~ Two ~

"Belle!!!!" My best friend, Ariella White, comes barreling around the corner of the hallway and nearly knocks me over.

"Yesh, Ariella." I rolled my eyes. She was practically bouncing in place.

"Your assistance is needed down there." She pointed in the direction she had just came from.

"New or existing?" I asked, all business now. After all, being the school match maker IS sort of my business. One I don't get paid for, but, hey, I enjoy it.

"Existing. It's Stephanie and Zac." Ariella briefed me, as we made our way into the lunch room. That's it, double time.

Typically, Zac & Stephanie, who had been dating for some time now, would be sitting together running the school bank. They were always scheduled together. Today they were both behind the counter, but it was one at either end, and Stephanie was sitting with tear filled eyes.

"Stephanie. What's wrong?" I asked, worriedly.

She sniffled, glancing briefly at Zac, then lowered her voice to a sobbing whisper. "Zac's parents don't want him dating me."

"What!" I stumbled backwards. I have been friends with Stephanie since grade school, and she is sincerely one of the sweetest persons you would ever meet. She had been there for me through some rough times, and helped me to come to where I am now. When her and Zac got together, they were adorable, and I was so happy for them.

She nodded, explaining how the break up had happened and what he had said. I really looked at Zac for the first time. He hadn't wanted this either. I could see it all over his face. He was watching Stephanie now, like the little kid that had lost his best friend.

"Okay..." I took a breath. And the next words that came out of me, were almost like I wasn't even the one saying them. Like someone else was putting the words through me. I watched as the peace eased over the couple's face. They looked at each other, without saying a word for a moment. Then Zac smiled, taking Stephanie's hand in his.

"I love you, Stephanie. They just don't know you. You aren't in my way." The soft spoken Zac smiled.

I waved to Ariella, and we left the lunch room like the Lone Ranger and Tonto, quietly and without anyone noticing. It was good to be the match maker. The fixer upper.
