DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN VAMPIRE KNIGHT,  ALL CREDIT GOES TO MATSURI HINO-SENSEI.  I ONLY OWN THE PLOT OF THIS STORY.

I wasn't meaning to update this but here is a new chapter.  Anyways, I wanted to update my other work, but I'm going to be putting that on hold for a while.  Maybe?  I'm going to be working on an original story, which I will be posting here on wattpad, but I will also be submitting it to the watty's.  Would be amazing if I won.

Sorry for any grammar or spelling error, or if it just doesn't make sense.

Enjoy.

She followed after the slim girl in her white uniform. Watching as her short light purple hair slightly swayed on occasions.

She hadn't uttered a single word since she began to lead the way to where Kaname was.

Haruna felt her skin prickle and itch at being so close to a vampire.  Or rather at being so close to a nest of vampires.

A nest.  That's what it truly seemed and felt like.  A nest of poisonous snakes.

Haruna tried to swallow back the bitter taste that began to form in her mouth.  The thought itself of being the only human in this place greatly worried and frightened her.

Will he kill me?

Such thoughts had crossed her mind various times.  She didn't want to be here, but she knew that if she didn't do as Kaname did.... he would do something.

Something that would make her regret her decision of not listening.  She didn't know what he was capable of, but she did know that he would do anything.  That was to be expected of a vampire.  Of a pureblood.

She slowly placed her hand over where her weapon was and let out a deep breath she didn't know she had been holding in.

That was a small reassurance that she had something to protect herself.

"We're here." The girl who had been walking in front of her said as she stood in front of a large door.

She lightly knocked on said door.  And not long after a reply came.

She opened the door and ushered Haruna in.

"Thank you Seirin.  You may go now." Kaname said as he set down his pen on the desk in front of him.

Seirin bowed and swiftly left the room, closing the door firmly behind her.

"Take a seat Kiryuu-san." Kaname said as he raised his hand indicating to take a seat on the couch beside the desk.  Though not once did he glance at her.

Kaname did not turn to look at Haruna until he hair the faint click of the door closing.  And Seirin's presence began to fade as she left the area.

He wine colored eyes glanced at Haruna for a few seconds before speaking, "What are you." He knew what she was.  But he wanted to hear it from herself.  Hear her say just what she was.

Haruna took a deep calming breath and return her gaze to Kaname, "I'm human." She said.  But then a small smile made its way to her lips, though it was a much bitter smile, "But I wasn't always one."

She closed her eyes, "I'm what you saw me as last night.  I'm a reaper." She opened her eyes.  Her lavender eyes meeting his dark wine colored eyes.

There was no use in hiding anything now that he knew the truth.  What good would it do her to hide it, when he could possibly find out later.  But at the same time, who is to say that he won't use this information against her.

Kaname lightly pushed his chair back and angled his body to face her.  The arua he let out, the way he looked at her.  Everything of him, that power that lurked underneath that she could even feel lightly brushing against her skin.

Almost as if he was testing her to see just how much she could withstand of his power.  This feeling made his image overlap with her for a brief moment.

With a short hum of approval, Kaname began his questions.  The questions he needed, no, the questions he wanted answered.

He was honestly curious, but there was no need for her to know, "Did your family know?  Does your.... brother know?"

Haruna clenched her jaw tightly, and through gritted teeth answered, "No." She loosened her jaw, "My parents didn't know.... until they died.  I was assigned to...." She drifted off to silence for a few seconds.  But those few seconds of silence were enough for Kaname to understand.

She had been assigned to collect her parents soul.

"Neither of my brothers knew.  And still don't know." She continued, 'And I don't want them to know.'

"Ironically, even though raised as a child of a hunter.  Raised to kill vampires, you also are to collect their souls." Kaname mused.

After a short silence, Kaname continued his questions.

If she had always had a conscious of what she was.  If she was born here as a part of a plan.  And most of all, what was her life before her birth as a human.

Leaning back onto the sofa, Haruna began to answer those questions.

"I never knew what I was.  I grew up with no knowledge of.... my past life.  It wasn't until I received my first assignment.  My first one being that of my parents." She heavily sighed, "But before that I had begun to have dreams of my past.  And it was these dreams that made me realize of who I was.  And that envelope that arrived was further confirmation on that."

She cleared her throat and continued, "And as you saw last night.  I had to do the same with my parents.  The night that she came.  I had to wait until my parents were dying.  I had to wait and hear them suffer in pain!  I couldn't do anything!"  She exclaimed as she tried to rein in her anger, fear and sadness, "It hurt so much knowing what was going to happen and not being to do anything at all except for wait.  I was only able to prevent my brother from meeting the same end as them.  But as for Ichiru.... I don't know anymore of him." She almost sobbed.  But she held it back.  She would not show any weakness in front of him.

But even though she tried her best, and was doing a fairly good job at it, Kaname was able to see and feel all of what she felt.

He could sympathize with her.  He too as well felt the same when his family, his "parents" died.

Kaname waited in silence as she tried to recollect herself to continue with her explanation.

"I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to say all that." She confessed in embarrassment.

Kaname merely nodded in her direction.  He knew if he said anything, he would be further embarrassing her.

"I don't know everything of my past.  I only know fragments of it.  I only know that I was once called Joshua and of course my gender was different than it is now.  Though one thing I know for sure is that I had yearned to live.  To live as a human being.  I seemed to have been tired and I guess yearned to live than just be an existence that would continue to live on and wonder through time.  And collecting the souls of humans.... Vampires alike." She said as her eyes unfocused almost as if she was trying to see that once past of hers, "There seemed to have been others like me.  That wanted to live.  But they all vanished.  I honestly though that he that god was getting rid of us.  But I was given the chance at life." She drifted off to silence.

Their silent breathing was the only sound in that room until Haruna once again continued, "Death will always follow youThat was what I was told.  And it seems it's true.  Since my parents.... died.  I have been given various assignments to collect souls." She closed her eyes, "Is this my punishment for wanting to live?" She asked herself once again as she had one before in her childhood.

"I can't say much of how my life was before this time.  But I would assume that it was fairly much the same as it is now.  Maybe in time I will remember more of that past."

Kaname had spoken up before she could further continue, "Or you yourself as blocking those memories.  Blocking that past, as if you had wanted to forget.  But some of that past has followed you." He said to her, but most of it seemed as if he was speaking of something personal of his own life.

Haruna curiously looked at Kaname trying to figure out why he sounded to familiar with what he was saying, "Could be a possibility." She agreed, "Do you have anything else you'd like to know."

Kaname stood up from his chair and walked towards her, until he was standing in front of her, "How do you recive your 'assignments'?"

She shook her head, "I don't know.  They just appear there where I can see it.  Either in my bed, on my desk.  And even on the floor.  But it's always somewhere." She explained, "As for the contents of the letter, it only has the name of the person, location, time and cause of death.  And even has their birth date.  But.... I'm the only one who can see it."

Kaname furrowed his eyebrows.  At seeing this, Haruna scoffed, "No one aside from me can read it.  To others it seems like a blank piece of paper." She further explained and began to reach into her pocket.

She took out and envelope from her pocket in her uniform jacket, "This is an assignment I recieved this morning."

When she had gone to her room, she found the envelope on her desk.  Without thinking much, she had taken it with her.  And it wasn't until she was on her way to the night class dormitories that she realized that she had brought it with her.  But it would be something to show Kaname in the end.

Kaname reached down for the envelope and took a few steps back until he leaned his hip on the desk.

He looked at the envelope for any visible words on the outside.  When he saw none, he opened the envelope and took out the neatly folded letter.

And just as she had said, kaname was not able to see anything.  All he saw was a blank piece of paper.

Kaname looked up from the letter and looked at Haruna.

She didn't need to be asked, just from the look she could understand that he wanted to know what it said.

"Sawada Atsuko, 14 years old.  Cross Academy main building 2:30 in the afternoon, April 30th.  Cause of death, fall from the stairs." Haruna elaborated with a sigh.

In one week she had to once again collect a soul.

"Can you prevent a death." Kaname stated rather than asked.

Haruna pursed her lips tightly, "Yes.  But eventually that person will die.  And I'll keep getting letter after letter in which that person dies in different places and different causes of death."

She had once before tried to prevent a death.  She had met a young girl she befriended and was very fond of her.  She received a letter to collect her soul.

Haruna was devastated that once again she had to collect the soul of someone close to her.  So she did all that she could to prevent that death, it worked.  But a week later, she received another letter.  In this one, her friend was to die but in a different place, time and cause of death was different as well.

She had no choice but to do as told.

Haruna sighed and quickly explained what she had once done with trying to save her friend.

"I may prevent it, but only for so long.  I faintly remember that if a soul is not collected, it gets lost.  I don't know what that means.  But I think it means that the soul does not know where to go." She said, "And from this, I came to the conclusion that I may not be the only reaper as I thought before.  There would have been so many lost souls if there weren't any reapers.  And I can't exactly be everywhere at the same time.  I'm sure that he wouldn't have allowed that."

"There are many deaths every day.  But I haven't gotten as many letters as I would gave thought.  So I can once again assume that there are more reapers." She concluded.

She shook her head with a sigh, "And now I ask you, what good does it do you to know of who I am and what I do.  What benefits do you gain?" Haruna asked as she gently tucked a few strands of her silver hair behind her ear.

Kaname had silently listened to everything that Haruna had to say.

He won't deny that he had learned quite a bit, but at the same time many if his suspicions had been confirmed.  And all the more he became interested on just how much and how far she could go to complete these assignments that have been assigned to her.

"And now I ask you, what good does it do you to know of who I am and what I do.    What benefits do you gain?"  He heard her soft voice ask him.

Her voice so soft yet so firm at the same time.

"I gain something that I would have wanted to know.  Something to be able to do." He said as he moved to once again sit in his chair, "To be able to know when someone dies.  Especially certain individuals."

He carefully looked at the young girl, taking in her petite form as she furrowed her eyebrows while trying to process what he said.  Then he saw when her eyes shot wide open.  And her lavender colored eyes froze on him.

"You want me to keep tabs on those certain individuals." She stated in shock.

Kaname faintly smirked, "Indeed.  There are many of those individuals that are currently out of the country.  And having you hear would be more accurate in knowing when they would be back.  Of course I'd know before then if they were here or not.  But I would have a better understand of their general location before and during their death."

'And keep tabs on him" He thought to himself.

"There is one in particular that I want you to keep a look out for." Kaname continued, "His name is Kuran Rido."

Haruna's jaw slightly dropped open, "But isn't he dead already? Isn't he your uncle?" Haruna quickly asked.

Kaname observed her for what seemed like minutes, but in reality it was merely a few seconds, "He is indeed my uncle, but as you may already know.  He has killed my father and mother." He paused, "He isn't dead.  To the world, he's dead since he went into hiding.  But he is still alive."

______________________________________________________________________

After they had finished speaking it had been a few hours.

It was almost time for the night class to wake up.  It was four in the afternoon.

There was one question that she had wanted to ask, and now was her chance.

"I have another question for you.  This is.... on a different topic." She nervously said.

"Go on." Kaname encouraged.

Swallowing she asked, "I don't know if it's because I'm still in a way a reaper or not.  But I've been able to feel certain differences or much like an aura I guess, in people.  And even from you.  I can feel your aura even now.  I can feel it." She paused, "I haven't heard of hunters being able to feel it in such a way."

"What are you trying to get at." Kaname was getting impatient.

Haruna hardened her gaze and looked at Kaname even though she was scared of his response, "I had been curious for a while about it.  But now that I have fully felt your aura for a few hours, I'm more curious than before." She licked her dry lips, "What is Yuki to you?  She sometimes gives off the same type of aura as you did.  Though it's much warmer.  I noticed this since I first met her.  But I wasn't sure."

Kaname was stunned to silence.

"Is Yuki related to you?  But she's not a vampire at all.  She couldn't have consumed your blood.  Did she?" Haruna asked as she felt a shiver go up her spine.

The look in Kaname's eyes was terrifying.  He showed no anger, but the look was terrifying.

'Seems like I'll have to change my plans.' He thought to himself as he watched the younger girl sitting on the sofa, who was by now in a cold sweat.

He could see how pale her complexion had gotten.  How her small frame slightly shook.

He knew that he was frightening her and maybe to her at this moment he seemed more like Shizuka, the one who ruined her family.

But he didn't care.  This girl was able to get so close to the truth.  A truth that he has kept hidden for so many years.

"Haruna." His voice, much colder than before, called her name.

Usually he would call her by her surname, but this was the first time he had called her by her name.

She opened and closed her mouth multiple times before answering, "Yes?" She asked in a shaking voice.

He looked at her with blood red eyes as he walked towards her and this time sat next to her on the sofa, "You are to never utter those words to anyone else." He said.  That simple sentence had more than one meaning.

It was a threat.  A threat to her if she dared to say what she had said about Yuki to anyone else.

Haruna nodded, "I won't say anything.  I wasn't planning on saying anything." She said as she overcame her initial fear and shock, "That is none if my business."

Kaname silently watched her before nodding, "Very well."

It was already five in the afternoon and by now everyone in the night class in the moon dormitories could sense that Kaname was with someone.

And that someone was a human.

Ruka was furious that someone was with 'Kaname-sama' and more than once wanted to storm into that room and see who it was.

But on those occasions she had been stopped.

"Do you want Kaname-sama to be angry and punish you?!" Exclaimed Aido, "But you're more than welcome to do so just as long as you don't bring any of us into your problems." He warned her.

She clenched her hands closed and quickly composed herself.

I liked this chapter, the next one will be kind of interesting. Well I think it well be interesting.  I basically think some of the chapters are interesting.  I can't hate on my own child, (technically my child since I created these stories.)

So that's it for now.  Hope you enjoyed it.
