The day was sparkling like the sunlight on the morning dew that crystallized the grass. The morning air was crisp but light, like a gently sharp feathery feeling. The sky was clear and blue, lifting the spirits of the teens as they woke. Most of them arose with smiles on their faces and a warm feeling in there chests; it was just one of those days that made them feel comfortable and cheerful. Even Rogue, the newest member to the team, seemed to be a little happier. She waved to Kitty as she rose from bed with the smallest hint of a smile. The younger teen was a little surprised to see her roomate give her such gestures, but she could not help but return the smile with one of her own, bright and escalating as she waved back. Rogue said nothing as she left the room, but she felt more like she was walking on air rather than the hard wood floor.

She casually popped her head into the bathroom, checing to see if anyone was already there. Satisfied that the other girls hadn't arrived yet, she walked in, but decided to leave the door unlocked. She liked her privacy, but she supposed today she wouldn't mind a little but of company. The teen pushed down the urge to hum to herself as she got our her morning things, brushing her teeth right away and ending it with a little swish of mouthwash. It was then she began with her make-up, her normal dark colors of the everyday. As she slid some mascara over her eyelashes, she paused to frown at herself. Today just felt so different... why go about it the same way she always did?

It was a few minutes later when Jean arrived, rubbing her eyes tiredly and pulling some hair out of her face. Even with her unkempt morning look, she was still beautiful, sleepy green eyes still sharp and shining. Rogue glanced over as she laid lipstick over her fuller lips, raising an eyebrow as the taller girl walked right past her to a stall. Only a moment later, Kitty arrived, carrying with her a few clothes and a scrunchie. Her hair was down, a rare sight, but it looked ready for cleaning.

The spunky girl paused right by Rogue to brush her teeth first, setting down her things. Her brown eyes swept over her goth roomate, widening with adorable surprise as she went over her face. "Rogue!" she gasped, smiling with playfulness. "What have you done to you face?"

The other teen pulled the peach lipstick away from her face, turning to give her younger friend a small grin. "Ah don't know, really. It's a nice day, and Ah thought I would change things up a bit." She looked at herself in the mirror, smiling a little bigger to see if she liked it. Her lips were brighter and purer, and her eyes were sparkling with light skin colors. Her mascara and eyeliner was still dark, but her cheeks were now a sunshine pink that totally did not match her pajamas.

Kitty giggled, studying her. "It is so not you," she said with a shake of her head, "but I like it! You just need a few touch-ups!" She opened a drawer and dug around, pulling out a brush and a hairtie.

"Touch-ups?" Rogue questioned, cautiously. She knew Kitty was good at looking good, looking cute. She knew that cute was not her own style, and that her roomate knew better than she did how to make it look. However, sometimes her little friend could worry her. This was one of those times.

Kitty immediately began to run the brush through Rogue's wild hair. "Shush, I'm an expert," she told her ask she began to pull some of Rogue's bangs out of her face. "I'm going to make you look great for this wonderful day!"

Rogue frowned a little but didn't struggle. She closed her eyes, now afraid to look in the mirror and see what her altered self would look like. She heard water begin to run, and at first was afraid that Kitty had turned on the sink and was going to give her a "morning splash" or something else along the lines of her strange cutesy style. She realized it was just Jean starting her shower, the reason why the redhead had passed her before.

Kitty kept messing with Rogue's hair for a few more minutes, her tongue sticking out a little as she worked, although Rogue couldn't see it. After tying her hair back just right, she leaned back and smiled in satisfaction. Seeing that her roommate was still closing her eyes, she giggled and placed her hands over Rogue's face, covering her vision. "Ready for the reveal?" she said.

Rogue shrugged, now a little nervous to see herself. She imagined she looked like a mess, totally not ready for the day. She had started wanting something different, but now she was afraid to learn that this kind of different would look awful. However, she allowed her eyes to flutter open when Kitty pulled her hands away. A little gasp left her as she stared at an entirely different person in the mirror. Her face was just the same as before, bright and sparkling, but somehow everything else was not the same. Yet, it fit. Her hair was silkier somehow, brushed to perfection and sheening. It had been pulled into a small messy bun above her head, pieces of both dark and white hair strangling out in several places, somehow neatly. The scrunchie matched her make-up, and she noticed that she somehow looked almost younger like this.

Kitty smirked at her accomplishment, hands on her hips. "Alright, go back to our room and don't let anyone see you! I'm going to help you pick out an outfit after I shower. I'll make it really quick, I promise!" Without waiting for answer, she gathered her things again and took off into a stall, closing the door and getting undressed.

Rogue was left slightly stunned, staring after Kitty with a shocked and bewildered expression. She pulled herself together with a sigh, glancing at herself once more in the mirror. She actually kind of liked it, at least for today. Somehow today was special, so she could keep it like this for a little while. Gently brushing a bit of the stray strands of her hair while smiling a little at herself, she put away her morning things and snuck back to her home. Glad no one had noticed her, she closed the door behind her and sat on her bed, patiently waiting. She could enjoy this. If she really tried, this could be a really good day.

Kitty returned about ten minutes later, her hair still very wet and her face clean. A towel was wrapped around her body as she held her bundles of clothes and a hair dryer. However, smiling happily at Rogue and bounding towards her, she did not seem so concerned with how she looked. Rather, she looked excited to continue what she had started, something that made Rogue smile again.

"You didn't try anything on, did you?" Kitty asked hurriedly, placing her things down and opening Rogue's drawers.

"No," she replied simply, fiddling with the sleeve of her pajamas. "Ah mean, Ah dunno what to pick out for me to wear anyhow, not lookin like this." She gestured to her face and hair.

"Oh, you are going to look great!" her little roommate replied cheerfully, still looking through Rogue's things. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing! Ugh, do you only have goth?" she added as she threw some more shirt out of the drawer, digging more frantically now.

The other teen crossed her arms and did not answer, frowning and waiting. Finally, Kitty found something she liked, her smile still big as she sized it up against Rogue. The older girl said nothing still, just watching in slight awe. How had she managed to find something like this among her things? Kitty was giddy as she put the shirt against the bed and looked for some nice pants to go with it.

"When I'm done, you're going to look so good even Professor's jaw will drop!"

Rogue sheepishly tugged at some of her bangs, her eyes looking everywhere but ahead. Kitty elbowed her playfully and gestured to all the shocked faces in the dining room, her eyes glistening with "I told you so". The older, normally goth teen cleared her throat at glanced down at her beautifully odd appearance. Her face was sparkling with gentle, light make-up, her cheeks rosy and her eyes appearing more bright in color. Her lips were full and peachy pink, matching her eyes and the scrunchie in her hair perfectly. Her hair shone from the lights above them and the sun that peeked through the windows. Around her neck was a silver chain necklace with a little heart key at the end, dangling just above her breast. She was wearing a large tinted pink sweater over her, one that went past her waist and near her thighs. Under that were grey leggings under a white skirt. Her hands were hidden by the long sleeves of the sweater, and she wondered how on earth she would get her homework done.

The looks on all of their faces, though, was worth it.

Jean was the first to snap out of it, walking towards Rogue with a smile. "You look amazing!" she breathed, placing a hand on her shoulder and sending warm feelings through the younger teenage girl.

Evan shook his head and cleared his throat, a slight pink sliding over his cheeks. "Why the change of style, Rogue? I mean, not sayin it don't look good or nuthin, but I mean.. it's so random, you know?" he rambled, hardly able to speak clearly.

Rogue just causally shrugged her shoulders, despite the fact that she was a little flattered. "Ah honestly don't know mahself. Ah just thought Ah would give the whole 'lighter' style a try today," she replied nonchalantly. She was being honest; she did not really know why she had had a change of heart today. Again, maybe it was just one of those days.

"I helped, of course!" Kitty said proudly, flipping some of her hair and smiling wide at the new Rogue. "She never would have been able to accomplish this without me."

Scott also cleared his throat, smiling at Rogue and sending butterflies through her stomach. "You look great, Rogue, really."

Kurt, hanging from a light from the ceiling, gave her a furry blue thumbs up, still not having activated his holographic watch. "I think ve can all agree on that, madchen!" he said cheerfully, his tail swinging back and forth a little bit.

Logan, sitting by the windowsill, crossed his arms, and Rogue could see a small hint of a smile over his lips. Just as fast as it had come, it was gone, and the short man was on his feet. "Alright, enough gawkin, ya cocky kids," he said with a wave of his hand, beginning to walk out.  "Eat up and head out. You still got school today."

"Not so fast, Logan," came Xavier's voice. The students and Logan all turned their heads towards the door, watching as the Professor and Ororo entered the dining hall. Xavier had his gentle smile plastered over his features, and Ororo looked calm and peaceful as ever. However, everyone could feel something in the air, which meant something was up.

"There a problem, Chuck?" the gruff man replied, already looking ready to fight something.

Xavier hummed slightly and clasped his hands together under his chin. "I am not entirely sure. Cerebro picked up another mutant signature just this morning, but there was not much data on them. I could only make out their location, and even that it sporadic at best," the professor explained.

Rogue shifted uncomfortable, already not liking this turn of events. "Professor, does this mean we have to skip class?" she asked slowly. For once in her life, she had actually been looking forward to going to school today; she felt different and special today, but now it was looking as if she wouldn't really get the chance to feel that way this morning. Kitty felt her pain and patted her arm, looking at her apologetically.

Evan, on the other hand, seemed all for the idea. "Alright, no sitting in a boring classroom all day!" he cheered. If anyone else was as happy about it as he was, no one showed it.

"Certainly not, Rogue," Xavier replied, his gentle smile returning and pushing relief into the teenage girl. "The area where the mutant is located is quite deserted; I would only need to send a few of you out today, seeing as it is a school day. Scott, Jean," he said, turning to the two oldest teens of the group, "you and Logan will take the BlackBird to scope the area, and hopefully find this mutant. I hope you do not mind."

Scott shrugged his shoulders while the redhead smiled. "No problem, professor. We can make up."

Logan sighed a little, crossing his arms. He obviously was not too happy with the idea of going with company, but nevertheless, at least they weren't all coming. He nodded in everyone's general direction and walked past Charles, ready to head out right away. Scott waved and hurriedly said a brief goodbye, see you later, before going after the shorter man.

Rogue breathed a sigh of relief, happy that she could enjoy her day from a new perspective. Kitty smiled up at her and Jean squeezed her shoulder comfortingly before following the two men out. Rogue silently waved goodbye to them, her eyes distant but her smile genuine. The goth teen was actually still quite surprised with herself; somehow this beautiful day had changed her completely.

"The rest of you will be heading to school," their professor said with a hint of amusement in his voice. He nodded towards the other teens, only one of which, Evan, groaned.

Ororo placed a hand on her hip with a hint of a smirk. "You most likely cannot afford to skip many more classes, Evan," she said with a slightly scolding voice.

Rogue smiled to herself as the morning began to continue, walking past the youngest and most frustrated teen to the table and grabbing herself from breakfast. She ate silently, tuning out the rest of the world and letting herself drone over her own thoughts. So far, today had been nice. She wouldn't like to do this everyday, but she supposed there was not anything wrong with doing something different every once in a while. Still, she wondered what had caused her change of heart. Maybe it was because she had recently joined the X-Men? They did make her feel much more welcome than Raven ever had, and even though she was pretty anti-social, she did enjoy their company and friendship, especially Scott's. Perhaps the warm and fuzzy feelings were making her loosen up just a little.

Then again, it could just be that she was ready for something different.

Or maybe it was just the calm breeze of the fresh morning air?

Rogue's thoughts were disturbed when something bumped her arm. She looked up from her plate, a cinnamon roll bite still in her mouth, to find that it was Kitty who had bumped her. The younger girl was sitting beside her, a pout on her face.

"Were you even listening to me?" she asked with a huff. "I've been talking to you for the last two minutes!" she whined, obviously not happy with Rogue accidently brushing her off.

The now not-so-goth teen swallowed and shrugged her shoulders apologetically, taking another bite right away so she wouldn't have to engage in conversation, although she did keep her eyes on Kitty to let her continue. The brown-haired girl sighed and shook her head.

"I was asking you about that new mutant Professor's wacky machine picked up," she said, leaning in and lowering her voice. "What do you think they'll be like?"

"Well, the machine didn't have much luck figurin that out, so how would Ah know?" Rogue replied with another shrug, taking another bite. "Ah would reckon that's they're just like the rest of us were, though."

Kitty cocked her head. "What do you mean by that?"

"Whoever they are, Ah imagine that they're scared and confused, too," she said quietly, glancing away from her roommate. Her thoughts wandered back to her recent experiences, her whole new world, her whole new, and dangerous, power. Her expression turned slightly crestfallen and she shook those thoughts out of her head all over again.

"You're probably right," the other said slowly. "But if they are anything like the rest of us, I'm sure they'll be happy for the new opportunity!"

Rogue rolled her eyes, deciding not to say that both she and Kitty had been very reluctant to join the X-Men. She finished up her breakfast and gathered her things again, glancing over everyone. "Come on, we should probably head out now," she said as the others all got up and got ready to go as well. Kitty got up quickly, her ponytail bouncing, and went after her, waving at the Professor and Ororo as they passed.

"Oh, and Rogue," Xavier called, leaning forward in his chair a little bit.

The teen froze and turned back slowly, a bit nervous. She trusted the X-Men now, but her shyness and introvert personality made her anxious whenever the Professor called her. At least, for the time being. Was she in trouble for something?

"You look very nice today," he said simply with a smile, taking the controls on his chair and turning to leave. Ororo nodded to her with a similar smile before following the Professor out, calling out a quick goodbye to Evan.

Rogue found herself smiling as she hurried again after the others as they left. She was sure that nothing could ruin this day for her.

~

Welp, that's the first chapter!! LOL I know it wasn't much, and it was kinda silly, but I wanted some fluff for the beginning. My character will be introduced shortly, don't worry!!

Please let me know what you think in the comments!! A lot of my other works that were based on other fandoms (so, not Transformers) did not get a lot of good ratings, and that's why I got rid of some of them.. I don't want to delete this one, so please let me know what you think! Even some suggestions for change are welcome!

Till next chapter!
