Introduction
EVENTIDE ⸻ the end of the day; evening
The Botterills were an anomaly. Even among the 41 other children spontaneously born at once – what were the chances the two would be cousins? You could call it fate, if you believed in that.
Neither of them do, of course. Though Jess considered it incredibly luck. If not for her aunt, she likely would have ended up in the foster care. Or even worse; in the hands of Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
Yet the Hargreeves continued to find their way into their lives. In more ways than one.
Ciana Hargreeves had been famous since she was thirteen. A member (a former member? That was her family, could it ever be former?) of the Umbrella Academy, it was the kind of fame that you can never escape. The kind that was baked into her childhood; baked into her very essence. Ciana could never escape it.
Maybe that's why she never tried. Maybe that's why she didn't even leave the city she was raised in. There was no point in running, there was no place where she would be normal.
At least until, she found the Botterills. For the first time she fit in with someone other than her siblings. After all, the special children had been born all around the world. What were the chances that three of them would meet each other, with no prompting from an outside force.
Okay...maybe there was some prompting from an outside force. But that's getting ahead of ourself, isn't it?

Author's Note: I started writing the original Eventide before season 2 had even come out.
Now I am re–writing it with the final season just finishing and two supplement books having been written (Umbrella Academy: The Commission Handbook and Umbrella Academy:Young Blood.) So it should be no surprise that there will be some changes from the original Eventide, since I'm writing with a full set of lore instead of adapting as things change.
However, this will also be an AU from the original show. Namely...I intend to end the story at season 3 instead of season 4. Aside from just being bad, I also feel like the S4 ended up being largely redundant plot–wise, since they end on the same place as S3 (they need to let the world end and be re–written; the only difference is the addition of a shitty message in S4.)
Also, I plan to be removing Luther/Allison and Luther/Sloane. The incest was unnecessary, and while there's some argument of if Luther/Sloane is incest (they're not biologically related, and they weren't even raised together as siblings) the way the Sparrow Academy is treated in this book makes it a little weird (Mainly Ciana considers them siblings, so they get called siblings a lot.)
I've gone back and forth on how to refer to Viktor pre–transition. I've eventually decided to treat it the same as I do with some of my other non–immediately–out trans OCs. I'll use Vanya – since that was his name at the time – but use they/them and gender neutral terms.
You can assume that the characters are actually using she/her and female terms, since they have no idea he's trans yet, but it's been translated through the nature of third person.
Despite this, I will not be having Viktor deadnamed or misgendered in the comments. I don't know how many people are still upset about that, but if you are one of them, this isn't for you.
