Y/n) waited patiently. The royal advisor glanced at the girl to signal their departure. She followed next to the car as he pulled out of Coernix Station.

Reaching top speeds, (Y/n) had no problem with keeping up with the Regalia. She ran alongside the left side of the car, her azure eyes piercing through the darkness of the land. Noctis rested his chin on his palm, his eyes glued to her beautiful form. A sweet smile crept across his face as he couldn't tear his gaze away from her. All he wanted to do was hold and smother her in kisses. Endearing thoughts raced through his mind as they sped past Wiz Chocobo Post.

Halfway through their escort mission, Ignis was forced to slam on brakes. Two Iron Giants and a Ronin blocked their path. Before Noctis could even get a foot out of the car, (Y/n) was already attacking mercilessly. The prince, along with his friends, jumped into the fray. Noctis had immediately warped to his lover's side to help her slaughter an Iron Giant. Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis handled the other two daemons while Dave made sure not to draw the creatures' attentions to the car. The duo slew the first Iron Giant and attacked the other remaining daemons.

"(Y/n), can I get a boost?" Noctis asked the moment his mana was depleted. She runs over to him and allows him to mount her back. With his engine blade drawn, he delivers heavy blows as (Y/n) jumps onto the daemon's head and back. The Iron Giant tried to shake her off, but she dug her sharp claws into its metal body. With one last blow to its back from Noctis, the Iron Giant crumbles to the ground. (Y/n) jumped off its back and landed nimbly on the ground beside Ignis and Gladio. Noctis hopped off her back and stood next to his advisor.

Suddenly, Prompto cried out, snapping (Y/n) into action. She saw the Ronin was about to stab the blonde and quickly jumped in front of him to act as a shield. Her large form loomed over Prompto's body, the blade impaling her in the side. She howled in pain and swiped her claws at the daemon, forcing it to yank its blade from her body and jump a few feet back.

"(Y-Y/n)," Prompto meekly called out to her. She ignored him and pounced on the creature. With her sharp teeth, she bit into the Ronin's neck, killing it in an instant. Noctis and Prompto dashed over to her as blood seeped from her side, painting her fur and the ground red. Ignis was soon by her side, using a hi-potion. Morosely, it wasn't enough to close the wound. The prince became frantic as he tried to use some of his magic to aid her, but it also didn't help. His azure eyes were full of panic and (Y/n) noticed. She placed her head against his, staring into Noctis' eyes.

I'll be alright. Though, I am in need of a lake.

Hearing her voice inside his head, Noctis nods. "I'll go with you while the others take Dave."

Noctis, it is too-

"Like hell I'm letting you go alone."

Noctis stared into her radiating sapphire eyes with determination. He heard her mentally sigh and give in to his stubbornness.

Alright. Tell the others to meet us at a nearby haven once they've dropped Dave off.

Noctis was relieved to hear her answer. He told the others and they had protested against the two being alone, especially since (Y/n) was injured. With a little convincing, Noctis and (Y/n) departed from the group to search for the nearest body of water. Luckily, they had found one that was ten minutes away. The raven-haired boy took off his shirt and shoes, tossing them aside and taking his phone out of his pocket before following (Y/n) into the small lake. With the moon shining brightly above, it provided enough light for them to see.

(Y/n) floated around in the water and tried her best to clean the wound. Noctis couldn't help but laugh at her. "Knew you were gonna need help." He swam over to her large form and tended to her wound. She nuzzled her wet nose into his cheek as he helped her. Not being able to contain his smile, it spread across his face. After he was done cleaning the wound, a green light emitted from where the injury was. The prince stared in awe as the wound was completely healed. He wrapped his arms around her neck, allowing themselves to float together. "How long have you been able to do that?"

Long before I met you. The battle wore out my mana, as well. I did not have enough to heal myself. My mana is restored in direct moonlight.

"The moon was obscured during the fight. The reason you wanted to find a lake was to clean the wound, right?"

That, and to use less mana. Now that we are in direct moonlight and the wound has been cleansed, the mana consumption was lessened.

"I thought my heart was gonna stop when I saw you get stabbed." Noctis hugged (Y/n) tighter, his hands clutching her fur.

I'd never go down that easily. You should know that by now.

Noctis rolls his eyes with a smirk. "Yeah, yeah. Still doesn't change the fact I was worried."

The two fell into a relaxing silence, floating together in the moonlight. Noctis sighed in ecstasy at the sensation of (Y/n)'s fur against his skin. The moon's radiance bounces off her black and gray fur, giving the girl a glistening glow he had never seen before. Consumed with passion, Noctis pulled (Y/n)'s muzzle to eye level. "I can't kiss you properly in this form. Can you change back?"

In the blink of an eye, (Y/n) turned back into her human form. "Now my clothes are drenched," she pouts.

"They'll dry," Noctis simply replies before dipping down and stealing her lips. He kept her body close to his as he deepened the kiss. The coolness of the water couldn't keep their bodies from igniting with a burning passion. One of Noctis' hands trailed through her wet (h/c) locks as (Y/n) giggled. Due to her laughter, he had to break the kiss. Raising an eyebrow, he eyed the guffawing girl. "What's so funny?"

"Sorry, just remembered something," she snorts.

"And what did you remember?"

"The first time you fell asleep on me when you were six. You asked me to transform and I did. I thought you wanted to go somewhere, but all you did was plop on my back and fall asleep. You even snored."

"I can't believe you remember something so embarrassing," Noctis huffs.

"It wasn't embarrassing, it was freakin' adorable!" (Y/n) cooed.

"Out of all the memories, why do you remember that one?" He curiously ponders.

"Even though you were a year older than me, it was the first day I started developing feelings for you. Crazy, I know."

"Far from it. For me, it was love at first sight," the prince admits shyly.

(Y/n) moves her hands to cup his cheeks. "Is that why you were blushing when your father introduced us?" Meekly, Noctis nods with his cheeks slowly tinting red. (Y/n) smiled and pushed herself upwards to meet his lips. It was a quick kiss but brimming with love. "I love you more than you know, Noctis. I'm glad I was chosen as Guardian and no one else."

"You've no idea how happy I am about that, too." Noctis was ready for another kiss, but the two lovebirds were interrupted by his phone ringing. The prince sighs and rests his forehead against (Y/n)'s with closed eyes. "It's probably Specs."

"He's probably worried. We've been here longer than I planned. You distracted me," she claims while feigning innocence.

(Y/n) went to pull away, but Noctis refused to let her go. "I'm the distraction? You've no room to talk, sweetheart."

"Fine... Let's admit we were both a distraction and head to the haven."

"Deal." Noctis let her go and she swam to shore with him close behind.

"I was a distraction, but you were the bigger one," (Y/n) declares with a huge grin while pointing at Noctis.

"Wha-no! You were equally as distracting!" Noctis reached out and tried to grab (Y/n), but she quickly dodged and ran away.

"Can't catch me!" She taunts while doing laps around him as he put his clothes on. The moment his phone was back in his pocket, he was close on her heels as she ran across the plains.

"You'll pay for making me run so fast, (Y/n)!"

"We'll see about that!"
