Both boys stare at each other in shock, not knowing what to say. Mrs. Jeon notices the stares and was the one to break the silence between both boys. "Have you two met before?" Taehyung looks at Mrs. Jeon and back at Jungkook, unsure of what to say.
"Y-yes. We happened to bump into each other the other day but didn't talk." Jungkook responds as he begins walking to his seat. Jungkook takes the empty seat in front of Taehyung and tries his best to avoid eye contact with the boy who was looking right at him without care.
"Ah, good to meet you Jungkook! We were just talking about you. Your parents seem to be really proud of you, young man." Mr. Kim says, the other two adults nodding in agreement. Jungkook smiles in acceptance of the compliment and looks back at his plate which was now full of food.
"Everything okay now sweetheart?" Mrs.Jeon asks her son, rubbing his back in comfort. Jungkook nods yes with a smile.
"Ah, Jungkook! I know you said you both saw each other last time but this is my son, Kim Taehyung." Mr. Kim looks over at his son, who was still coldly staring at Jungkook. "Son? You alright?" Mr. Kim questions, lightly shaking his son's shoulder to gain his attention. Taehyung looks at his father, realizing he was awaiting his response.
"Yes, I'm fine. Hello, I'm Kim Taehyung, the apparent successor to the Kim business." Jungkook looks at the boy in front of him, unsure of what to say.
This is who he would be marrying?
This ducking douche bag who acted like a napkin the other day?
THIS IS HIM??
Jungkook clears his throat and begins to take bites of his food while the adults continued conversing. Every once in a while, Jungkook would look at the boy in front of him who would either be eating, joining the conversation, or simply staring at him with his cold expression.
"So, why don't we go to another room to discuss the details of this arrangement?" Mr. Jeon suggests. "Plus, it would be great to leave our boys here to get to know each other in the meantime." Jungkook freezes at the sentence.
He didn't want to be alone with Taehyung.
"Hey, dad-" "I think that would be a great idea," Taehyung says, interrupting Jungkook's sentence. He looks over at Jungkook and smiles, which only freaked out the boy more.
"Well, we will be in the other room. You boys know where to find us if there is anything you need." Mr. Kim replies, being delighted with the way his son was acting. Mr. Jeon and his wife lead the way, with Taehyung's father following behind. As soon as the door closes, Taehyung is the first to say something.
"So you're Jeon Jungkook Huh?" Jungkook stays mute, rolling his eyes at the tone coming from the boy.
"And you're the arrogant Kim Taehyung hm?" Jungkook finally says, causing a chuckle to come from Taehyung. Taehyung stands and walks to the big windows to look at the people walking below him going about their day.
"I believe so, everyone seems to call me that apparently," Taehyung says from his position, Jungkook still being in his chair.
"Apparently? Just like you're the apparent successor to your father's business?" Taehyung turns around and walks up behind Jungkook.
"I mean, I don't want to be the successor but what choice do I have?" Taehyung replies, noticing the boy's stiff posture. "You scared of me?"
"There's always a choice," Jungkook coldly says, ignoring the previous question. Taehyung let's out a sigh and laughs at the boy's ignorance.
"Incorrect Jungkook. Right now, I don't have a choice. There are always circumstances to consider when making a choice." Taehyung leans down until his mouth is next to Jungkook's ear. "But wouldn't you know about that?"
Jungkook squirms, an immediate discomfort taking over his body at the sound of the older boy's voice. He stands up and walks to the other seat across from him.
"Awe, why are you like this? I won't bite," Taehyung teases, laughing as he walks back to the windows. "I hear you go to Yonsei?"
"Yes. And you?" Jungkook asks back, expecting a not so great school.
"SNU. You know it?" Taehyung mutters, observing the flowers in the garden across the block. Jungkook is taken aback, not believing that the boy goes to one of the best schools in Korea.
"Yes, I do. You study business I'm assuming?" Taehyung turns back around and ignores the question.
"What's your major? Do they even have a selection at Yonsei?" Taehyung asks, trying to find out the boy's interests.
"Music." Taehyung's brow raises, his interests clearly peaked.
"I see...and how do you plan on taking over the business when you don't even know shit about business management?" Taehyung continues badgering, trying his best to figure out the plans this boy had for his future.
"Why do you think we are here Mr. Kim?" Jungkook annoyingly says, Taehyung's attitude starting to show up.
"Tsk tsk, show respect. I'm older than you. Are you this disobedient all the time? This is not good." Taehyung teases, trying to see more of the attitude that the boy possessed.
"Well, maybe I'd show more respect if you weren't such a douchebag." Jungkook bluntly states, looking to his side in irritation. Taehyung walks up to him and brings his face to Jungkook's. Taehyung places his hand on Jungkook's jaw and redirects his face toward him, leaving Jungkook in a nervous state.
"No...I'm not a douchebag. I'm just...short tempered. But who are you to speak when all you do is live in a bubble where everything is perfect with rainbows and unicorns?" Taehyung snaps, reaching his peak in patience with Jungkook. Taehyung stands straight and walks back to his prior place, trying his best not to be the douchebag he was accused of being.
"I-I don't live in a b-bubble." Jungkook stutters, not wanting to admit to himself that part of it was true. Taehyung chuckles, knowing he had just said something true.
"Yeah okay, sure baby boy." Jungkook's eyes widen, almost beginning to choke on his own saliva.
"Don't call me that."
"Why? Does it make you feel a certain way?" Taehyung replies, smirking at the reaction from the boy.
"N-No, it's just weird." Jungkook defends, knowing damn well he was called that once from his previous relationship. "And why are you so...short tempered?"
"I have my reasons."
"You're such an Enigma Mr. Kim," Jungkook softly states as he gets up from his seat and walks up to the older.
"Enigma? What's that?" Taehyung coldly asks as he walks toward the approaching younger.
"Yeah, you really are. Mr. Kim, can you even spell it?" Jungkook whispers as he starts to walk away but is pulled back by the other boy.
"Don't start testing me before we even get married Jeon Jungkook." Taehyung sternly says, his hands tightly holding the boy's waist who just glares. Taehyung tightens his grip more, causing Jungkook to let out a whimper from the pain.
"Boys?" Mr. Jeon says as he enters the room, the other two adults following behind him. Both boys immediately separate, fixing their appearances as well. Mr. Jeon stands there with a smile. "I see you both have gotten quite comfortable with each other now. Anyway, thank you Mr. Kim for coming today and for this grand opportunity that will benefit both of us in the long run." Mr. Jeon holds his hand out for a shake, which Mr. Kim meets with his own.
"Of course, but I should be thanking you for setting this up and agreeing. Taehyung, ready? We must leave as there are still things to do at home." Taehyung clears his throat and turns his head to look at the boy whose cheeks were a bright red.
"Until then baby boy," Taehyung whispers, before heading over to the Jeon's to say his farewells. Jungkook says his goodbyes as well, not being able to fully process what had just happened.
"Not terrible." Mr. Kim says as Taehyung enters the car, sitting down next to the window. Taehyung nods, knowing that what his father had just said was a compliment.
"You like him?" Mr. Jeon asks his son, who takes a few seconds to realize what he had been asked.
"Hm? Oh, he's okay." Mrs. Jeon smiles at her husband, both content with their son's answer.
"That's good, I know it's a bit awkward at first but over time you both will warm up to each other." Mrs. Jeon explains as she hugs her son.
Jungkook's parents leave before him, giving Jungkook time to make a call. "Hey? Yeah, it just finished. Wanna meet up?"
"Sure. Same place as always?" Hoseok says from his side of the phone, hanging up to get ready to go out.
