➵ Five Feet

Between Confluent and Impermeable
I bit back a grin as I fished my apartment key out of my pocket. It was a good day spent with Stiles after showing him Manhattan. It was his first time here in New York and I wanted to show him around. We were able to spend the entire morning hitting my favorite spots, especially the skate park where Percy and I usually go to ride.
"So, you're promising me, that we're going to the skate park tomorrow and actually ride this time right?" Stiles asked.
"Yeah, for sure. I didn't know you used to skateboard." I said, entering the key into the lock.
"By the way, when do I get a key?" Stiles raised a brow.
"Never." I chuckled. Turning it and hearing the satisfy click, I opened the door.
"I used to when I was younger before Scott and I fell in love with lacrosse." Stiles informed me.
"Really? Did Scott skate too?" I took out the key and placed it in my front pocket. The both of us entered the apartment to see Percy laying on the couch watching a movie. My brother lazily turned his head towards us with a smile growing on his lips. "Oh boy."
"How'd you like Manhattan?" Percy asked. He sat up, laying an arm on the top of the couch. "It's a lot better than Beacon Hills, right?"
"Eh." Stiles shrugged. I rolled my eyes and closed the door behind us. "I guess I'm just used to the smaller city, but Manhattan is pretty nice."
"Did you show him the Empire State Building?" Percy turned his attention towards me.
"No she didn't." Stiles narrowed his eyes at me.
"What? Really why?"
"And let him know how important that place is to the Greeks?" I scoffed. "Knowing Stiles, he'll try and meet the gods or something. Or better yet, meet Dad. Yeah... I think not."
"You make it sound like I would do something to embarrass you." Stiles smirked.
"Oh no, I'm more scared for you. The gods don't know the words patience and sarcasm. Ask Percy." I jabbed a thumb towards my brother.
"True. Only a handful can deal with me." Percy stated. He glanced at the clock on the wall and a grinned. "Annabeth should be here in a few seconds."
"Where are you going?" I started to make my way towards the couch. I heard the door unlock.
"Percy owes me a date to look at the architecture around Manhattan." Annabeth entered the apartment.
"She has a key? And I don't, why?" Stiles whined.
"Because I'm not allowing it." Percy stood up from the couch. "Anyways, we're heading to The Cloister first."
"Oh, you're gonna love that place Annabeth." I stated.
"I've been wanting to go there since forever." Annabeth beamed.
"I can believe that." Percy chuckled out. "Alright, Mom and Paul should be here later tonight. Paul has this banquet for Goode or something. They said you guys can order pizza or take out."
"Got it. Have fun you two." I started to push Percy out of the apartment wanting to spend some alone time with my boyfriend.
"Don't rush me, I want a good five feet distance between you two. No touching and no kissing." Percy wagged a finger at Stiles and I.
"Percy, let them have some time together." Annabeth rolled her eyes and grabbed a hold of his hand. She started to tug him out the door. Percy started to drag his feet and looked over his shoulder.
"I am! Just telling them no touching and kissing. And definitely nothing sexual." Percy narrowed his eyes at Stiles. "Do anything sexual and I'll make Ares seem like a saint. Got it?"
"Got it." Stiles nervously swallowed with his hands held up in the air.
"Good." Percy turned towards me and gave me a smile before pecking my forehead. "Behave and have fun."
"Yeah, yeah. Go." I gave a desperate look towards Annabeth. Biting back a smile, Annabeth yanked Percy out of the apartment as he continued to throw threats to Stiles. I quickly slammed the door shut and locking the door. "Finally."
"So....to answer your question before, yeah Scott used to skateboard." Stiles nervously rubbed the back of his neck.
"Really?"
"Yeah, it was easier for his asthma and stuff." Stiles sat down on the couch.
"Well, Percy has a skateboard somewhere in his room. You can ask to borrow it for tomorrow." I plopped down next to him. "To be honest, I have always loved long boarding more than skateboarding. So my ride is a longboard. It's a really cool one too. Has a tidal wave on it and everything."
"Can you do any tricks with it?" Stiles asked. He licked his lips and eyed the small distance between us.
"You don't need to worry about Percy," I flicked my wrist with a chuckle. "He's just giving you a hard time. You're my first boyfriend and stuff. He's just being a big brother."
"Yeah a brother who fights and kills monsters." Stiles scoffed. "He could make my death look like an accident."
"That's very true." I slowly nodded. "But then again, so can I. There's many ways Percy and I could-"
"O-Kay! Let's change the subject and not talk about my death?" Stiles looked at me with wide eyes.
"Right, sorry." I sheepishly smiled at him. I grabbed the remote and changed the channel. The Disney movie Hercules was on. "Ugh, he is just a bitter mess now."
"Who? Hercules?" Stiles asked. I nodded and changed the channel again. Heathers was on and I looked at Stiles.
"This movie okay?"
"What is it?" Stiles questioned. It was at the scene when JD and Veronica just killed Heather Chandler.
"Heathers. Great movie concerning peer pressure and stuff. JD is crazy and Veronica likes him. This is their first kill, of course JD actually killed Heather Chandler but Veronica feels guilty for it too." I explained.
"Yeah, let's watch it." Stiles nodded. "Sounds good."
A few minutes later, Stiles was asleep. He had his head on my lap with one of his hands holding mine. His eyebrows were pinched together. Stiles lips were pursed and he would mumble incoherently.
I ran my fingers through his hair, playing with the tips as I watched Veronica forge a suicide note. A yawn escaped from me. Blinking my eyes to keep myself awake, I peered down at Stiles. A small smile spread across my lips.
Yawning again, I laid my head against the arm of the couch. My eyes were starting to droop when I felt Stiles tighten his hold on my hand. Thinking it was nothing, I adjusted my head and closed my eyes.
"I'm sorry." Stiles muttered, turning in his sleep.
"Hmm?" I tried to open my eyes and look at my boyfriend.
More mumbling escaped from Stiles' lips. He started to move some more, his head moving side to side. I felt his hand starting to get clammy. Worried, I sat up. Fear and guilt was written across his face as he continued to mumble.
"Stiles?" I asked. With a gasp, Stiles sat up. He quickly looked around the room trying to take in his surroundings. Stiles breathed heavily, his chest rising and falling in panic. I immediately placed my hands on his shoulders. "Hey, hey. It's okay. You're okay."
"Sorry." Stiles avoided my eyes, resting his back against the couch. He pinched his nose and closed his eyes before he threw his head back. Licking my lips, I held his hand and gave it a squeeze.
"It's okay. What was the nightmare?" With my other free hand, I rubbed his shoulder. He hesitantly looked at me. "You know I won't judge you."
"I was possessed by this evil spirit kitsune thing called the the Nogistune a few months, maybe a year, before you arrived. He fed off is strife and stuff and he killed a lot of people. Most of them in control of my body." Stiles took a shaky breath in. "He managed to create his own physical vessel that looked like a sicker version of me...Void Stiles. He-he was responsible for ordering the Oni to kill Allison and Aiden."
"Wasn't that Scott's ex and one of those twins?" I softly questioned. Stiles nodded grimly. "Stiles, that was Void Stiles, not you. It's like you said. He ordered them, not you."
"I know...but I feel like it's still my fault. All of those deaths, getting Isaac in the hospital, almost killing Coach Finstock..." Stiles sighed and placed his head on my shoulder.
"You weren't in control and that's okay." I started to run my fingers through his hair again. "There are times throughout our lives that we have no control over what happens. Just like how my Mom died for me and I killed my first monster that day."
"You never really talk about your mom." Stiles looked up at me. I already knew Stiles was trying to change the subject, but I went along with it. It would help him. "What was her name?"
"Amira." I smiled. My eyes started to water at the thought of her. "Her parents moved to the United States from Netherlands when they got married to start a new life. My mom always told me that my grandparents had trouble conceiving until they were blessed with a child in their late forties. By the time my mom was in middle school, my grandma, Marit, had breast cancer. They discovered it too late and the chemo wouldn't have worked. I was able to meet my grandpa, Joost, but he died two years before my mom did from heart issues."
"What was she like?"
"Smart. She was so smart. She was fluently bilingual in Dutch and English. She picked up a few Spanish words back in Texas but not enough to be fluent in it. She used to work as a secretary at a realtor place and was going to school to become a counselor. She loved helping people out." I leaned my head against Stiles'. A tear slid down my cheek. "She would have loved you. She always wanted me to have a good boyfriend."
"I would have loved to meet her." Stiles have my hand a squeeze.
"How about your mom?" I asked.
"She was amazing. Even though her dementia changed her in her last few months." Stiles swallowed. "She didn't work, wanting to stay home with me and watch me grow up. Apparently, I was a momma's boy. Dad always said she had planned to go back to working as a vet tech once I hit middle school. You know, she actually got me a boa when I was younger. My dad hated it though."
"Really?" I chuckled out.
"Yeah, named him Severus. I was going through a big Harry Potter phase." Stiles sheepishly smiled.
"One doesn't know leave the Harry Potter phase." I nudged him with a giggle.
"Okay, true, but I'm more known for my Star Wars stuff now."
"True. You know, my mom and I always watched Stars Wars when I was growing up. Mostly because she loved Harrison Ford, but the movies were great." Stiles snorted at my comment.
"Do you know how your parents met?" Stiles asked. "Since, you know, your dad is a freaking Greek god."
"All my mom said was that they met at a graduation party on a beach. I never wanted to look into it too much. I'm afraid I will get the whole story wrong." I said. "I'm also too scared to ask my dad."
"I'm sure your dad would love to explain it." Stiles started to rub his thumb on my hand. "Now...since we already watched a movie-"
"You fell asleep."
"And did a heart to heart talk..." Stiles smirked. My stomach exploded with butterflies when he started to lean in. Smiling, I molded my lips with Stiles'. I snaked arms around his neck to pull myself closer to him. Stiles grabbed my hips and pulled me into his lap. "You're brother is so going to kill me."
"I would never let him." I breathed out, my nose brushing against his. Stiles grinned before he pressed his lips to mine. With a sigh, I drew back. My boyfriend frowned at the action. "But, I do want the two of you to get along and that means we can't be kissing in front of him."
"But he's not even home yet!" Stiles whined.
"Knowing Percy, he rushed the date to make sure we didn't do anything. They're probably already on their way here." I sadly informed. Stiles groaned and dramatically fell back against the couch. I giggled and kissed his cheek before getting off of his lap.
"Uh," Stiles sat up again, "what are you doing?"
"Five feet, Stiles." I teased, sitting at the other end of the couch. Stiles narrowed his eyes at me and grumbled curses under his breath.
"You better be ten feet apart and no touching!" Percy's loud voice came from outside the front door. I gave Stiles a knowing look to which he huffed at. The door swung open with Percy stomping his way over to us. He froze when he noticed the space in between us. He smiled. "Oh, good. You two actually listened. What movie are we watching?"
Percy jumped over the couch and sat in between us. He placed his arms on top of the couch and gave me a cheeky grin. I heard Annabeth sigh and close the door. Looking over my shoulder, I gave her an apologetic look.
"Percy, let them have their space." Annabeth walked over and sat on the arm of the couch. She gave me a wink and grabbed the remote control.
"Nah, we're doing that double dating thing right now." Percy flicked his wrist at his girlfriend and had his attention on the screen. Annabeth switched the channel. "Hey! Heathers was on!"
"Ooh! That one looks good!" Annabeth ignored Percy. The channel was playing Fight Club.
"Now that one I have seen." Stiles leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees. "Great movie."
"Heathers is better." Percy grumbled, leaning back with his arms crossed.
"It put me to sleep." Stiles scoffed. "This one has actual action and fighting."
"Heathers has Winona Ryder in it." Percy fought back.
"Wait, Winona Ryder was in it?" Stiles looked at Percy in shock.
"Should we give them space?" I jokingly stated and turned to look at Annabeth.
"Duh." Percy replied back. "She was Veronica Sawyer."
"I think we should. I feel some bromance stuff going on in here." Annabeth chuckled out. "Want to go get some ice cream?"
"Sure." I nodded, getting up from my seat. Stiles and Percy were going back and forth on which movie was better. Annabeth shook her head at the two and followed after me. "Should we bring them something?"
We both looked at the boys when I opened the door. They hadn't even noticed that we were leaving. Annabeth and I looked at each other before we agreed.
"Nah."
