Hope
Finian POV
Powers seduction
I feel as if I am on another level from all these wolves, my father never mentioned this allure. He never told me that I could succumb to its sweet beautiful pull.
Whispering thoughts snaking slowly up my spine, hissing needs to consume the weak, dominate the powerful.
"Did you feel this way after you became Alpha to the North?" Grey looks at me confused.
"I'm not sure what you mean Fin." He gets up from his chair by my bed feeling my head as if I might have a fever.
"I just feel different Grey. Did you feel different?"
"No Fin, I felt exactly the same."
"Maybe it's just me." I let the subject slide.
"So are you going to take control of the North now you have the West?" I can see hope in Grey's eyes.
"No, I was hoping that you would take the West off my hands. I don't want it." I'm searching his face for any signs of hope.
"I can't, there's no way that I can do both, no way Fin. All the males are already eyeing my position up, they all think that they can take me. Every now and then I have to teach them who I am. It's as if I constantly have to prove myself to the pack that I can lead them just as good as you. I can't take the West, I just can't." Grey's running his fingers through his hair, rubbing his temples as he closes his eyes.
He looks bigger to me, I haven't seen him in a year and he's changed slightly. He's filling out, becoming more. I can tell the power coming off of him in waves, yet his eyes look tired. It's as if he hasn't had a good rest in a long time.
Getting out of bed with a small wince of pain, Grey goes to help me but I push his hands away from me. I can do this on my own now. I don't need him to help me dress anymore.
"It's okay Grey, I got this." The dressing has been removed letting scabs form on top of the split flesh. I should be good as new by tomorrow.
"Whatever you say Alpha Finian." The smile graces his lips in mocking. His head bows ever so slightly towards me, he doesn't turn his neck my way just a quick bow of respect.
Some banging is heard downstairs as if someone is trying to destroy the house, Grey shakes his head slightly.
"Let's go rescue Thomas." That's all Grey says to me.
Walking down the stairs our eyes are met with a raging female. She has a silver knife in her hands angling it towards Thomas's throat. She doesn't look like she has any skill with handling silver no balance in the way she holds the handle. It's sloppy and laughable.
I wonder if she ever held silver before?
"Stay away from me." Tears are in her eyes as Thomas takes a step towards her.
"You need to calm down Sophie." His voice is gentle and reassuring. She's dirty, hair all full of sticks and leaves. Torn material of her shirt, it looks like he caught her again. She's always running away from him.
"Put the knife down Sophie," Thomas says this again only for her to take a swipe at his head nearly cutting his face.
Without a second thought, I lunge for her, easily grabbing the knife and throwing it towards Grey to catch.
Picking her up by her jaw off the floor I bring her to my face. With as much power as I can harness inside myself, I look into her eyes until she looks away. A whimper comes out of her whole body.
"Listen to me Sophie, if you run away again it won't be Thomas coming after you, it will be me." Showing her my canines, I let a rumble of my Alpha wolf shake her entire body. I make the growl low and long.
"Do you want that to happen?" She can barely shake her head no with the way I have her in my grip. My claws have come out slightly so they prick into her skin. Nothing that will leave permanent damage but enough to strike the fear of the moon herself into this misbehaving female.
"You're a smart wolf I can tell." Putting my nose against her cheek I inhale her smell. The fear, it tastes good I want to lick her face, but I respect my brother.
"You need to behave yourself, Sophie, Thomas is a Beta to my brother. There are certain expectations, I'm not sure where you come from but in the North, you will behave properly if you don't there are consequences. You will not embarrass us or yourself anymore Do you understand?" Another growl from my wolf shows her that I will not tolerate this behavior any longer.
"Yes." It's cried out as I let her drop on the floor. When I turn towards Grey his mouth is opened slightly with disbelief.
"That was needed, you have to show these females that bad behavior won't be tolerated. If that was a male you need to just tear the throat out immediately." I feel as if I have to school Grey slightly. He should have done this with Sophie immediately. He nods his head as if in understanding.
Thomas picks her up off the ground rocking her slightly in his arms. "Thank you." He mouths to me as her head is buried in his chest. She's shaking so bad that a little guilt pokes it's ugly head inside me. Putting my hand on her head I give it a little rub.
"We're still friends Sophie, you just have to learn your place." Her head snaps up slightly towards me with a gleam in her eye before she looks away not saying a word.
"Good girl." Most females love this expression and I let her have my nice voice when females make me happy which is rarely.
Walking outside with Grey we are greeted with my new pack that I am responsible for. I greet them all, touching them on the shoulders, ruffling hair. I let them understand no more violence will come from me unless provoked. While I do this I look each one in the eye making sure no one stares to long, male or female. I would handle that show of disrespect instantly. None challenge my eyes and I understand we will all get along very well.
"Grey, I was thinking since I'm the new Western Alpha I think I need to mark my territory lines. We have time before the Far North arrives, how about the North and West go for a little run together. I'm interested in taking several inches of land away from the East just to show them I'm no Alpha Peter, let's go play."
"I'm not sure." Hesitation in his voice.
"I'll take some of the Western side, you take the Northern side. I think that this would show him that we are united. That the twins from the North are a combined force. I think it would be an important step in showing all the other packs this as well." I see him contemplating this idea.
"What of our borders?"
"Let's open them up, no distinguished line, we can come and go freely."
"If we do this and there's a fight I want Victoria's father. He's mine Fin."
"I thought that you didn't want any more territory."
"I don't, I'll hold it till Victoria can take it over. Train her properly like father wanted." Stopping my stride I can't help the way my hands turn to fists. The way I hit him in the face, watching his blood spill.
"She is not your concern!" Yelling in his face, I try to tackle him down. He flips me over onto my back faster than I have time to react. He's going in with his own fist punching just to the side of my head. I can tell he just broke his hand with the way his bones crunch on themselves. He would have done a lot of damage to my face if he didn't aim for the ground instead of my flesh.
Hooking my legs around his body, I flip him off, so he's beside me. My scabs have opened up, the blood already leaking into the material of my shirt. Lana will be unhappy with this. The only thing she said to me was to be careful, take it easy for a few days. Now everything is a mess.
Holding my side looking at Grey sideways. "I apologize for that."
Getting off the ground he holds his hand against his body, cradling it.
"What was that for?" His lip is split wide open. He's the only male that can take a real punch from me and get up. He's' also the only male that can land a punch on me and actually do damage.
"I don't like you saying her name."
"You need to talk to someone Fin." He just walks away from me back inside muttering to himself.

.
.
The next day finds us face to face with the Eastern Pack. It took some time to get here in our cars not wanting to run too long because of Grey's healing hand.
We're on our side and the Easterners are on their side. It would be so easy to just take the territory, but I don't want the filth that comes with it.
"I just wanted to say hello to you, make some ground rules up." My voice booms over the wolves who are all balancing on the balls of their feet. Nothing but their attention greets my ears.
"From now on the Western borders are closed to the Eastern Pack if we catch any wolf violating this they will be killed instantly." A murmur ripples like a pebble dropped into a still puddle.
"What about mates?" Someone yells out from the Eastern side. I would have killed the wolf instantly if that was from my side.
"I said the borders are closed." My teeth have descended slightly, rumbling my anger out. Grey follows my lead. The both of us standing tall and united.
"Victoria." Her father yells out into the crowd.
"Maybe we could come to an agreement?"
"Agreement? You have nothing that I could possibly want. As I said before our borders are closed down permanently."
The sea of wolves parts slightly letting her through, giving her space. None stand in her way to the front of the pack. Her gait is as if she is in pain, every step placed gently as if not to cause her body to much discomfort.
Her hair slightly fluttering in the wind is black, not raven wing black that's too dark a color, not midnight black because that's to light, her hair falls into a shade of darkness that is unique just to her. Those eyes pierce me through her strands of hair that's blowing wildly in the wind now.
She has various stages of healing bruises that frame her face as if she's wearing them as makeup.
Rose-tinged lips, full and sensual. She surpasses my imagination.
This is the full grown Victoria.
She doesn't look away from me either, power holding power in this moment.
She is the only female to ever hold my gaze for even a minute. She does it as if it doesn't cause her distress, she doesn't flinch away.
Does silver eyes go with electric blue because in this small moment I want to meld them together as one.
I thought that I knew the meaning of beauty, I thought I knew what that looked like. I realize now looking at her that she is beauty.
A bewitching beautiful that's a mirage because underneath her skin is the filthiest of souls.
All the moisture is gone from my mouth, the dryness is unbearable.
Canines descending without my consent. I still can't pull my gaze from her. It's as if we are locked up together.
A pulse that's quickening inside my chest that's burning with a need.
Hope flashes inside those morning glory blues of hers.
In that exact moment where I can see that powerful flash of hope, that's when she loses me.
Thinking I'm her hope, she lost hope the moment she invited my brother between her legs.
I give her my sneer.
Contempt
Disgust
Loathing
I see all her hope drift away on the wind replaced by reality. A single tear makes a trail down her cheek before it lands on the top of her chest. She turns around, walking away with her head held high, shoulders back.
Her father laughs after her along with the rest of the Eastern Pack. Still, she holds herself as if she's a queen walking among a herd of sheep. No one gets close to her, giving her space.
Looking down the line of warriors I nod to the right and the left as one body we take a step forward past the territory lines and another step. Taking the nine inches of land I unzip my pants letting them all see what I am about to do. Marking the new lines of the Western Territory with a smile on my face. Her father and I lock eyes in a challenge, he looks away and it's my turn to laugh at him while his pack looks on. The Northern and Western warriors follow me with their heads thrown back laughing at all these weak wolves.
