(Chapter 27)

              [Itrisha's pov]

  Kristen pointed to outside and mouthed 'Ms Eloise', I nodded in understanding, rising from the bed I rushed to the bathroom to relieve myself.

  After taking care of my hygiene I went in search of my children, feeling much better than the day before. I heard Everol speaking to Kemeil outside, but I could not see what they were doing from my view through the bathroom window.

  Margaret came in as I was changing the sheets on my bed, I really don't like how they always barge through the place.

  I'm grateful for them helping me out, but they need to knock and wait to be asked in.

  "Do you feel up to eating something?" she asked me. "No I don't think so, but thank you," I told her.

  "Ok Margaret make some tea for her." Ms Eloise said walking in with her walking stick. I was so surprised to see her walking, that I forgot I was still angry at them all.

  She leaned on the door jamb and looked at me. "Well miss smart mouth, are you planning on wishing me a good morning or you're planning to just stare and my legs all day?" she asked.

  Snapping back to reality, I asked the most important question. "Good morning, where are my children?" still feeling weak I sat down on the newly made bed.

  "Okang's wife took them for a walk, everyone else is busy, how are you feeling?" She asked sympathetically. "Not how I would love to right now," I replied.

  Margaret brought the tea and I drank it and took two more panadols, Kristen must have left, it seemed like she had wanted to tell me something.

  Feeling much better a few days after, I got up and made breakfast, thier wasn't any knocking this morning and their was a new backdoor.

  I opened it to see outside and was surprised to find another bedroom, this one even larger. I stood thier in surprise, a queen sized bed was in the middle and my dresser, not wanting to go in thier, I closed back the door.

  Kemeil and the children came in as I was drinking my tea and picking at my breakfast. "Mommy you are awake, good morning." Lori said.

  I smiled at her, the twins climb up on me like two over energized bunny, I could hardly lift them, I was still weak.

  Kemeil just served himself not asking me anything, he also serve the childrens. Him and Lori bathed the twins after, with her telling him what needed to be done.

  They did what I would have normally done in the mornings, without bothering me. I sat at the little counter we ate and prepared meals at, not really wanting to lie down but felt tired.

  I notice Kemeil carrying my things to the newly built room. "What are you doing?" I asked irritation lacing my voice. "I'm carrying your belongings to the new bedroom, I'll be turning this one in a living/dining area." He replied. I didn't respond and he walked off.

  I woke up looking around frighteningly, I was in the newly built room, I jogged my mind to remember but could not remember coming in here, plus getting unto the bed.

  Why was I feeling so tired, weak and groggy, I thought, the flu wasn't as bad as before. The house was quiet but has I listened I heard muted voices talking.

  Kemeil and his mother were speaking in spanish. "I've searched everywhere and I cannot find them." Kemeil said. "Where could she have hidden them then?" his mother asked sounding angry.

  What were they looking for and where were my children? I asked myself. "What time is it shouldn't she up by now?" Ms Eloise asked. "I'll go check." Kemeil's voice responds and his near silent foot falls came closer to me.

  I blinked my eyes and looked at him as he came through the door, I looked around feigning surprised. "Did I faint? or something?" I asked with a confused look on my face.

  "No, but you nearly, so I took you to lie down and you went to sleep. Are you feeling better now?" he asked.

  "I think so, where are my children, they must be hungry, why didn't you wake me?" I asked these questions getting up.

  "They are with Mishand, don't worry they are ok, we know you aren't feeling well." he said. I nodded, he and his mother was just talking about me and I didn't feel please.

  I went to the bathroom but I did not see Ms Eloise any where in the house. Those pills I took were sleeping pills and I knew exactly what they were looking for, but they will have to keep looking.

  Kemeil did not come to bed that night and I was glad, he said he had night duty but I didn't believe him.

  When he left I inspected the house for hidden cameras, I made some tea and drank it pretending to be looking around the house.

  The living/dining room was almost done, I went to lie down feeling so angry. How dare them? I hate him and I hate them, I said angrily in my mind.

  Kemeil came in very early the next morning, I did not even heard when he opened the front door. I lied thier and watched him through my lashes, he moved about so smoothly in the darkened room.

  Pulling back up the door without closing it behind him, I layed thier and listened. Thier was no sound after it seems he went to the kitchen.

  Half an hour later I went to the kitchen, then I went to the children's room and check on them. He was no where in the house.

  He came back an hour later while I was preparing breakfast. "Morning," he greeted hugging and kissing the twins, pecking Lori's cheek.

  After breakfast Lori had online school, he took over bathing the children saying I shouldn't exert myself.

  Margaret was right on time to walk Lori to school, with a lame excuse saying she was passing and stopped to see how I was feeling.

  My mind was like a whirling tornado of thoughts, I took care of my hygiene as Kemeil said he would go for a stroll with the twins.

  I took out one of my old phones and put it to charge, I will positioned it behind some items on my dresser to video the bed.

  When he came back with the twins, he came with four panadols. "The doctor says you are to take two of these after you eat, to finish clearing up the flu, they are a more milder panadol." He told me, looking at me so sincere.

  I felt like crying, asking myself how did I ever trust him, but I never did, did I? "I don't need to take them I feel much better." I told him.

  The children were getting fussy. "Yes you do, you need to be well enough for our children, let me get you some water." He said, he took a bottle of room temperature water from one of the shelves and handed it to me.

  I took it and thanked him, he went for the twins sprout cups, filling them with fruit juice while side watching me.

  Pretending to take the pills, I dropped them inside my blouse and drank some of the water. He turned looking directly at me and I lower my eyes and looked on the twins.

  I place the bottle on the counter and took up Lameilia shaking her, I know she wanted her nap, I took her to her room, quickly taking out the tablets before they fall to the floor.

  Shoving them to a discreet location to collect them later on, I rocked Lamelia to sleep as Kemeil walked into the room with Lamond on his shoulders.

  He turned on thier fan and set it to spin, when the children went to sleep, I used the bathroom and went into my room, I hit record on the phone then sat on the bed.

  Kemeil came in and I pretended to be drowsy. "Lie down you are sleepy aren't you?" he asked lowly, "mhunm," I murmured and lay down.

  I drooped my eyes as if I was sleepy, Kemeil leaned against the door jamb and watched me, I close my eyes and pretended to sleep.

  I heard him walk off and began talking on his phone, I wasn't sure who he was talking to, but he asked. "What's new today?" and I guess the person replied to which he says, "ok we'll talk again later."

  He was in the kitchen doing something and I badly wanted to go and look, but I have to lie here and pretend I'm in deep sleep.

  His phone rang and he answered. "Yes," pause, "yes ok." silence the phone call seemed to have ended.

  Less than five minutes I heard Ms Eloise voice, followed by Mishand. They spoke about how the money was being shared, then Sleven came and they spoke of where they will be hitting chief Anlong from the next time.

   They spoke of the wine and  champagne business with the Argentina's, then Sleven left and Mishand shocked me by asking Kemeil, if he wasn't going to consider having a relationship with Kiara.

  Kiara was a beautiful spanish woman who had one son, it is said that her fiancé had died in the line of duty protecting them.

   Kiara was sleeping with the same guard, Mishand was having a secret affair with but Mishand did not know that.

  I was so angry and hurt as I lie thier needing to get up because they must be planning to kill me to get rid of me, I thought.

  "You need to mind your own business and leave my personal life alone." Kemeil told her, "Your personal life is whack, it's the reason why you have to drug the bitch and you still can't find where she hid the money and her guns." She said lowly but quite angrily.

  "Mishand did you came to help your brother or to use your stupid mouth?" Ms Eloise asked her. "Get the fuck out." I heard Kemeil's deadly hissed.

  The front door opened and closed, "Mama you can go too." He said. "Start searching the kitchen and if you don't find them today, then you'll have to make her tell you where they are." She said vexedly to him.

  I lay thier as she walked into the room leaning on her walking stick, I watched her through my lashes, as I breathed deeply pretending to be deep in slumber.

  She looked at me then turned pulling up the door behind her again, sounds of movements were coming from the kitchen, until I heard nothing.

  "Nothing." I heard Kemeil said. "I've looked everywhere I can think of her hiding them." "Well you knew she wasn't a stupid black woman, why did she hide her guns, her and the children's documents and the money?

  You have to think what motive she has, what is she hiding and what is she planning to do." Ms Eloise spoke.

  "I think she just doesn't trust us and I have myself to blame." Kemeil said calmly, "I lied to her when I shouldn't have, it makes our relationship so much harder."

  "She had stayed with us until she found out about Mariah, I feel that's what changed her and you're right I know she doesn't trust us." Ms Eloise spoke lowly, I had to listen intently but I couldn't hear what else was being said.

  Kemeil's phone rang, "Hola Nicolette," a pause, "ok, did he give you the new file on Itrisha?" a listening pause, then he said. "Take them straight to me as you reach, adios."

  The twins woke and Kemeil and his mother left with them a little while after, I waited until I was sure they had left then I got up.

  I stopped the phone recording and put it to charge, quietly making my way to the kitchen, I found my cellphone connected to Kemeil's laptop.

  Tapping it the screen lit up and it was open, he was downloading everything, damn! my google searches I thought.

  I stopped it from downloading and deleted everything except my contacts and photos. I quickly climbed up to the roof of the children's bedroom and took out another phone from the bag behind the identical piece of ledge that I place thier.

  As I was switching the phones simcards, I heard Kemeil speaking to one of the guards a short distance away, I quickly finished and peeked through the window on seeing him coming, I hit download on his laptop and dashed into the room pulling up the door.

  Opening the first drawer my hand reached I dropped the phone in it, then climbed unto the bed, I heard the front door which enters into the kitchen open.

  He obviously stopped in the kitchen, trying to lay comfortably I sneezed, his foot falls came to the door but he didn't enter. I faked yawned and rubbed my eyes making a slight moan.

  The door opened and he came in, I kept my eyes down rubbing them, "Hey you are up already?" he asked, I got up and made my way sleepily to the bathroom closing the door behind me.

  I sat on the toilet wanting to cry at his pretense, how could I have been so blind and stupid, thinking I may have really mean something to him.

  I knew I told myself I would not run off again, I would try hard and fight this through, but I was too hurt to stay, I got up and flushed the toilet, washed my hands then came out.

  Fully prepared to pretend with him just as well, I went into the kitchen, the laptop had disappeared from the counter along with my phone.

  Taking a bottle of water from the fridge I drunk half, it was just after twelve. Kemeil walked into the kitchen looking at me. "How are you feeling?" he asked looking concerned.

  "Fine, I must be getting lazy or something I'm hungry." I said turning to the fridge, then the cupboards, I took up a pack of banana chips.

  I walked passed him to the children's room, he was staring at me. "Have the twins gone over to Mishand again?" I asked.

  "Yea they'll be back later," he replied. I walked back to the kitchen and sat on a stool, resting my head on my palms. "You can go and lie down again if you are still feeling sleepy." he said.

  Wondering how long those sleeping pills were supposed to have kept me under, I looked through the window with a sad feeling.

  Someone knocked on the door and he opened it, Nicolette handed him some files, he thanked her and closed the door.

  Closing my eyes I pretended to be sleepy. "I miss my children can you please go and get them, I'll just lie down until you get back."

  "Ok," he says and I watched him placed the files in the now living/dining room, no more work had been done on it. I got up and head to my room as he went to the door.

  I turned and went back to the kitchen taking up my chips and the bottle of water, he was standing at the doorway but came in as I pretended to sleepily stumble.

  He watched me go into the room, I pulled up the door behind me, listening I heard the front door open then closed, tiptoeing to the front room I saw him standing on the porch.

  Easing up the files I searched for my name knowing he can come in at any minute, I took it out and tiptoed back to my room.

  Sitting on the bed I looked quickly through it, while keeping a listening ear for the door, I saw my phone placed back on the dresser.

  Every thing was in the file even my cxc passes for spanish, I slid the file under the mattress as the front door opened quietly.

I sat on the bed facing the door, it slowly opened and Kemeil looked in, I looked straight at him, his eyes blinked and he eased back a little maybe from shock.

  "I'm waiting on my children." I said patiently and closed my eyes. He went back out and I got up, I went to the front window and saw him strolling across to his mother's house.

  Quickly going back to the room, I ripped a few pages from the file not caring if they were numbered and then placed in back with the others.

  Taking out the two pills, I wrapped them into a piece of hand towel and beat them into powder, then hid it in the kitchen.

  Dinner was great that evening especially the fruit juice, I watched him drank his that I had put the powdered pills in.

  I washed the dishes after, while he and Lori got the children ready for bed, he was fast asleep in the children's room when I went in, with Lori sitting and staring at him.

  He had been reading through my file the whole time I was cooking, let's see how long those sleeping pills worked.

  Taking out the bags from under the beds I quickly packed, I booked my flight from his laptop and was surprised to get the flight. One of the twin techs name pop up asking for confirmation for the flight for me and the children.

  I signed Kemeil's name with his signature stored on his laptop and my packing skills have really improved, even though there wasn't a whole lot to pack.

  After getting the childrens dressed to travel, I put them in my room with the bags, I climbed up and took out my money, documents and guns.

  I will be travelling with my guns, Kemeil's laptop and the twin techs were really good, what a lot of things he stored on that laptop, no wonder he didn't leave it with anyone but Everol.

  After downloading what I needed from it I got ready, wearing my black pullover I went to my van and drove it up to the house, me and Lori quickly packed the things in it.

  It was amazing how no one bothered me, because he was here. His phone began to ring and I answered Nicolette. "Hey Kemeil, Lance is asking if you sent Itrisha for her van?" she asked. "Yes, but call back in two minutes when he comes out of the bathroom." I hissed my teeth then hung up.

  It was a long drive to the airstrip where we'll take a short flight to the airport. I shut down Kemeil's laptop before driving off with my children.

  I drove speedily to the airstrip, knowing unless the twin techs call they will be looking for me in the country.

  Me and the children board the short flight that would take us to Nairobi international airport. I left my van keys to be collected by Kristen, they'll stress Kristen a bit, but that'll give them work to do.

  I did not relax until the flight took off with us, then I tried to get some sleep, so I'll have the strength for what lies ahead of us.

  The passport and visa me and my children were traveling on said we were citizens so we had no problem when the plane landed and we went through customs with ease.

  I rented a van and switched on my phone to use google maps for directions, messages and missed calls came in by the dozens.

  Following google directions I started driving, I listened to Kristen worried voice complaining that I had left her again.

  Kemeil's first message made me want to cry, my emotions were all over the place, he said he wanted to know if me and the children landed safely and that I should call him has soon has I got this message.

  He did not sound angry but knowing him, he's probably just keeping it in check at the moment. The second message was him saying he was sending someone to pick us up from the airport.

  Just then a jeep flew round a corner and passed us, it slowed as I went around the corner, I remember some of these roads were private, but I'm sure this one wasn't.

  The jeep was driving behind me, it drove up and honked it's horn, he wined down his window and I looked at him, he was always Kemeil's right hand.

  I didn't even knew he had left Kenya, I drove off feeling anger boiled up in me, he was obviously on his phone.

  Stopping in the town I took the children to a restaurant I knew Kemeil owned to purchase food and I knew he would follow me in thier.
