Elijah's POV
I finally reached Chenshang in no time,  traffic wasn't all that bad today. I'm telling you traffic in London is much worse.

I entered the building after parking my car in the underground lot and saw no receptionist behind the costumer care's desk.

That's really odd the workers here aren't slackers.

I pressed the elevator button for the upper-level floors and waited for 30 seconds and the double metal door split apart opening.

I saw a black-haired woman adding more lipstick in her already bloodied colored lips in the elevator wall mirror.

I entered the elevator her gaze fell on me, she immediately stopped putting on the lipstick "Which floor?" I asked her and she gave a flirty smirk.

"Hi handsome, my name is Peggy Taylor" She shot out her hand for me to shake I looked at the hand then her face.

"That's not what I asked. I asked which floor you're going to" I say in a clearly uninterested tone.

"I was actually gonna get off but here's my card so call me" She reached into her purse taking out a card she put it inside the little patch pocket on the chest area.

She tried to leave but I immediately grabbed her arm.

"Changed your mind, heh," The strange lady said cockily making me shake my head at her.

"I definitely won't be calling so here's your card" I remove her tacky looking card from the patch pocket, handing it back to her.

She stared at me in with widening eyes obviously embarrassed.

Then got off the elevator looking at me once more before the elevator doors closed.

The metal box dinged when it reached the destined floor, I got off the lift making my way down the hall to the last office on the floor.

I didn't even bother knocking because I knew when Lia is really focused on something she gives her undivided attention to the task.

Just her in her own little bubble of concentration.

I opened the door quietly trying hard not to make any sound.

The first thing I saw was my best friend with one knee bent holding up a ring-shaped candy.

"What flavor is that?" Lia pointed at the candy licking those luscious lips of hers that I can't seem to get enough pleasure kissing her.

"Watermelon, wait you're dating Elijah!?" Logan replied calmly before raising her voice slightly clearly stunned by what Lia had said previously that I, unfortunately, didn't hear.

Lia nodded adorably smiling sheepishly. I'm still going to imagine I saw her blushing.

'What's wrong with dating me?' I asked myself.

"You're so cute, Nalia" Logan squeezed my girlfriend's cheek making Lia whine irritatedly.

I decided to make my presence known because I've seen enough.

"What going on here?" I asked shocking them.

I'm sure my tone sounded angry and infuriated.

They both turn their heads immediately, Logan's hand instinctively dropped from Lia's cheek before getting up from the bent position.

"Logan, are you trying to make a move on my girl?" I asked playfully walking closer to Lia's desk and giving my best friend a hug.

"I missed you bruv," Logan says punching my shoulder playfully.

"I wasn't making a pass at your girl, I was just acting silly besides I can't steal her when she's already nuts about you" Logan chuckled deeply before groaning in pain due to Lia elbowing her in the rib.

"Did you finish your errand?" Lia pushed her chair back hugging me before giving me a kiss.

I groan into the kiss and copped a feel of her enticing backside.

Lia moaned sensually I can tell she's really getting into it.

I heard Logan cough awkwardly, I opened my eyes and glared at her.

She just walked to the other side of the office.

Then I heard an excited bark that made me pull back from the kiss.

I scrunch my face clearly confused because that was clearly a dog barking.

Logan came back holding a dog leash and I was astonished by what I was looking at.

So this is the surprise Logan was talking about, she brought Baxter with her.

I push Lia lightly to the side running towards Baxter hugging him with all my might.

"Wow, he picked the little bitch over me even though that's a male dog but I don't care" She whispered to Logan and I heard it.

Throwing my head back in laughter I said "Don't be jealous, Lia" She just rolled her eyes.

"Forget you, Eli," Lia tells me before going back to her desk chair pretending to work.

Logan stood there laughing wholeheartedly

"Adorable isn't she?" I raised a brow towards Logan with an annoyed expression.

She saw the look on my face "Ok, I'll back off" She says holding her hand up I surrender.

"You better stop and thanks for bringing Baxter with you" I told her smiling sincerely.

Logan shook her head "No problem mate" I nod my head going back to petting a whimpering Baxter.

Moments later Diamond burst into the office breathing heavily.

"Diamond, what's the meaning of this!?" Lia asked angrily shooting up from her chair.

"Nali- I mean Ms.Chen, I'm really sorry for coming into your office like this but our parents are inside the company making a scene in the lobby" Diamond slows down catching her breath.

"No, rephrase that 'our parents' part and continue" It might seem like Lia is being petty but it's true.

Those people aren't her parents anymore since they took her out the family which I'm very thankful for.

"Sorry, my parents are here to drag me back home. Please, you have to do something" Diamond practically got on her knees begging.

"Gurl, get you ass up. I want you to tell Ms. Martin to bring them in" She instantly got up on her feet and ran out of the office.

"They really don't even know what it means to be discreet at all" Lia threw up her hands in frustration.

"Do you know, that all throughout my 18 years of living in the same house those hypocrites mostly talked about discretion. But here they are making a racket in a business place." Lia sat back down on the chair rubbing her head.

Baxter strayed away from me going to Lia side and laid his head next to her leg rubbing his fur on her exposed skin somewhat in a comforting way.

Lia rubbed Baxter's stomach making him purr contentedly.

I walked around the desk placing my hands on her shoulders massaging the tensed muscles.

"I'm guessing they never took their own advice" Logan added while Lia nods sighing tiredly.

We swiftly turned to the Burgandy painted door when a soft knock was heard from behind the double doors.

"Ms. Chen, your guests have arrived" Ms. Martin's announced timidly.

"Guests my arse," Logan says under her breath but we caught on to it.

"Bring them in," Lia says not looking at the door still petting Baxter.

"Oh, get out of my way woman!" Lia shook her head when Ernesto barged into her office shoving Ms. Martin to the side almost making her hit the vase on the side of the door.

"Welcome Ernesto and Talia, it's awful having you back," Lia says sarcastically sending along with a fake smile.

I signaled my head to the refreshment minibar to Logan and she got the hint.

This isn't my battle to fight so I'm going to stay out of it.

"I see you still have the same rude attitude you had last time," Talia says with a snappy tone rolling her eyes.

"Ok, so what pleasure do I owe this dreadful visit to?" Lia pointed her fingers to the two chairs in front of her desk.

They sat down and Diamond stood far away from the table.

"Well, your Father and I are here to take your sister home because we have a wedding to plan for soon" Talia replied smiling viciously at the end of her sentence.

I gazed at Lia confusion marred on my face, then she mouthed 'later' to me.

I saw Diamond staring at her sister with pleading eyes and her hands clasped together.

Lia chuckled before speaking "I don't think so Talia" she says shocking the two including Diamond.

"What do you mean by that?" Ernesto roared angrily slamming his hand on the desk.

"I know that must have hurt" I whispered to Logan snickering at his foolishness.

Lia got up from her seat their eyes following her movement as she sat at the edge of the desk table.

"You see, Diamond is an adult and can make her own decisions without you two governing over her." She started relaxing her back into the leather chair.

"Last night she came to my home crying her eyes out to me, I strongly fought back the urge to send her away but I didn't. Do you want to know why?" Lia asked them smugly.

"I took her in because Diamond is still my sister regardless of how she treated me and I'm not a bad person to send her away in this city during night time in such a vulnerable state.

"She stayed the night at my place and this morning I demanded the reason why she left her home to come running to mine. Diamond told me about you two arranging a marriage with a man double her age. Now it's time for me to ask you guys a question, don't you think?" Lia wagged her finger at Diamond telling her to come closer.

"Diamond is our daughter so are you and we did everything in our power to make you girls live comfortably and we always provided for anything you asked for and it's only right for us to enjoy the fruits of children's labor like they once did with us." Ernesto says with a shoulder shrug I saw Lia shaking her head with a terrifying grin on her face.

"Let me reword that whole sentence for you, first of all, you never did shit for me ever since I turned eight years old, you know the next-door neighbors that you always had something to say about were the kind individuals that raised your own child for you. Diamond is the one those words should be directed to not me." She stopped before continuing.

"You two were already deadbeats that actually watched me grow up gracefully without any of your assistance" She shrugged her shoulders replying sassily.

"How dare you say that to us the people who brought you to this world giving you life and raising you in a good Christian household!" Here comes Ernesto with his stupid yelling.

It's really starting to piss me off now. Lia walked up to them staring at them with hate-filled eyes.

"If I wouldn't say what I say to your face, then I promise you I wouldn't say it in private" She spat in a venomous laced tone.

Talia placed her hand on her chest gasping in astonishment.

"Nalia! that's no way for a good Christian girl to act towards her parents!" Lia tried to act stoic but the laugh was fighting off burst out.

Lia shrugged her shoulders, disregarding what her Mother said to her.

"What's your point? May I remind you Taila, you and Ernesto didn't exactly act godly towards your children especially the one you neglected her whole life" She replies in nonchalantly.

"You think you can judge me and or you think you can come up with a judgment of who I am, that doesn't bother me because I know only God can make that judgment when the time comes. So spare me, your bigoted beliefs and go preach it to someone who has the time and day to feed on it." Talia raised her hand ready to slap Lia, only for her hand to connect with Diamond's cheek, because she had blocked the incoming hit for her sister.

'One brownie point goes to Diamond. It's only right for the egotistical sister to get approval from the boyfriend' I nod my head at the thought.

Once Talia noticed who she had hit, she stared at her palm, then at her other daughter apologetically.

"Diamond baby, Mommy's so sorry it was meant for that brazen sister of yours" Talia tried touching Diamond face but she just backed away from her Mother with disappointment marred on her face.

"Mom and Dad, I think you guys should leave you've done enough damage already" Diamond says avoiding her parents eyes.

"I don't care if you guys are ready to disown me but remember that you already lost Nalia as your daughter and you're about to lose the only one you got left" Diamond voiced sounded croaky like she is about to cry at any given moment.

"Sweetheart, don't do this just come back home and get married to Gregory and your father's company would be back on the map" Talia said in a pleading tone shaking her daughter's arm.

Diamond yanked her arm away from the woman glaring at her loathe in the depths of her eyes.

"Please just go already" She walked over to the door holding the door waiting for them to get out.

Nalia voice stopped them before they could take their leave.

"I'm living the good life that everyone else wants, I'm capable of giving you two that life but I won't because you and I know that either of you don't deserve it" The mirrored expression on Talia and Ernesto was pure gold.

The two looked completely defeated they left with no more words exchanged.
But, not before taking a good look at both their children they might have just lost forever.

"Well, now that they are gone everyone get back to work!" Lia said clearly unaffected by what had just transpired.
Diamond nods her head leaving but I waited until I saw the look in Lia's eyes.

"I guess that's my cue to take my leave," I said with a nervous chuckle.

"You think?" Logan said sarcastically before laughing and settling down on the leather couch with Baxter already sleeping soundly.

"See you during lunch?" I asked Lia and she shot up the peace sign without looking up.
