Chapter Two
Y/N's POV
September, 2019, New York City, New York
"Alexander."
"I have to leave."
"Alexander!"
"Look around, Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now."
"Helplessss."
I turned at a stoplight and continued to sing at the top of my lungs.
"He will never be satisfied."
"-to be satisfied, satisfied, satisfi- History has its eyes on you!"
I finished the song and gasped for air. When you have to sing over five parts, you can bet on it that you might die from lack of oxygen.
I stopped at another stoplight, waiting for the next song. The light turned green and I went straight.
'Stay alive..........Stay alive.......'
'Where is my son?!?!'
'Mr. Hamilton, come in, they brought him in a half an hour ago. He's lost a lot of blood.'
I breathed out a silent curse. I had a love hate relationship with this song. There were days when I loved listening to the song, because you could feel the emotions swirl around, and then there were other days where you really don't want to deal with History's shit.
"Philip....." I tried to say in a masculine whisper.
"Pa....I did exactly as you said Pa. I held my head up high." I breathed out, trying to make my voice shaky so it matched the situation.
I stopped at another stoplight. How many can I possibly hit today, honestly?
'No!!!' I heard Eliza yell as she entered the scene.
'Eliza!' Hamilton called back.
"Is he breathing?!? Is he going to survive this?!? Who did this, Alexander, did you know!?!?" I yelled with Eliza.
"Mom, I'm so sorry, for forgetting, what you taught me....." I whispered, placing my hand above my heart and started tapping my chest whenever I could hear the heartbeat.
Slowly and steadily, the heartbeat faded out as I pulled into the parking lot of the college.
'Welp, now I'm sad.' I thought with a huff of annoyance. I got out of my car and grabbed my suitcase.
~Timeskip~
I walked through the front doors of the college, my eyes widening. Everything was huge! In awe, I slowly made my way towards the front desk.
"Hello! How can I help you?" Asked the lady at the front desk. She had a Columbia University t-shirt on, and the name tag on her shirt read, 'Jane'.
"Hello!" I greeted, "I am looking for my dorm room and keys? Oh! And my schedule!" I quickly added, giving the lady a small smile.
She returned the smile and began to shuffle through papers, "What is your first and last name?" She asked.
"Y/N L/N." I stated, rocking back and forth on my feet.
"Y/N.....L/N......aha! Here it is!" Jane said, taking out an orange envelope and handing it to me. "Inside you will find a map, your schedule, your room number and your keys. I hope you have a great day! And if you need anything, don't be hesitant to ask!" She called before turning to help another student.
"Thank you!" I called back, moving out of the way. Once I was sure I was out of the way, I opened the envelope and began to exam its' contents.
I grabbed my dorm key and took out my schedule sheet, which held my room number. I scanned through the paper, sometimes looking at the classes that I would have.
"1800......." I mumbled, making my way towards the dorms.
Honestly, it didn't take my long to find it. I was expecting it to be inside of a maze or something, but it was actually right along the main hallway.
However, I did have to make a few lefts and rights, but I soon made it to my dorm. As I walked down the hall to my dorm, I heard something being shoved into a wall.
I made it to my dorm room, but didn't dare open it, at least, not yet. I pressed my ear against the door, trying to figure out if it was coming from my dorm.
And sure enough, it was.
'Okay, do I knock? Or do I just open it?' I thought as I heard something fall.
"Shit...." a feminine voice said on the other side of the door.
I grabbed my key from my pocket and put into the lock. I turned the key and pushed the door open.
I felt my mouth drop open as my eyes scanned her side of the room. There was barely any room on the wall on her side, as there were musical posters covering her wall.
I heard someone clear their throat to my left, and I looked over.
The girl had dirty blonde hair that cascaded around her shoulders. She also had sparkling blue eyes. She wore a a shirt that had three figures on it, and above the figures, in bold letters was the word 'Work'.
"Can I help you?" She asked, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Oh, um, hi. My name is Y/N L/N, and I'm going to guess you will be sharing a dorm with me?" I asked, tripping over my words a little bit.
The girl watched me before smiling, "I was wondering when you would show up! My name is Jenna Peters! Please don't mind all of the posters, I'm just a huge geek when it comes to musicals." Jenna then rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment.
"Are you kidding? Of course I will mind them! You have most of my favorite musicals up there!" I then turned around and placed my suitcase on my bed.
I heard a small shriek before getting attacked from behind. I looked back and saw Jenna smiling broadly at me, giving me a hug, "You have to tell me which musical is your absolute favorite!" She yelled excitedly.
I had to think. There were so many to choose from. But, I decided to go with the one I recently listened to, "Hamilton." Another shriek was heard.
Honestly, I think this was going to be a fun four years.
~Timeskip~ (brought to you by me being super lazy)
"Okay, but honestly, which song really makes you depressed." Jenna asked, standing on my bed and putting up one of my posters.
"Hmmm......I could be cliché and say 'Stay Alive Reprise' but I think I'm going to go with 'Laurens Interlude'" I said, finally deciding.
I heard a small gasp from my bed, as I was placing my stuff in my drawers. I looked up and saw Jenna placing a hand on her heart, "Stupid history, always disappoints me. Why do all the interesting characters have to die?" She whined.
I laughed, "Well, sadly, no one can change it now. It's in the past." I shrugged before returning to unpacking.
"But still!!" Jenna frowned, placing the final tack into the wall before jumping off the bed. I placed my clothes in the dresser and turned around.
"I think that's it! Thank you Jenna!" I said, giving my roommate a smile. She smiled back, "Of course!"
She made her way towards the door, grabbed her keys, and looked back at me. "Hey, my friends and I are going out. Want to come?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
I shook my head, "No, I'm probably going to roam around campus and try to figure out where most of my classes will be."I gave her a small smile.
She shrugged, "Alright. I should be back within an hour or two." And with that, she opened the door and left, closing the door in the process.
I let out a sigh and looked around my side of the room, where I had boxes and suitcases strewn over my bed. "Now I just have to figure out where to put all this stuff." I huffed. There was a closet, but inside was all of my shirts, sweatshirts, dress clothes, and all of Jenna's shirts, sweatshirts, and dress clothes.
I could break the boxes down and stuff them between the wall and my bed, but then I'm going to have to figure out how to put them back together when I needed them (and for the record, I can NOT put boxes back together.I struggle way too much)
"Hmmmmm......." I muttered before glancing over at Jenna's side of the room. She had all of her boxes and suitcases under her bed.
I facepalmed myself, "Why didn't I think of that. I don't know how I managed to get in to college, because I am seriously stupid." I grumbled before grabbing my blue suitcase and sliding it under. I heard a light chink noise as I slid it under.
Curious, I got onto my hands and knees and peered under the bed. At first, it was total darkness, but once my eyes adjusted, I could see something laying right next to my suitcase. I bit my tongue as I reached under to grab the object.
It felt like an hour or so, but in reality, it was only two minutes. I managed to grab onto the object with my pinkie finger. I dragged it out from under the bed. I grabbed it with my left hand so I get a good look at it.
It was a simple wristwatch, with a rose gold exterior. Instead of numbers, it had dashes. The hands of the watch had the same rose gold color as the exterior, but they weren't moving.
As I sat there, I tried to figure out who could've left a perfectly good watch behind. Sure, the hands weren't moving, but I could easily fix that. Either you need new batteries or you just have to rewind it.
I decided to just leave it be for now, as my side of the room was still a mess. I crawled over to my dresser and set it on the top of it. I then went back to shoving all the boxes under my bed.
I sat back on my bed and grabbed the watch. I studied it for a bit, fumbling it around my hands, before decided to fix it. I quickly checked my phone for the time, "11:24." I mumbled to myself, turning the dial on the watch.
I hummed a small tune as I began to reset the watch, not really paying attention to my surroundings.
Once the watch was ticking again, I slipped it onto my right wrist.
And then the strangest thing happened.
I felt a weird tingling sensation happen in my right wrist, and as I glanced over to look at it, I couldn't see my right hand.
And, like any sane person when they loose their right hand, I screamed.
Soon, my whole body started to disappear, and I kept screaming. After my right wrist, my whole right arm followed, then my legs, then my left arm, then the rest of my body.
I stumbled back, accidentally hitting my head on my bed frame.
Then total darkness.
1820 words.
Sorry if the ending of this chapter kind of sucked 😂. But hey! The next few ones should be interesting!!!!
