--Chapter 3--
As the days turned into weeks since Wakiya's disappearance, he visited me more and more. He was still very sensitive about the topic of the beyclub, and any other thing that seemed too deep to discuss, but he was slowly opening up to me.
One thing we never talked about, however, was his disappearance.
Neither of us brought it up. It seemed like a forbidden thing, something that we weren't allowed to go near.
Until today, that is.
"Why don't you come back forever?" I blurted out, as we were sitting on a park bench, staring up at the starry sky.
Wakiya looked at me. "I can't," he replied simply. He kept his voice level, but I could see the anxiety in his eyes.
"What's stopping you?" I demanded, my voice rising.
"Because... because I'm not really here."
"What are you on about? You're right here. I can see you."
"You can see me," Wakiya agreed. "But does anyone else?"
I looked around. There was no one else in the park, as it was very late. "I don't know," I shrugged.
"Have you seen anyone else speak to me?" Wakiya persisted.
"Well... no."
"There you go." Wakiya leaned back, looking satisfied.
I had no idea what he was getting at. I couldn't think straight at the time. To me it just sounded like he was saying that he hadn't tried to talk to anyone else since he returned. I didn't realize that what he was saying was that he couldn't.
I also didn't notice the fact that he never let me touch him. And when I managed to do so, it was like my hand went right through him. It was like he wasn't even there.
I never realized that that was the case.
It wasn't until the new year that I suspected anything. Wakiya showed up less and less, until he only seemed to visit me once a month, sometimes less. I thought less and less about him, too. It was like he had drifted out of my memory, the same way he must've drifted down that river.
But everything must go.
Soon, he simply stopped showing up altogether.
I stopped thinking about him.
I moved on.
And if you need an expalnation.
Years went by.
When he never once crossed my mind.
Then everything must go.
I eventually married Valt in the end. I was happy.
One day I was rummaging through some old things, and I found my note.
I could still remember every word written on it.
That is when I realized.
I had moved on. I didn't need him anymore.
I had accepted it.
Everything must go.
Yeah... I know I said I'd make this story longer than I first intended, but this just seemed like a good place to end. Also, it's NOT easy writing on a laptop.
I may add an epilogue if you guys want one. Or maybe even a 4th chapter, idk.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this story,. And I just hope that you can forgive me that it's so short lol. Let me know what you think of it all!!!!!
