Chapter 12

"Clay, I swear if you don't stop staring, I am going to stab your eyes out." I heard Aria yelling at Clay to the side of me. I was still shook by the look Clay gave me, the guilt and sorrow in his eyes. He was back to his normal creepy self now, but it still had me thinking. I cut the cheese on my plate and handed some to Aria. She handed me some bread, and I lied some cheese on the bread and took a bite. "So." Clay started, "Where are you from, my love?" He asked. At those words Aria started choking and coughing on her food. "Are you ok?" Kate asked. "Aria, why are you choking?" I asked. I pursed my lips and thought about it. "Aria, was it the my love thing?" I asked. That was a bit obvious, but I had to ask. She nodded, trying to re-learn how to breathe. "Wait Aria, why would- oh..." It finally hit me. "Oh Aria, is it because that's what Laurance always says? Are you still hung up on what happened to him?" I asked. "Of course I am!" She cried, I cracked a smile. "Who's Laurance?" Clay asked, almost growling. "He's not a real person." I explained, his facial expression softened. "He's a character from our favorite seires call Minecraft Diaries by a person called Aphmau. He's Aria's favorite character, and she gets over emotional every time something reminds her of him. He has a very, um, heart wrenching story." Clay shrugged, very confused.

"He literally died for Aphmau!" She shreiked. "Oh Laurance WHY?!?!?!"

"Aria don't you dare start fangirling!!" I warned her. "ok, ok" She started to calm down. "Wow, if Aria likes this character so much, the series must be amazing!" Kate exclaimed. "It's pretty good" I said. "Huh, so you have pretty high standards, don't you Aria?" Clay asked. "What's that supposed mean?" She mumbled. "I'm just saying, if this Laurance character causes you to react like tha, then your standards for guys must be pretty high up there." Clay shook his head and tilted back into his chair. "You know what? I've decided. I'm going ti call you my love from now on." He said. This guy must be out of his mind, no thats putting it lightly, this guy must have a death wish! I thought. "Are you serious right now?" I asked bemused. "Why wouldn't be?"

"Ugh whatever," Aria scoffed. "I hope you fall off that chair, the way you keep tilting it." Kate looked at the two confused, "Wait what's going on?" She asked. "Nothing Kate. You'll understand when your older." Clay answered."

 "Aw, growing up sounds weird!"

"That's because it is."

"Aw, boo."

Aria laughed at the conversation, and I just smiled. "So Amethyst," Clay said. I turned m head to him readying a snarky response. "I heard from Evan that you're pretty good at singing" That caught me way off guard. I felt my cheeks go red and I somehow forgot how to breathe. "h-h-h-he did?" I stuttered. "yes, he said that he heard you and that you sounded great." he said a little to calmly. "Oh," I squeaked. "W-Well that's nice of him to say... but Aria is pretty good at singing too." I added quickly so I could space out. I faintly heard them argue, and go at it again, but I ignored it. Evan? Why was he talking about me? When did he talk about me? I thought feeling my cheeks get redder at the second.  We all went back to eating silently, suddenly someone snatched Kate's last pie. "HE" She cried, we turned to the culprit. He was a drunken man with a very mean looking face. "That's mine!" Kate yelled. "Now it's not." He snorted. Something about this man reminded me of someone... Aria's father. I started fuming, that man... So similar... "Hey, what the hell's wrong with you?!" I fumed. Aira adn i jumped up at him. "What?" he asked. "She's a witch! An orphan at that! She only gets to stay because we let her! Her ow parents didn't want her! No one wants her!" He declared.

Kate was in shock, but she also looked angry. She started shaking like a madman.  "Derik" Clay warned him. I kneeled next to Kate and tried to comfort her. I turned my head to Aria angry. "Aria?" I asked her. "Yes?"
"Make him hurt.." I said evilly. "Ha! A girl's gonna fight me? What a joke!" He slurred. "Your right I'm not going to fight you." She admited. I smirked knowing what her next words were. "I'm going to end you." I smiled, that's my Aria... I thought. Usually I don't end disagreements with violence.. but this was different. I watched as Aria beat the living crap out of the man.  I watched her get up and reach for the knife. I hugged Kate close to my chest and buried my face in her hair. I heard screaming, an then silence. I looked up expecting the man dead on the floor, but as I looked up I saw him scramble out the door. The rest is hazy. I'm not a fan of murder, and Aira has never gone that far before. This is a first, mostly because we're in an alternate universe.

I let go of Kate and she stared at me confused. "Why'd you do that?" She asked. "You didn't need to see that.." I said plainly. As we left the tavern I felt people staring, I glared back at the people and a few smiled and a few waved. No one seemed scared. I growled, almost wanting to fight someone as well. I looked back, back to my normal self. As we walked down the path, Kate's hand in mine, my eyes traveled from the path to Aira's leg. It was bleeding, bad. I screamed. Everyone turned to me, scared. "What is it?! What's wrong?!" She yells, "Aria, your leg!" I shreik. "Uh, what about it."

"It's bleeding..." I told her, immediatly regreted it. "Oh.." She said softly.  She fazed out, she's never been good with her own blood. "Ooh... Don't feel too good... No not feel good." She managed. "Ugh, I'm going down." She fell to her knees and clutched her stomach.

After a lot of frantic, we managed her to Meli. When we got to the infermary, she wasn't there. Kate and I went looking for her. Then it struck me,

I had left her with Clay.

If he tries anything... Pretty boy's gonna die....
