Twisted Brothers (OneShot)

Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddddddd
My fantasy is complete.
For now....
I only touched this one a little bit. I like how it's written.

Two brothers faced each other in the anti void.

One with his bow.

The other with the gooey tar decorating his bones.

Both were evenly matched other then Dreams slow reflexes. Nightmare always jumped on an opportunity to hit his overly positive brother. He wanted to break Dream, just like the those creatures broke him. Wanting to wear Dream down so he couldn't muster the strength to fight any longer, to make Dream suffer like he had.

"Nightmare! Brother, please stop this!" Dream yelled while fending off some of Nightmares tar ridden tendrils. He was able to splatter three with his arrows but missed one.

Nightmare took the opportunity, since Dreams actions had slowed a considerable amount, to trip him.

"Ack!" Dream fell belly side down with a thud. He was breathing heavily, quite exhausted. But he pushed himself back up with great effort, golden magic surrounded him like a makeshift shield. Dreams bow was clutched tightly in hand as he stumbled to his feet.

How long had this battle been going on? Hours? Days? It's quite unclear.

Nightmare, also quite exhausted had beads of sweat decorating his tar smeared skull. His magic was running low. The tendrils he was using don't require magic, but the past magic based attacks he had tried on Dream only nicked him. Dream was too fast in those situations where magic was in use. Nightmare couldn't understand, it baffled him that his brother was so strong even with a silly toy bow.

"Brother please," Dream's voice was raspy, dry from fighting while trying to speak loudly, "I can help you. If you just let-" Nightmare cut Dream off with loud laughter, a maniacs laughter, as he tossed his head back in amusement.

"Let you what? Pffft, surround me in positivity? I'm the king of nightmares Dream! Wheres the positivity in a NIGHTMARE?!" Nightmare bellowed as he tilted his head to the side, a wide menacing grin plastered on his face.

Despite his exhaustion he wouldn't just give in, this pest needed to die! Or at the very least needed to suffer! Dream always got in Nightmares way. So in turn Nightmare wanted to fill Dream with hatred and dread. He wanted to remove any and all positive emotion in the multiverse. That would require actually acquiring Dreams soul though. That task in itself is difficult, impossible at best.

Dream held his tongue, he knew that he wouldn't be able to get through to Nightmare at this point. They had been fighting for so long that Dream understood talking was useless. But he wouldn't just give up on his brother. They had been through way too much. Dream had enough of this, this fighting, this suffering. He just wanted his brother back, his smiling, book reading, loving brother that he had lost all those years ago.

Nightmare's tendrils bashed against the golden bubble around Dream. Dream wincing at each hit.

The bubble wouldn't hold for long, Dream was already beaten and he knew it. He lifted his bow and pulled the string back, a golden arrow formed. This time he didn't aim it at a tendril, he aimed it at his brother.

If Dream couldn't get through to him with talking, then he would take into consideration of actually surrounding Nightmare in positivity. Dream just needed a distraction, and the arrow lined up with Nightmare would be his distraction. He would make it work. He channeled as much energy as he could muster into the arrow while leaving a little for himself so he could move.

A few more bashes on the makeshift shield and Dreams plan would be set into action.

Nightmare caught on to his tiny bow and arrow, his smile widening impossibly wider than before, "Oh? Are you going to try and shoot me with that toy arrow?" He taunted, starting to laugh again.

Nightmare met Dreams determined eyes. No fear was held with in them, just positivity. Nightmare snarled, he hated it, his anger spiking higher because of it.

Dream's arrow grew in size and strength. This arrow, a glimmer of hope, as long as Nightmare stayed still. Dream couldn't, wouldn't lose Nightmare again. Not this time.

The shield shattered as Dream launched the arrow.

Nightmare didn't move, he was determined to show his 'little' brother that he could stand any and everything he could throw at him.

Just when the arrow was about to hit Nightmare, the arrow shattered, blinding him for a few seconds. Nightmare hissing at the brightness of the arrow.

Arms snaked around Nightmares waist from behind and he froze. Dream had planned this almost perfectly and Nightmare was not happy. His tendrils started thrashing, hitting Dream who had a death grip on his brother.

"B-Brother please." Dream pleaded quietly. He endured the pain of Nightmares thrashing tendrils. Using his remaining magic, Dream let his soul sing in positive energy.

Nightmare froze, his tendrils stopped thrashing Dream as Dream's magic enveloped them. The gooey tar substance dropping off his bones little by little. They hit the floor and fizzled away. Eventually after some time a wide eyed, light boned skeleton about the same height as Dream was left in his brothers death grip. Clothes and all.

Dream was sobbing with his eyes shut as tears rain down his cheeks, pleading for his brother to return. He pulled Nightmare impossibly closer into his chest. "I, hic, just want you back, sniff, brother. hic, Please, sniff, don't leave me, hic, alone anymore." Dreams magic fizzled out but he still clutched onto Nightmare not strongly but firmly.

Nightmare blinked a few times trying to register what just happened.

Dream had done it! He had saved Nightmare from his inner demons! Tears built up in Nightmares eyes as he stared at his own boney hands. He peeled himself away from Dreams now weakened grip.

Dream fell to his knees while his hands pressed tightly to his own rib cage, no longer having the energy to stand on his feet. He sobbed uncontrollably, he hadn't looked up once. He thought he hadn't saved Nightmare. Dream thought it was his end until a pair of arms wrapped around his shoulders. He froze and his eyes snapped open only to find another light boned skeleton clutching onto him tightly as they also sobbed into his shoulder.

Nightmare kept muttering 'I'm sorry.' over and over again. As he pulled his brother closer to him, he was back and he wasn't going to stop hugging Dream for a while. His apologies barely reaching Dreams non existent ears as Dream hugged the slightly taller one back.

They both sobbed as they both ended up letting apology after apology rain from their mouths.

Little did they know that a skeleton sitting on blue strings high above them was watching. His once excited expression turned sour when Dream ultimately won the fight. He had popcorn and a soda too! He was so excited to see Dream get punmeled and degraded like the smol, overly positive, skeleton he is.

"ThE tHiNgS i Do To LeT sToRiEs RuN wIlD." Error grumbles out in annoyance.
