Meli handed me the whip, "Your ready Amethyst." She whispered. I took it and it lit up in my hands with that pretty silver fire. "You sure?" I ask.
"Positive." She nods. "As long as you remember everything I've taught you, you'll be able to defeat anything in your path."
I scrunch my eyebrows, "Will anything try?"
Her face falls, "Yes my dear." She drops her voice to a whisper. "There is a rival city state nearby that has something against starry night. We don't know why but they do. They will do anything to kill us off. They're stealthy though, they send out spies and assassins. They- They killed my best friend... And Clays lover. She was killed the day before he had planned to ask her to marry him.That's why he's such a flirt. He covers up his pain. But I think he's found her in Aria. I think he's-"
She was cut off by the door creaking open, "Yo" a familiar voice says. "What's going on in here?"
We whip around, "Oh Aria..." I say relieved. "It's just you."
She shrugs, "Who else would it be?" She walks over to us, "So what's going on?" Meli and I exchanged a few worried looks before Meli smiled and said, "Nothing much."
"Really?" She asks. She looks me in the eyes. "Really?" I hated lying to her. But something told me I should. "Yes." I said plainly.

I thought on it more as they talked. If what Meli said was true, Aria couldn't know. One, if this was true about an active rival, she would try even harder to find a way to go home. Two, if she knew about Clays fiancé, she wouldn't be able to let him in even more. She needed to let people in. She needed to have more people in her life that she can trust.

A while later I walked back into the main room of the infirmary to find a very upset looking Chase. "Chase!" I greeted him. "What are you doing here?" I unconsciously twirled a strand of hair. "You here for me?" He looked as he forced a smile as he kissed my hand. He quickly turned to Aria. My face went red not in love, but in anger? No. I didn't know this feeling. Jealousy?
"Aria I need your help." He says.
"Uhh what?" She raises an eyebrow
"Please! I really need your help with something! It's really important."
"What about?"
"What else? The village!" He says quite loudly.
I swayed over and put an arm on his shoulder. "I can help." I say.
"Uhm no thanks Amethyst, this is something only Aria can handle. I really don't need your help right now."
I was stricken.

I'm sorry Chase but.... Aria may be the strong and fearless one. But I'm the smart and stubborn one...
