Chapter 11:
"Ooowwww!!!" Kate whined, struggling. "Lemme go! I said I was sorry!" Lobelia had her in her arms. "Put her down, Lobelia!" Mira screamed. "She said she was sorry, and besides, it's not like you can stay angry at her forever!" Lobelia siged and released her. Kate ran to Mira and hid behind her. Somehow they seemed to forgwt we were here.
"Fine I'll forgive her." Lobelia said at last, running her hand through her long icy hair. "not that it matters, you'll probably set my skirt on fire next week..." Kate shook her head, "I'm sorry, I'm still not use to my new cauldron." Lobelia sighed and shook her head again. She turned to us "Hey new girls, what's your names?" She asked
We introduced ourselves again. "Well, I'm Lobelia, that's Mira, and that's Kate." She told us. Mira wrinkled her nose. "I already told them their names Lobelia." She said petting Kate. "Oh. Well now they know our names again." Kate giggled at her. She glared and continued. "As you may be able to tell we're witches. Or apprentice witches. We go to 'Ms. Maggie's School for Witches. It's a boarding school for witches in this region. Actually it's the only school for witches in this region." She explained. "You guys go to a school for witches!" Aria awed. "That's awesome!" I nodded brightly in agreement. "So you learn how to do magic, and make potions, and fly on brooms and stuff?" She added excited. "Yup" Lobelia said amused. "Cool!" I squealed. Aria was going fangirl mode. Should I stop it? Nah. Randomly she hid behind me. I was confused at first but then I looked at Clay's surprised surprised expression. "Hm?" He blinked and shook his head. "Oh nothing . I just didn't think you could look so... Excited?" He smiled a bit. Ari turned away. "So.." I said breaking the silence. "Are there a lot of other girls at the school?" I asked. Lobelia was too busy gaping at Clay to respond so Mira cut in, "Yes. A lot of girls go there. Some boys too. Not a lot though, they seem more interested in guard academies."
"that's a shame." I commented. Mira nodded. "So, how do you get in a school for witches?" Aria asked. "Well, it's pretty easy. Everyone is born with some level of magic. Most people are born with low-level magic, which means they aren't usually able to do it.. however, sometimes, but not ofter, if a low leveled person trains for long enough and hard enough, there'll be able to use magic. Then there're medium level magic users. For example, me Lobelia, Kate, and pretty much all the witches that attend Magic School. People with medium have an easier time learning magic. Then last of all high level magic users. They are very rare.People however that are born with are able to cast the most complicated and powerful spells, the same with potions. Not alot of high level magic people are born though."
"Ok, I uh." Aria breathed. "Ok, I think I understand a few of those words. She said. I giggled, "What? Ok, I'm pretty sure I understand like, 98 percent of that, I understood." I doubled over laughing. "Aww poor Aria" I joked. Aria lightly pushed me over. I waved my arms in front of me, trying to regain my balance, but I failed and fell gracefully on my butt. "oww" I frowned looking at Ari. "oops.." She smiled evilly. "Aria!" I wined. I kicked her feet, causing her to fall as well. "Ow" she exclaimed. There was a burst of laughter above us. We looked up to see Lobelia, Mira, Kate, and Clay laughing hysterically. Aria and I looked at eachother and smiled. When Kate started breathing normally again she took a breath and said, "I like you guys! Your funny!" I stood up. "Well, happy to be of service." I said. "Glad to see that us falling on out butts made people laugh." Ari adds, standing up as well. "Well i think we'll be on our way girls." Clay said when we stopped. I opened my to agree but was interuppted by Kate's growling stomach. "I'm hungry.." She said sheepishly. "Seriously Kate?" Lobelia rolled her eyes. "Ugh, we need to get back to school! Ms. Maggie's already edge with all the weird disturbences in the air, she doesn't need us running off during class."
"Kate, can't you wait until we get back to the dorm?" Mira asked. Kate shrugged and looked down. "Oh, well if you want she can come eat with us." I offered. "I can?" She asked, with widened eyes. I nodded and nudged Aria. "Uh yeah sure. I don't have any complaints." She said plainly. Kate looked at Lobelia and Mira. Mira and Lobelia looked at each other and sighed. "Go ahead but you'll have to do extra studies tommarow since you'll miss today's lessons." Lobelia grumbled. Kate hugged her adn they said their goodbyes. Before they left Mira whispered something in Clay's ear, in a different language. It made no sense, but it was kinda firmilar.
Kate grabbed Aria's and my hand and dragged us to the tavern. We sat at a table, Clay was sitting next to Aria, I smirked at that. "So, uh, what's there to eat here?" Aria asked. "Oh, a lot of good food!" She said kicking her feet under the table. "All the food is tasty." She paused for a second and added in a whisper. "Just don't get the tuna surprise." She shuddered. I chuckeled and she looked at me. "seriously, Lobelia swore that a rat tail was in her tuna surprise once." I stopped laughing and I wrinkled my nose. "Duly noted." Ari said. "Do not get tuna surprise." The barman came to our table. "Hi Mr John!" Kate greeted him. "hi Kate!" John patted her head. "It's nice to see you! Who are your new friends?" He asked. "I'm Amethyst, this is my friend Aria." I greeted him. "Don't mind me.." Clay commented. "I'm just sitting here. Nor remotely important" Mr John laughed. "Hello Clay! You leave these girls alone, you hear?" Clay scoffed, "Oh please! You make it sound as if I mean to eat them. And besides, I'm not interested in Amethyst. No my type."
"HEY!" I screamed, trying to be offended. I wasn't, I like the strong and protective type, whish Clay was not. But I tried to be offended. "So Amethyst is safe from you, but what about Aria here? Is she safe from your advances" Clay tilted his head. "No..." He mused. "I don't think I'll give this one up. She'll be a challenge, but I'm sure it'll be fun." He reached out as if to touch Aria. I held my breath, hoping for my ship to sail. Of course, Aria didn't allow that. "If you value your life you will not touch me." Aria growls. He drew back his hand, "Aria, I think your just the girl to put him in his place." Mr. John chuckled. I couldn't agree more... I thought. "Now enough of this, what would you like to eat?" He asked us. We took our order, Kate got mini meat pies, Clay got a turkey leg, I got cheese and cider and Aria got a loaf of bread... That's right a loaf. "A loaf? Not a roll or a slice?" He asked "A loaf please." She repeated. He nodded and left to make the food. "A loaf?" Clay asked. "Are you really hungry or something?"
"I'm not going to eat an entire loaf by myself." She grumbled at him. "Your not?" I asked, usually that's something she could do... Last time we went out to eat in the real world, she ate an entire large pizza on her own. "Amethyst!" She cried. "Did you serioesly think that I was going to eat an entire loaf by myself?" She asked in disbelief. I shrugged innocently, "It seems like something you'd do..."
"Amethyst I'm going to share the loaf with you! That way we can have bread and cheese." She explained. "Oh ok then." I blushed. "Why is eating an entire loaf seem like something Aria can do?" Kate asked. I smiled evilly, ready to emberass the cray of of Aria. "Oh, please, Aria can eat three loaves of bread if she wanted. One time when we baked cookies, we made twenty-two . I went back to the bathroom and when I came back I discover that Aria ate seven of the cookies in the four minutes I was gone!"
"Amethyst!" Aria whined, slamming her head to the table. I ignored her and continued, knowing she wouldn't tackle me in public. "That's not the only time she's done something like that. Another time, we were eating pasta and-" I was cut off by the arrival of our food. Kate picked up one of the golden pies on her plate and stuffed it in her mouth. "Desh esh good!" She exclaimed. I looked over to Aria who was smiling at the girl, only to see Clay smiling almost sadly at her. I glared at him, and he looked down ashamed. I was shocked, that look of shame... It scared me. What scared me more was that he was chasing after Aria... If she falls for him,
I'll hurt him so bad, he'll need therapy when I'm done with him...
