Title: 5/5 - At first I would have said it was a strange title for this type of story but upon reading, I found out that the demon dog is actually called 'Rex' so I have come to to conclusion that this is a pretty cool title and suits your story well.

Cover: 5/5 - Automatically I would assume it is a fantasy book based on the cover alone (you have done well to convey this to the audience and I liked that.)

Synopsis: 5/5 - This is good, it's simple and short yet it conveys the mystery and is effective in making me want to read on.

Plot: 2/5 - There wasn't much of a plot here until the very end (so I'm going to assume this wasn't a chapter chapter but more of something to get your readers to understand who the characters are.) but your descriptions were very good and strong.

Characters: 4/5 - You have very good character development. The two boys seem likeable enough and I could image them as real people. Also, the dog intrigues me the most and I definitely would read on to see what happens to him.

SPG: 5/5 - There were no errors that I could see and the chapter flowed really well.

OVERALL: This was an interesting start to your story. My only issue with it is that you do a lot of telling and not enough showing. For example, instead of telling us what your characters look like and how they act all in one go, you could feed us small tidbits of information throughout the chapters.
