Falling Hard - 36
Hunter's POV
Keegan was excellent on the slopes today. She pulled off stunts that I could only imagine doing myself. Watching her do the double backflip had my heart racing. Then, when she landed, I thought she might fall, but that wasn't the case. She reached the bottom before I could.
When I met her at the bottom of the slopes, her words still ring in my ears about her wanting me in her bed.
I thought I was doing right by both of us, taking my time. We both have been through breakups, and I don't want Keegan to feel like she's my rebound. I could be a rebound for her, as she recently broke up with her ex.
Ding, my phone goes off, and I leave the shower to look at it.
Suri: Bro, don't overthink taking Keegan out. You deserve to be happy after all the stuff you've dealt with.
Me: I needed to hear that, thanks, Suri.
Suri: I know. I'm with Keegan and told her the same thing I told you. You're going to be speechless when you see Keegan tonight.
Me: Suri,
Suri: What?
Me: You know what. I will see you tonight.
Suri: Okay, I can't wait to see what songs you'll sing tonight since you lost the bet with Keegan.
Damn, I was hoping to get away with not singing. Knowing Keegan, she won't let me hide in the corner.
Me: Shut up.
Stepping back in the shower, I wash my hair and body. I step out and wrap a towel around my body before grabbing a suit and entering my bedroom. I quickly change into the clothes and exit my room.
I sit on the couch and wait for Keegan to finish getting ready.
Suri walks out of the bedroom and moves over to me. She sits next to me and says. "Where are you taking Keegan tonight?
Looking at her, I say. "We're going to La Panoramic."
"Wow," Suri looks towards Keegan's room. "Keegan's going to love that place. Do you remember the avalanche we saw when we were there three years ago?"
"I do." I shake my head. "What about that couple that took photos in front of it, and they got buried?"
"Idiots," Suri pulls at the band around her wrist. "The rescue party took a couple of hours to get them out.
"That's what happens when you take a selfie in front of something as dangerous as an avalanche." A smile spreads across my face. "Do you remember when we got a selfie with something dangerous happening behind us?"
"Yeah, we dragged Ayden out with us because his girlfriend cheated on him. To help him forget, we took him to the NASCAR. While we were taking the selfie, a car crashed into a barrier and caught alight. While our backs were turned, another car spun out and nearly crashed into the wall where we were. Ayden was panicked after that, and we had to take him home. He repeated over and over, 'How stupid we were.'Suri chuckles.
The door to Keegan's room opens, and she steps into the living room a few seconds later. She's wearing a cream-coloured dress that hugs her nicely. Thin straps are over her shoulders, and at the back, they cross over, revealing some of her back.
"You look amazing, Keegan." I grabbed the flowers I laid on the table and moved over to her. "These are for you."
Keegan takes it from me with a smile on her face. "The Sunflowers are beautiful. Thanks for getting them for me. I'll fill a vase and then we can go."
"I'll do it for you." Suri takes the flowers from Keegan. "I'll put them in your room."
"Thank you, Suri." Keegan hugs my sister. "We will see you later. I can't wait for karaoke."
I extended my arm to Keegan. "Shall we go, my lady?"
A smile spreads across her face, revealing her dimples. "Yes, we shall." Keegan places her arm in mine, and we leave the wing.
A limousine is parked out front when we get to the front of the house. The driver steps out and opens the door for us.
Keegan turns towards me. "We're going to draw attention with this car."
"I don't care, Keegan. You're worth the attention."
Keegan's eyes scan the guards around us before she steps into the car and puts on her seatbelt.
I climb into the car, sit beside her, and wear my seatbelt. "Are you okay, Keegan?"
Keegan pulls her eyes away from the window and looks at me. She smiles, and I can tell it's not real.
Something is bothering her, and I'm unsure if she will answer if I ask.
"My ex never took me to a restaurant. My ex would order the food and bring it to my condo. That was date night to him."
"Your ex is an asshole. I'm lucky to show you what it feels like to date someone who likes you a lot."
"Have you taken a girl to this restaurant?"
"Yes," Keegan looks a little hurt and looks out the window. "The girl I've taken to this restaurant is Suri. Other than that, I haven't been there with anyone else."
Keegan turns her head back to me. "Really?"
"Yes, you're the only woman I want to go to this restaurant with. I hope you like it."
"I'll love it." Keegan closes her eyes, and we travel to the restaurant.
It takes fifteen minutes before we pull in front of Le Panoramic. "Keegan," I lightly shake her, and she opens her eyes.
"Are we here already?"
"Yes,"
Keegan unbuckles her belt and looks at me. "Sorry, I fell asleep."
"It's okay," I kiss the top of her head. "It felt nice holding you while you were asleep."
"Creep," Keegan climbs out of the car, leading to the restaurant's entrance. Before she walks through the door, she pauses and looks at the mountains surrounding us. "Damn, this place is amazing."
Putting my hand on the small of her back. "You'll get a better view when we go inside. It's a bit cold out here."
Keegan looks around and then whispers. "Why are there extra bodyguards?"
Turning towards the group, I don't notice additional men with us. "There are six here. Two by the door, two across the dining room, and there will be two close to us."
"There are two behind the plant and two by the emergency exit."
Following her gaze, I pick up on what she said. "Fuck," I pull my phone out of my pocket and look at it. I see a message from my mother.
Mom: I sent additional bodyguards for you, Hunter. Your father and I received threats to your safety, so this is a precaution.
How did Keegan pick up on something like that?
Me: Thanks for letting me know, Mom.
Turning my attention back to Keegan, I say, "My parents received a threat about my life, and they've sent extra guards. How did she get them so quickly?"
"Those guards work for Zane. That's how you got them quickly."
"Are you going to call Zane?"
"No," Keegan looks around the room again. "I stay out of his business. If something is going to happen, it will come to an end quickly. They won't fuck around while I'm around you. Both of our safety will be their priority." She closes her eyes briefly and then takes a breath, letting it out slowly. She opens her blue eyes and looks at me. "We're on a date. Let's enjoy ourselves."
"Let's," we head towards a podium where a woman is standing. She looks up as we approach. "Hi, we have a reservation."
The woman's brown eyes look at me. "Okay, what's the reservation name?"
"Hunter Westbrook,"
The woman's eyes widened once I told her my name. "Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Westbrook. I should have recognised you upon arrival."
Holding my hand up, I say. "It's okay. Can you show us to the table, please?"
"Yes, follow me." The woman leads us to a private booth hidden in the back. "This is one of our private booths. Can I get you something to drink?"
"Can we get a bottle of your expensive red wine?"
"Sure, I will be right back with that." The woman walks away to get the bottle of wine.
"We don't need the expensive kind, Hunter. The cheap would get us drunk too."
"It's not about getting drunk. It's about the taste."
Keegan rolls her eyes at me. "Typical rich man."
I laugh.
Keegan starts laughing alongside me. "We're eating steak tonight?"
"Yes, it's been a while since I've had a good one."
The woman brings the wine to the table. She gives me a small amount and tells me to try it. "It's good." She pours two glasses.
Keegan looks at the woman and says. "We'll have two steaks with vegetables and fries."
The woman writes the order on the pad. "How would you like the meat?"
"Medium to well done, for mine. I'll have the pepper steak sauce." Keegan says,
"I'll have the same."
The woman walked away from our table and entered our order into the kitchen.
Leaning close to Keegan, I ask, "Do you want to hit the slopes during the week?"
"Okay, but I'm not going to race you. I don't want you to eat snow again."
"That was one time. I can beat you next."
"Do you want to put money where you're mouth is?"
"No," I say. "Besides, my money means nothing to you. I'll offer time in my bed."
"Now look at who's being forward." Keegan leans forward. "I meant what I said. Tonight you will be in my bed. If something happens between us, I won't mind. Having a couple of drinks won't make me change my mind about being intimate with you." She moves over to my side and sits in my lap. "Kiss me, Hunter."
My lips touch hers, and I deepen the kiss, which causes her to moan.
Keegan pulls away a couple of minutes later. "That's one of the best kisses I've received."
"It's the kind of kiss I want to last a lifetime. Can I be forward?"
"Of course, Hunter. That's something I want to hear from you."
"I'm falling hard for you, Keegan. I know it will lead to love, and I hope it's the same with you."
"Hunter, I feel the same way. I'm not saying I love you. However, I'm heading in that direction."
"Great," I smile at her. "Then I have no problem being in your bed tonight. I want to make sure that we were on the same page."
"We're on the same page. Sometimes, I worry about being a chapter ahead."
"You mean with the intimacy?"
"Yeah,"
"That part, you might be ahead of me. I can catch up, though. You're worth it, Keegan and I don't want to lose you."
"You will never lose me. I might lose you, though."
"Why would you think like that?"
"You don't know my name. You might not want anything to do with me when I tell you, and that part scares me."
"Tell me. Who are you?"
Keegan shakes her head. "I can't tell you right now. I might be able to tell you later on tonight."
"Okay," I stand and move to her side. Wrapping my arms around her, I whisper. "When we are intimate, I want to know the name of the woman with her hands wrapped around my heart."
Keegan closes her eyes and then looks at me. "You own my heart, too, Hunter. I love being here with you."
Dinner arrives, and we start to eat. Keegan and I laugh and joke while eating.
Before long, dinner is over, and we're moving towards the limousine. We climb in and tell the driver to take us to the bar.
