The next morning, Azure found herself not alone in the chamber now. She heard small clinging noises and awoke to find one of the scientists at a desk she hadn't noticed was there until now. Azure rose to her paws as she glared at the cat as they acted as if she weren't even there, until they turned to her. "Oh, you're awake now." He had said as Azure arched her back. "Ghost was right about you. You are a feisty one." He said simply as Azure released her tension within her muscles as the sound of her father's name. "Where is Dad? Where am I?" She demanded as he smirked slightly before snorting. "You're in the test chamber. Deep within the earth is where we keep those who have potential in something much bigger." He explained as Azure listened. "I suppose—" Azure cut him off sharply. "Where's my brothers?" She demanded once more as she flattened her ears against her head. "Your brothers? Well they're above ground. Ghost and the others didn't see potential within them and so, we placed them under good care. They won't suffer the same fate as you." Azure noticed that this tom was a ginger tabby but he was wearing a white coat over his body, she narrowed her white eyes at him. "Ghost said that you have great potential within you, the only problem was that you refuse most of the things he would offer you unless you liked it." The ginger tabby scientist said calmly as he gazed back down at his work. "Ghost will be here shortly, so, if you have anything to say to him, that will be your chance." He said before grabbing a few things before turning to her. "I have to give you a physical checkup." He said as Azure backed away from him. "What's that?" She questioned as he gazed into her white pupils. "It's where we check if anything is wrong with your body, like if you have a broken leg or anything like that." He said as Azure relaxed. "Fine." She said as she let him examine her. Time had passed as he checked her legs, her arms, her paws, her ears, her spine, her tail, basically anything they would have to know of as a physical checkup. "There, you're all done." He said as Azure turned to him as he wrote down a few things before turning away from her and opening the door. Azure stared after him as he opened the door and shut it, and before leaving, he locked each lock that the door contained and soon, his paw steps faded. All there was was the quiet sound of dripping water. Azure had curled up into a ball as she gazed at her paws. Please be okay and safe, Silver, Jet... She told herself as she clenched down on her teeth and paws as she closed her eyes. "I was told your physical went well." A familiar voice sounded as Azure snapped out of her thoughts and lifted her head to see the distinctive black-and-white coat of her dad. "Dad!" Azure said as her heart lifted at the sight of her dad. "What's going to happen to me?" She said as worry filled her thoughts. "You're going to be fine, just hush and listen." He said harshly as Azure flinched back. "Stay still now." Ghost meowed as he turned to his daughter and as he held a needle with a weird light blue substance within it. Azure flinched and backed away but Ghost growled with impatience before Azure noticed and stood still, scared that her father would hurt her. Ghost pierced his daughter's skin with the needle as she flinched as he pushed it within her neck before injecting the substance within his daughter. The moment the substance entered her body, she flinched and let out a yowl of pain as she collapsed. Ghost grit his teeth as she struggled as he injected the entire substance into her neck as he removed the needle and drew back as Azure squirmed on the bed. Azure felt as if her body was on fire, but on the inside as she wriggled in pain, she squirmed as if she were trying to get small bugs off and out of her pelt. She rolled and thrashed as she felt the stuff that was in the needle spread throughout her body. Ghost watched in amazement as Azure seemed to grip at her neck as if something was tightening its grip around her throat. He watched as white fur began to creep along the backside of her neck and started to flare up as if she were bristling her fur. Azure felt something else flow within her body as she clenched down on her teeth, struggling to keep in the yowls of pain as she shut her eyes tight. "Amazing!" Her father gasped as Azure squirmed more violently. Her eyes then turned completely black as her eyes had snapped open. Only her pupil was left white as she felt the pain easing away. She fell still as she gasped for breath. "This is good. The experiment is going well!" Azure heard her father's words snap her from her thoughts of pain as she had her back turned to him. Azure struggled to her trembling paws as the white fur around her neck flared up more like a lion's mane, standing out from the rest of her fur. Azure then lifted her head to her father and glared at him. "What did you do to me?" She panted as sweat dripped down from her head. "I gave you some of the substance I've been working on." He said as Azure's white pupils were sharp with fury. "I will have to give you that same amount each day to see the full result of my project." Ghost said as Azure flinched back. "Don't be surprised to get the same feeling tomorrow when I visit you." Ghost said as he turned away and left the chamber while Azure struggled for breath still. Once her father left, she collapsed once more and heaved as she laid on the bed. I hope Silver and Jet are fine... I hope that guy's words were true that they are being well taken care of... She said to herself as she could barely keep her eyes open. Azure soon felt her vision become blurry as her strength faded. She then realized that she had fainted.
