Chapter 3: Death
DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN VAMPIRE KNIGHT, ALL CREDIT GOES TO MATSURI HINO-SENSEI. I ONLY OWN THE PLOT OF THIS STORY.
I once again update this story. I should really work on my other ones more than this one. Sad thing is that I already have a bit of the next chapter for this story typed.
I'l do my best to update, "Guardians undercover" as soon as I can. I just have to stay away from this story for a bit. Which is going to be so hard, since I already have planned out what's going to happen next. I feel like I'll end up updating the next chapter tomorrow. If only I could update all my other stories daily. That would be nice, since I would be able to get it finished.
Anyways, sorry for any grammar or spelling errors. Or if it's just horrible.
Enjoy.

Three more days until the day written in the letter came.
Three more days until her parents died.
They were to die almost near winter. At the end if fall. And the triplets birthday was in the fall.
In October. And their birthday has already passed. It's the end of November now, and it's cold. It's been snowing lately.
Zero And Ichiru played every once in a while out in the snow. Haruna joined them, but she couldn't put her full heart into playing.
After all, in a few days they would be orphans.
~Flashback (To When The Letter Was Received)~
"Y-yeah" Haruna stuttered out, "I'm going to write a letter to oka-san and otou-san. I want to tell them how much I and both my nii-san love them."
Zero nodded, "Okay." He ruffled her hair, earning a yelp of having her hair messed up, "That'll make them really happy. When you're done, can you let Ichiru and I write something on it too?"
Haruna smiled and nodded as she tried to blink away any traces of tears in her eyes, "Then we can give it to them together." She added.
Zero nodded. With one final smile, Zero walked out of the room after getting what he had come in to get.
Once he was out of the room, Haruna let her smile dropped and her hands fell limp to her sides as she slumped to the ground letting the letter and envelope fall to the ground as she lost her grip on the.
"Oka-san.... Otou-san.... is this...." Her words cut off as a sob threatened to come out, but she held it back.
'Is this my punishment for wanting to live?' She though as the tears she had been holding back finally made their way out and ran down her cheeks.
"Death will follow you"
She didn't remember everything from her previous life as a reaper, but she did remember that she yearned to live.

As she had said so, once she had gotten over the sadness and shock of knowing she would have to see her parents die. She got a piece of paper.
She wanted a blank one, so she had left the room and went to the printer they had in the living room. She opened the drawer and took out a few pieces of paper.
Once she had gotten them she quickly went back to the room before she was noticed.

Looking over the paper one last time she nodded and ran out of the room to go look for her brothers.
They were outside as always.
"Zero-nii, Ichiru-nii! I finished." She called out as she ran out the back door holding up the paper she had just.
The two brother quickly dropped the leaves they each had in their hands and ran towards where their sister was at.
Once all three were in their shared room, Zero and Ichiru each took their turn to write whatever they wanted on that paper.
Once there were all done, all three smiled in satisfaction, liking what they had each written.

They both looked at their three children as they had requested for both of them to be there in the living room.
"Is something wrong?" Their father asked as he sat himself next to his wife as the triplets stood in front of them.
All three shook their head.
"Then what is it?" Their mother asked as she tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear.
"We have something for you both." Ichiru said as he grabbed a hold of Zero's and Haruna's hand since he was standing in between the two.
Zero who was holding the folded paper in his hand, took a step forward followed along with the other two.
"It was Haru's idea. But we each put something in it." Zero said as he handed the letter to their mother who was closest to him.
She reached for the paper and unfolded it. Their father leaned in closer to his wife to read as well what it said. Some of his silver hair managed to tickle her cheek as he leaned in closer.
As the seconds passed, their father smiled, and their mother as well smiled but had some visible tears.
They both stood up from the sofa and engulfed their children in a hug.
"Thank you." They both said.
'Dear Oka-san and Otou-san,
I just wanted to tell you that I love you both. Lots! And so does Zero-nii and Ichiru-nii. And we're happy that you take care of us and love us even though we make lots of mess. And I promise that I'll be the best daughter and make us all happier until the end.'
- Haruna
'I promise that I'll try to not get mad at Zero and Haruna for small things anymore. And I'll work hard to become a great hunter like you two and keep you safe. And I'll show everyone that I can be strong too. I'll keep you, Zero and Haruna safe until we're all old. I love you both so much.'
- Ichiru
'Oka-san, Otou-san, I know I get upset at lots of things. But I promise to look out for Ichiru and Haruna. And I'll look after you both too. I love you both and always will. I'll do my best to keep my promise to protect and love you all until we're all old and wrinkly, and after that too.'
- Zero
And at the end of the letter, there were random little drawings. Stars, hearts, and what was supposed to be all five of them together holding hands.
That letter was kept as a precious treasure and treated as if it was the most special thing in the world. Which to them, it was.

As time passed, it began to snow more.
It was a bit odd for it to snow in October. But at the same time it wasn't, since it was already the endings of fall and winter was almost here.
And so was their twelfth birthday.
Which their birthday would be tomorrow. October 24th.
They had thought that they would all spend their birthday together. But sadly not.
That was made known the night before their birthday.

"But it's their birthday. Can't they let us at least pass that day?"
He shook his head, "I already asked them that. But apparently they want this one taken care of immediately. There are rumors that he is involved with Shizuka Hio."
She nodded with a sigh. She then rolled up her sleeves, "I don't care that it's ten at night. Go wake up the kids if they're asleep. We've got birthdays to celebrate tonight." She said as she walked off into the kitchen to prepare what she needed.
She wasn't the best at making cakes, so they had bought one earlier that day. But she sure could cook. And she would make her children their favorite foods and celebrate the night.
And that's how they spent the rest of the night. Celebrating the birthday of the triplets. Who were beyond happy to be able to stay up later than usual.
But they were kind of sad that they would have to spend their actual birthday without their parents.
But they had promised that they would have a proper celebration next year.
A year that would never come. A year that was beginning to come to an end as the days past.
~Flashback End~
Haruna has made sure to spend as much time as possible with their parents. She would come up with random ideas to get the entire family if five to spend more time together.
She wanted to relish the last moments together.
"Is everything okay?" Zero had asked her one morning before breakfast.
Haruna nodded, "Yeah. I've just been thinking of what we can do later on." She said as she put on her socks while sitting on the ground.
"Why do you want us all to spend so much time together?" Zero was honestly curious. He didn't mind to be able to spend time with his family, neither did Ichiru. But why was Haruna so determined to have them all spend time together as much as possible.
Haruna looked up at her brother who was standing in front of her, "I just want to spend time together. We're a family of hunters, and I'm scared that something could happen."

Today is the day. The day that their parents die.
But they have the entire day with them, until night.
During that time, Haruna must prepare herself. She knew what was coming, but still she wasn't ready.

Their breaths were shallow and it hurt to breathe.
They had tried everything they could to stop her to stop Shizuka Hio from hurting them and their children.
They thought that they had managed to hide their children. But never had they imagined that their youngest son would have known that Shizuka would have come.
And they certainly didn't except to see their young daughter looking down at them with such a heart broken expression.
"I'm sorry oka-san, otou-san." She had said through small sobs, "Kiryuu Ren, Kiryuu Shina. Time of death 9:50 p.m cause of death: blood lose due to Vampire Shizuka Hio." She said in a trembling voice.
She kneeled down near them coating her bare knees (since she was wearing pajama shorts) in their blood.
Haruna placed her hands on her parents cheeks, "I'm here to collect your soul." She said as more tears fell, "Goodbye.... Oka-san, Otou-san. I love you both so much." She choked out with a sob.
And with that the two hunters closed their eyes and ceased all breathing. But not before faintly trying to speak.
The Death of the Kiryuu hunters.

The last things he saw before they left were his younger sister throwing herself in between him and the pureblood.
"You can't have him!" He had heard her yell out, "And give back Ichiru! Ichiru please come this way."
'Why did Ichiru help that pureblood?' Zero thought as he tried sitting up from his laying position on the ground outside.
"Such a sad fate that you were born to hunters. Those hunters took from me someone special and important. So I must return the favor. I will take everything from them. Your dear brother will die, and so will you. But as a favor to someone, I will let you live. Live and suffer as I have at losing everything." Shizuka said as she walked closer to Zero and Haruna.
She lifted her arm and wrapped her hand around Haruna's neck, "How easy it would be to break your neck." She squeezed her neck making Haruna gasp.
"Let her go." Ichiru called out, "We made a deal."
After a few seconds Shizuka dropped Haruna and turned her back on them and walked away followed along with Ichiru.

"Please don't leave me too." Haruna cried.
She didn't receive a letter with Zero's name on it, but maybe this was unexpected?
"Please.... just end me." Zero spoke as she slowly lifted his hand and touched his neck, "I don't want to end up like them." Zero spat out in distaste.
"Oka-san and Otou-san are already gone. Ichiru is gone too. I can't lose you now!" Haruna said as she dug her knees further into the snow as she placed her shaking hands on Zero's cheek.
Zero closed his eyes at hearing that his parents were gone. They were dead. He couldn't leave Haruna alone.
Just as it seemed that they both may end up freezing outside, or end up getting killed by some wondering vampire, they both heard the crunching of snow when someone is walking.
Haruna quickly stood up and looked around for anything that could be used as a weapon.
"I'm not here to hurt you." Came the voice of a man as said man pulled back his hood as he came closer to the children, "I'm here to help you."
They both knew who this was. Who didn't?
And at seeing him, they knew that they were no longer in danger.
At least they were no longer in danger of being attacked by any vampire that may have smelled the blood, or from freezing to death.
But the death of their parents would leave a grave wound on them both.

So I don't remember if Zero's parents names were ever mentioned in the anime or manga. I tried looking it up, but couldn't find anything. I was just able to find a simple description of them.
Anyways, I feel like I kind of rushed a bit and messed up on some of the things. I'll update it just to look at it well, then make changes to it. Since I sometimes end up noticing more of the errors I made when I'm reading it after updating.
I can't wait until Kaname and the rest of the night class get involved. Or what else is going to happen to Zero and Haruna. Anyways, what did you guys think? What's your input of what will happen?
So that's it for now. Hope you enjoyed it.
