Chapter One
I wake up with a tingling sensation between my thighs. I dreamt about Nolan again last night. This time, we were in the shower. I can still feel the cold tiles pressed against my back, feel his hot breath as he pants into my ear, his teeth as he bites into my neck and shoulder, my soft skin muffling his grunts.
I turn over in bed and work my hand below the covers, trying to recall more of the dream. I woke up too soon. We never got to finish. I was so close. I am so close, and I haven't even started yet.
My fingers slip into my panties and I squirm as they connect with the right spot. I barely have to move them. My back arches at the same moment my bedroom door flings open. I gasp, shooting up in bed and yanking the covers up to my chin. "Mom, I thought I told you to knock," I mutter, the embarrassing situation making me blush. It's my own fault. When you're twenty-two years old and still living at home, it comes with the territory. I guess it's time to invest in a lock. "What are you doing in here?"
Mom stands at the foot of my bed in her Lululemon workout clothes. She holds up her wrist and taps on her Apple Watch. "It's 8am, Violet."
I scrub my eyes and double check the clock on my nightstand. "So?"
Mom crosses her arms. "So...You promised if you weren't going to accept the job at your father's company, you'd start getting up earlier."
I press the heels of my hands into my eyes. I did say that, didn't I?
Mom starts jogging in place, her freshly bleached hair bouncing over her shoulders. "It's time to get up! I made us smoothies with collagen and biotin. I thought afterwards we could go for a run by the water. I've been listening to this new podcast. It's all about productivity. We've got to seize the day!"
I can't help smiling. "Okay, okay. I'll meet you downstairs."
"You better!" Mom jogs out the door, pumping her fists into the air, still shouting about productivity. I need whatever she's having. Did she put caffeine in those smoothies? Methamphetamine? Adderall? Whatever it is, if it puts me in as good a mood as her, I'll take it.
I kick off my covers and roll out of bed. I'm tugging on fresh panties and a pair of leggings when I notice Nolan. I can see him from my bedroom window. In fact, I can see inside his bedroom. A perk of being next door neighbors. He's on his Peloton. Shirtless. Sweat pouring off him. I bite my bottom lip as I squeeze into a sports bra. His dark hair sticks to his face. His lips part in exertion. What I'd give to be that bike...
I wonder what music he's listening to. Or if he's listening to music at all. Maybe he's following along to a video. Or reading. Does he like to read? A new question pops into my head. Can you love someone you know nothing about?
Yes. I'm sure you can. Because I, Violet Foster, am, without a doubt, head over heels in love with Nolan Adler. I'm certain we'll be married someday. We'll have five kids, three dogs, an outdoor cat (outdoor only because I'm allergic). Maybe we'll move away from Savannah. Georgia's great and all, but what about Upstate New York? California? I hear Boston's nice. We could live in one of those adorable, little brownstones. Eat baked beans. Go to Fenway Park.
I'm so caught up in the fantasy that I almost have a heart attack when Nolan's eyes meet mine. I cry out, dropping to the ground, toppling over my laptop and a stack of library books. Shit. Did he see me? Did he see me staring at him? I swallow, feeling embarrassed all over again. I push my things aside and crawl to the door, making sure to stay clear of the window. Halfway there, my elbow gives out and I headbutt the doorframe. Ow. I sit up, rubbing the spot until the soreness goes away.
This is exactly why Nolan will never feel the same way about me. I'm nothing but the spastic girl next door. The friendly and shy neighbor. The freak who occasionally spies on him from her bedroom window. I sigh and head downstairs, the wet dream I'd had earlier quickly evaporating.

A/N
Okay, so this was pretty short, but it's basically the introduction into the story. I hope you guys like it so far! What do you think of Violet? Do you think she really loves Nolan? Do you think she's going to try and make her move or just keep secretly crushing on him?
Any theories on where the story is going?
Don't forget to comment and vote! I'm going to try and add banners on this story soon! If you know anyone who can make banners, please let me know. I'm still working on the blurb and that will be added later on. But just know, this is not just a romance, it's also a mystery/thriller. So, there are going to be some scarier scenes later on. I'll make sure to write trigger warnings before the blurb!!
Thanks for reading!! Sending everyone hugs!! xo
