SILENCE.
As the day drawled on Roxanne locked herself in her room. Not taking any form of notice with the occasional knocks that graced the door. Her mind was spiralling as her eyes stayed lock with the wooden floors. Thoughts bombarded her head non-stop while she held her knees close to her. The sinking feeling of dread enveloping her.
She thought she could do it. She thought she could be happy. But every time she even looked at him, her mind would flicker to what Dumbledore told her. The inevitable abrupt departure she was to set. It had been a week yet the scene played in her head as clear as day. Her fingers would suddenly shake and her lip would quiver.
Three months.
That's all she had left.
"SHE WOULDN'T LEAVE THE ROOM," a very worried Anne said to Sirius as the Marauders made their way in the Hufflepuff common room.
"What are they doing here?" Juliet sneered as she caught sight of the four.
"They're here to help Rox, Jules," Anne reasoned.
"What's gotten her knickers in a twist?" Sirius whispered to Anne.
"She thinks you guys are the reason why Roxanne locked us out."
"Well I don't remember doing anything to her, Moony?" Sirius asked, making the boy shake his head. "Wormtail? Prongs?" Both boys shook their head as Sirius sighed.
"She hasn't been the same for a week now," James pointed out, "I wonder what made her like this."
"Like you don't know," Juliet grumbled quietly under her breath as she sat down next to Hazel.
"Just go up there," Anne cried desperately, "she needs you guys right now."
The four boys nodded their heads as Anne led them to their room.
"Rox!" Sirius called off, "you need to unlock the door, we need to talk to you!"
"Fuck off!"
"Well someone's on their period," Sirius whispered.
"Not the time, Padfoot," James said through gritted teeth causing Sirius raise his hands in mock surrender.
"Rox, it's Remus," Remus said loudly through the small space between the door and the wall, "please open the door."
In a few seconds the door wedged slowly being followed by, "just Remus please."
The boy turned to the others before nodding his head and going through the door, quickly pushing it shut.
James slumped down the door as he sighed, a defeated look on his face.
"What's wrong, Prongs?" Peter asked, kneeling down beside the boy.
"I'm just concerned, that's all," James sighed, "here I am trying to be there for her but she just push me away."
"Prongs, she does that to all of us," Sirius reasoned.
"Yea but everytime we try to be there she always picks Moony."
"Are you jealous, James?" Anne said from behind Sirius.
"I probably am," he sighed, looking down his hands as if he's just committed a crime.
"Look, James," Anne said, sitting besdie him, "Roxanne is a pretty complicated chick, she just trust Remus at the moment because she's her friend."
"Am I not?"
"She just needs time, James, she'll be okay."
"ROX?"
By the sound of her friend's voice, she didn't hesitate to tackle him in a hug. Tears were streaming down her face as she held him. It didn't take long for Remus to respond.
"What's wrong?" He pulled away from the hug to see her tear stained face. He quickly took out his handkerchief to wipe her face.
"Everything," she croaked.
"You can trust me, Rox," Remus said, looking her in the eyes, "me and the lads are here for you."
Roxanne nodded her head. She looked towards the door, thinking if James could be there, before looking back at Remus again. She sat down her bed as Remus sat across her.
"Last week. . ." She trailed off before she told him everything. Remus nodded his head throughout the story, as if to say he was listening.
"You should tell him, Rox," he said after she finished, "James might be too full of himself but he cares about you."
"I know. . ." She sighed, "I just. . . don't know what to say. You can't just drop a bomb like this to someone."
"I understand, Rox, but James isn't like that. . . When I told them I was a werewolf, they accepted me. They may look like they don't give a shit about things but in reality they care. They may seem very irresponsible but they will do everything for their friends."
"You're a werewolf?"
"Out of all the things I said that's what you got from that?" Remus exclaimed, causing Roxanne to chuckle at him. "And I thought you already knew."
"What made you think that?"
"The fact that you know I will be a professor in the future says a lot."
"Well your secret's safe with me," she assured him.
"Oh thank Merlin, I thought I had to obliviate you after that," he joked, "but in all seriousness--"
"Siriusness"
"--you should tell them. It is inevitable after all, okay?"
"Okay," she breathed out. "Can you call him in?"
"Sure, Rox," he smiled before exiting.
Not long before James began walking in, engulfing her in a bone crushing hug as he did so.
"I need to talk to you," Roxanne said, James nodded before breaking the hug and sitting from a random bed while Roxanne sat next to him before re-telling the story to him.
"Three month?" James said, forlorn at the short amount of time she had with them.
"Yea," Roxanne breathed out, head hanging low.
"Well, let's make it count," he said, turning his body towards her and taking both her hands in his, "it'll be the best three months of your life."
"You sure about that, Jameson?"
"Do you doubt me, Roxy?"
"Should I?"
"No, you shouldn't," he said truthfully.
And she didn't. . .
