(5)•Out at Sea•
(Chapter 5)
(Itrisha's pov)
Finally reaching the docks I was tired and my throat was so dry, I could hardly breathe. I did not know which ship to look for so I looked for familiar faces from yesterday.
Keeping in my mind these men were very dangerous, I tried to be as discrete as possible.
I searched in earnest for my van, it was a big place and also well guarded. How and what I was going to do I had no idea.
I went and sat down under a tree, away from too many passerbys, taking off the bag I rummaged through it, taking out the second to last bottle of water that was left and a pack of biscuit.
Munching on it I felt and heard my stomach growled. I had a good amount of food stored under the bed in the truck, it was tricky to open that panel where the foods were, looking at it you would think it's only for holding up the bed, I mused craving some good cooked food.
But food was the least of my worries right now, they could take the campervan and all that was in it as long as I got my daughter back.
Unarmed because if she was harmed in any way, I was fucking everyone up even if I had to die in the process.
I shook off the feeling, not even bother wanting to eat, the mere thought of my daughter hurt, brought tears to my eyes and a fiery rage in my heart.
The foreign woman and man I saw earlier driving my campervan past to my left some distance away, they went past a car park area passing two long water trucks.
The man was carrying two large grocery bags, two other foreign women went behind them a few minutes after.
I sprung to my feet, looking around cautiously, not wasting anytime I pulled the jackets hood over my head and hoisted the knapsack on my back, heading off in thier direction.
Rounding the water trucks and looking out to sea was a massive cargo ship, there were foreigners including the horrible men going about thier businesses.
Spotting the dark colour of the campervan high up on the cargo ship, my heart went into overdrive.
I tried to act as normal as possible, my main focus was getting my campervan back, they were mainly entering unto the ship and doing what appears to be last minute checks.
Judging from where the ship was docked I guessed it was not docked at where the ships normally did, you could see that the gang walk planks were makeshifts.
It wasn't long walk to the planks where the people I was following headed. I did not know how I was going to get on the ship since thier were men acting as guards walking up and down the sides from where I can see.
The ships horns made a loud blast, ploooooorrrnnn!!!! The people started walking faster ropes were being untied and it was a good walk to the ship.
I looked around but there was nothing that I thought possible to use as an allie. Pulling the hood of the jacket down I used the underside of my blouse to wipe my sweating face quickly.
Then speed walking to the group of foreigners, I matched the step of one woman who turned to look at me, I smiled at her, with my heart thumping hard in my chest both from exertion and fright.
The woman didn't smile back or say anything, but I continued to walk as if I was with them.
when we reached near to where they would enter unto the ship. Two men in uniforms were standing thier I held unto the woman's bag quickly saying, "let me help you, you look really tired."
She looked surprisingly at me, but as she was about to speak I turned pulling her along muttering incoherently as if we were friends having a conversation.
With my heart at my throat we passed the security looking men unto the ship, wanting to puke from the gentle swaying of the ship, I released her hand placing my hand over my mouth.
"Are you alright?" She asked surprising me, I looked at her as I try to put as much distance between us and the security men at the entrance.
A screeching noise disturbed us before I could reply, I turned to see the cargo door of the ship closing up.
Without second guessing I asked her if she would be kind enough to walk me to the cargo area on the ship, she looked at me suspiciously then nodded.
The ship lurched, moving away from the harbour, we held on to whatever we could while my head and stomach was turning over, the woman looked barely fazed beside me as she clutched the her bag to her chest.
I thanked her for walking with me, she nodded and walked away, the ship was moving away from the gang planks.
Waiting while the woman left and was out of sight, I crab-walked dodging behind chained down vehicles towards where the campervan was chained down.
After making sure no one was around, I went to the door and called softly, "Lori, Lori are you in there?" I got no reply, I listened then called again.
"Lori are you in there?" I heard a slight movement from inside, I shift a little to the back of the vehicle.
Glancing around I went back near to the door, I heard Lori's happy squeal then the truck door opening.
She jumped out on me with a happy squeal, nearly tumbling over I placed my hand over her mouth and "shhhs" her. Nelissa and Brianna were at the doorway looking out.
I went in putting Lori down, she was very weighty, then glancing to make sure we weren't seen I closed the door.
* * *
Fifteen minutes later... "I don't want you girls playing with electric currant again, but good job," I told them after they told me thier story.
Taking a well needed shower, washing my hair, drinking some tea and preparing a quickly made meal I sat with them, we were tired.
It was hard keeping anything down, my head kept swirling from the motion of the ship.
After them telling me that some large water drums were to the inner side from where all the vehicles were chained down.
I got our two little buckets from the bathroom, swaying and trying not to spill the water and without getting caught I quickly carried water filling up all we could, I didn't think this water could drink so we only use it taking turns bathing and washing our hair.
Trying to be as quiet as possible, combing thier hairs while waiting until it was dark. We weren't turning on any lights at all, I braved carrying the huge bottles of grey waters lifting them onto the side of the ship I emptied it into the vast dark ocean. I also emptied our waste too.
Securing the van door with a piece of cord, I tied it as tight as possible, even though I know that the woman and man only had the spare key, that was left under the passenger side of the truck.
I only left the spare key thier sometimes, I should have tied it unto one of the trees near to the fence, like I always did.
Nevertheless I was glad that no arm had come to my daughter and Annette's daughters.
Putting extra cloth over the screens by the windows, I put the girls to bed.
Checking and loading my gun once they were asleep I decided to pack two knapsacks just in case we had to leave the campervan and hide else where on the ship.
Nelissa said she saw Annette and a few others we knew got onto the ship, but she didn't know where they went. They didn't come out because there were light coloured men with guns and they were afraid.
I woke up feeling Lori's little hands hugging me, I saw that they were all awake but being obedient and staying really quiet, looking at my phone I saw it was ten minutes past one in the afternoon, oh wow, they must be hungry, but sleep was still overpowering me.
After using the bathroom I peeked out again, to make sure no one was nearby the truck. We ate crackers with sausages and drank our tea in silence.
Cleaning up quietly I told Lori to take out a few of her story books so she and her friends could entertain themselves quietly and I went back to sleep.
Soft little hands woke me to voices outside the truck door, I jumped up pulling on my jeans and peeped through the window.
[Kemeil's pov]
Ronald was being a usual ass, though he ordered Rye and his goons to stay at one part on one side of the ship, he still allowed him to take the women hostage.
He however kept them from Rye claiming he wanted to question them. I swear when I, my family and friends are off Ronalds ship, I do not wish to see nor associate with any of them ever again.
Glad the evil fuckers didn't know who I truly was, but I think Rye will try to investigate on whom I really was. It was hard to finally have him in such close range and can't viciously murder him.
After keeping watch while Everol and Jamie got some sleep last night, I finally got some well deserved sleep as well, however my mood did not changed.
Showering and getting dressed I went to see my mother, where I kept her and some of my families heavily guarded on the ship.
"Oh, it's good to see you son." My mother said excitedly when I entered, I kissed her on her cheek in greeting.
After eating and drinking the little that was provided, I sat down by myself to ponder on things.
After a short while, "Kem, I'm taking mama for a push in her wheelchair, would you come with us please? I really want to show you something." Said Mishand.
Not wanting them to go by themselves I stood up looking at my watch, it was twenty-five minutes after five in the afternoon it would be dark soon.
My sister was being annoyingly stubborn as usual, wanting to go where the vehicles were chained down on the ship, but it's close to where Rye and his goons were, so I told her we wouldn't.
After more than any annoyance one could bare we took the other route to it.
"The door here keeps shocking and won't budge," she said pouting like a spoil kid. "Whose campervan is this?" I asked her, "it's mine now see I have the key." She walked towards the drivers door inserting the key and opening the door.
I inspected the locked side door of the truck cautiously, it didn't shock but didn't open either. "Pass the key, what's in the truck?" I asked looking at her scrunched up face, I hissed my teeth, I already knew I wasn't about to get an answer.
Shaking the door handle a bit I try to discern how I was going to open it, without breaking it off, but before I could release it I was send flying by the door opening aggressively.
Regaining my balance, I looked up seeing the woman who had shot Rye, stole my bag and my beloved jacket my thoughts reminded me.
"Mi van door do u nutn mek u wan' pop it off? U have somn in yah?" She asked with her hands on her hips, I stood thier staring at her in disbelief and unable to speak.
Brown, I knew her eyes were brown they lighted up her whole face, she was wearing a blue stretched jeans and a nice v- neck stretched top with short sleeves and barefooted, she was short and thick with a nice shape. Her sexy lips turned up trying to help her face look serious, her dark bronze complexion suited her, she was lovely.
I cleared my throat to speak, my mother and sister came towards the van door, they looked at her standing inside the doorway of the truck.
She looked very angry but the slight shaking of her right leg let me know she was nervous. Hearing footsteps on the deck coming towards us I closed the van door and leaned against it.
A few of the deck hands carrying water containers went towards the fresh water drums, they couldn't really see me from my vantage point, but I know some people on the ship came here to thier vehicles sometimes.
How had she managed to get on here? Among other things was unanswered in my head. "Let's go," I said and my mother drove off with us in her motorized wheelchair.
Everol and Petran was directed by me to stay unseen close to the campervan. I knew she wasn't stupid she must know Rye and his men are on the ship and what they were capable of.
After disclosing what had happened to a few of my close allies, Everol had asked why she was on the ship, my only response being I had no idea.
Mishand and Kaheim came into the cabin where I was. "We thought the campervan was abandoned Kem, we didn't know anyone was inside it, Mish told me what happened earlier."
Kaheim my sister's fiancé said trying to look apologetic. "Who is the woman? What are you going to do?" He asked me.
Sometimes I think Kaheim chose the right profession being a bank manager, he knows absolutely nothing else except that, at times I wonder what my sister sees in this childish man.
I smiled to myself at the fact that they thought the woman had been in the van all along. But judging by the fact that they had the campervan from the night before that could not have been possible.
She was a mystery I intend to solve.
"She is the one that shot and killed three of Rye's men plus, injuring him and his drugheads, so I would advise you both to stay away from that campervan and keep your mouths shut." I told them.
"Do I make myself clear?" They both nodded looking surprised, "Good, now Mishand go and get Margaret to make a thermos of tea and a dish of food and bring it back here to me." I told her and they left.
Making our way discreetly around to the cargo area, me and Jamie relieved Everol and Petran from guarding the area, It's about time I got some answers, Jamie watched keeping alert some distance away from the van.
I knocked and waited, it was dark most of the lights on the ship were off preserving oil Ronald claimed, I knocked again then waited.
The door finally opened revealing her darken figure in the darkness. "Good night." I said lowly trying to sound casual. "Wey u want?" She asked in her Jamaican accent, I loved her accent it sounded so sweet.
"I brought you some food and I wanted to have a talk with you," I said handing her the bag. "Mi look hungry to u? Mi no chat to strangers worse of all rapists tssskkk."
It was as if someone slapped me hard across my face, rapist!! She called me a rapist. What did I expect under the circumstances anyway, I reasoned with myself standing thier gaping, it was a good thing it was dark.
Could people kissed thier teeth that rudely I felt utterly dragged through.
We were in another standing and staring battle again, only this time we could hardly see each other in the darkness.
How the hell does she manages to get under my skin I didn't know, It's not like I haven't met Jamaicans before, but she just makes me go dumb.
Jeez, how long are we going to stand here? I thought to myself, I can tell she was stubborn, feisty and very determine.
Clearing my throat I stepped a little closer asking her, "what are you doing here on the ship?" Not knowing if she was going to answer I pressed on, you know that some of these men are very dangerous so -why- are -you -here?
"Who told you I wanted to be here?" She asked sarcastically, "here," I said handing her the bag containing the food.
"There is a thermos with some hot tea in here." "Mommy can I have some water to drink please?"
Breaking the never-ending silence after a child asked for water to drink I said, "you should go and give your child the water, do you have any?" I asked second guessing. "Yes." She replied.
She took the bag from my hand saying, "thanks," she closed the door.
