Chapter 2

Nalia's POV
I felt a rough hand grab my upper arm pulling me back "Nalia didn't you hear me calling your name!?" Father whispered yelled while I just stared blankly at him.

"Speak Nalia! I'm getting real tired of this 'mute' thing you got going on" I rolled my eyes walking away from him until the nosiest person in the church came and approached us.

"Good morning the Andrews family, it's great to have you in church on this wonderful Sunday," Mrs. Payne said with her usual ass-kissing tone.

"Oh, look at you Diamond you're so pretty and your hair is so nice and full. She reached out touching Diamond's hair.

Out of nowhere, she gasped dramatically "that dress! It's gorgeous where did you get it?" Mrs.Payne starts buttering up Diamond with her comments, 'ass kisser' I thought to myself shaking my head at the pitiful woman.

Diamond looked at me and stuck out her tongue 'what is she, five?'

"Hello Nalia, what did I tell you? You need to start dressing a bit more like your sister maybe then you'll find a good christian boy in this church" I had on my famous resting bitch face as I tried my hardest not to laugh in her face.

Instead of telling her to mind the business that pays her, I walked away not wanting to hear the rest of her nonsensical ranting about my appearance and attitude.

I swear I lost all respect for that woman because she's fake and the lies she tells are enough for someone to want to cut off her tongue.

During the service, the Choir was singing and honestly were not on their A-game, I usually enjoy the Choir's ministrations but I'm not feeling the song and their delivery today.

So, I began answering to emails from the company that Granny had forwarded to me last night.

Mr. Payne, another nosy dunce, stood towering over my seated form.

"Give me the phone, you're not allowed to use it during service" He outstretched his right hand.

I stared at his awaiting hand then around me to see other adults and even younger kids using their phone or iPads but no one was taking it from them.

I looked at him and pretended to hand my phone to him only for me to put it in my Jean Jacket. 'He must be stupid if he thought I was about give him my phone'

Mr. Payne looked beyond angry, then he went over to where Mother sat, then both of them approached me.

I crossed my legs and clasped my hands together waiting for the rubbish they had to say.

"Nalia, give him the phone and you'll get it back at the end of the service" I lifted one of my perfectly arched brows at her because she knows I'm not giving him anything.

"I'm sorry Mr. Payne, I'll deal with her later" Mother apologized and he threw me a smug smile and I rolled my eyes in response.

She and I know that nothing is gonna happen and nobody is getting dealt with. 'I swear everyone in this church are little kids in grown people 'bodies'.

Mother glared at me walking back to sit with her perfect little family. I'm the outcast always has been and always will be and I quite like it.

After the service and many backhand comments towards me, they just love ass kissing my family members 'pathetic bootlickers.'

I drove home, changed my clothes and put my workout clothes in my duffel bag and went next door to Granny's because after we visit Grandpa we are going to the boxing ring. My granny used to wrestle during her youth and she's very knowledgeable in the art called Kung-Fu.

"Come on Granny it's time to go before they close the cemetery" I whined like a child having a tantrum.

The cemetery that Grandpa was buried at is 2 hours far from here and it's 4:00 right now

"I'll be right there child, wait and don't rush me," Granny yelled from the kitchen, probably fixing us something to eat.

She came out of the kitchen 20 mins later "FinalFuckingLy" after I grabbed the picnic basket from her Granny hit the back of my head "Ouch, that hurts" I rubbed the spot she had hit me.

"Child, stop cussing, it's not good for a young lady" I just nodded my head in fake understanding.

"Yeah yeah, I heard you for the thousandth time" I whispered the last part to myself.

She just shakes her head side to side

"There's no hope for you anymore child," She said and I just winked at her walking outside to the car and opening the passenger seat door for Granny and started on our journey jamming to my oldies but goodies Spotify playlist.
