Chapter 12: Confrontation
Lydia's Pov:
Terrance and I walked around the mansion. Our eyes focused on finding Aneira. I know Aneira went to look for bandages. But she should be coming back now. After all, how long does it take to find bandages? Still, Terrance and I keep looking and searching. While we do, I hear a grunt come from Terrance. Immediately, my eyes turn to him. Concern and worry begin to flash into my mind. Is Terrance okay? I ask him.
"No Lydia. I'm fine."
"Are you sure? I can walk if you don't want to carry me." Terrance shakes his head.
"You're fine Lydia. Don't worry. To be quite honest, you weigh as much a feather" Terrance said, a small chuckle emerging from his voice. Really? I weigh that little? Wow. I guess I really do have a high metabolism. Well, that's one fact I've learn today. Wow, you really do learn something new everyday! Wow.
Terrance and I continue to walk. Well, Terrance continues to walk. I just lay in his arms and keep a look out. Anyway, Terrance continues to walk. As he does, I can't help but be curious. Terrance is here on the island. And I remember him saying that he was looking for something. Did he find it?
"Hey Terrance. Did you find what you were looking for?" I ask. Immediately, Terrance rapidly shakes his head.
"Sorry, my beloved, I didn't catch that." I repeat the question. After asking, Terrance shakes his head again. This time, more slowly.
"Unfortunately, I haven't found it yet. But maybe I will soon." I see. Well, Aneira and I can still help Terrance if he needs it. I was about to ask him if needed help. But when my mouth opened, Terrance's grasp on me increased. Immediately, several gunshots go off. Before I could look, Terrance dodged the shots and pulled out his own gun. When he does, I get a glimpse of who tried to shoot us. Shock and surprise crashed violently against my heart. Is that... Aneira?! What on Earth is she doing?!
"That's as far as you go traitor. Drop Lydia!" Aneira said, her voice seething with deadly venom. Her eyes, usually a tranquil blue, are now a ferocious red.
"Aneira! What are doing?!" I ask as shock threatens to overtake me.
"Well well. If it isn't Aiden's little assistant. I heard from my beloved you were running around here. Just couldn't keep your nose out of someone else's business, ay Aneira?" Terrance said, his gun pointed directly at Aneira. Aneira doesn't move.
"Drop Lydia Terrance! Or you'll be sorry you ever walked on the face of this Earth!" A small chuckle escapes from Terrance's mouth.
"I was sorry about that years ago." With that, Terrance and Aneira didn't move. Their guns pointed directly at each other's heart. Anger and sadness penetrated my heart. Why are they acting like this? What's gotten into them? We're friends aren't we? I can't let them do this! I can't let neither one shoot! I have to stop this!
"That's enough! Terrance, put me down."
"But, my beloved, you're in no condition..." Immediately, I cut him off.
"I don't care. Put me down." It doesn't matter if I can walk or not, this has to be stopped! Right here, right now! I'm not letting them kill each other! With a reluctant sigh, Terrance puts me down. When he does, my body wobbles for a bit before finally standing straight.
"Incredible! You shouldn't even be able to stand right now..." Terrance said behind me.
"Yeah well when you're friends are going to kill each other, you're body tends to override it's own pain or whatever. Anyway you two, enough! You're not going to kill each other! Put you're weapons down now! Or you both will regret walking the face of the Earth!" I said, my anger bursting out of me like a broken water line. Aneira looks at me, her piercing gaze staring directly at me. I look back, determined to end all this. No way you're scaring me Aneira. You and Terrance aren't hurting each other. Not today, not ever. Certainly not under my watch. Aneira's piercing eyes soften slightly.
"Lydia... you don't understand! Terrance betrayed me. He left me to die in Oakley! Not only that, he was the one who attacked this island! Him and his team! Their after something Lydia! I don't know what but..." Immediately, I cut her off.
"That doesn't matter right now! I don't care who did this or that! It... doesn't... matter! Do you hear me or do I need to speak slowly? It... does... not... matter! Put you guns down! You aren't going to kill each other! Not over this" I say, my anger fading. A lump suddenly forms in my throat. My eyes, hot with sadness and anger begin to become watery. Before I could even realize it, tears begin to fall from my face. Their cold touch wetting my cheeks with despair. I won't let you guys fight! I don't want you too! You guys are my best friends in the whole world! You can't fight! Not now!
Terrance looks at me. His nigh unreadable face letting out feelings of concern. His hand and gun quaking. Without another word, Terrance puts his gun down. When he does, I hear him say something.
"I will not hurt my beloved Lydia over a bothersome quarrel." With that, I feel a gentle hand on my shoulder. Its gentle squeeze giving me comfort against the thrashing waves of anger and sadness. Immediately, my hands go to wipe my eyes. A small hope begins to glimmer inside me. Good. I've persuaded Terrance. Now I just need to get Aneira. My attention shifts to Aneira. With an expectant look and some more anger pushed her way, Aneira finally puts her gun down. With that, the confrontation between them was finally put to an end. At least, for now. However, afterwards I made something very clear to Aneira.
"We will talk later. And you will listen, got that?" Aneira quickly nods. My attention turns toward Terrance.
"And you. You've got a lot of explaining to do."
"I know my beloved." Now then, let's get off this island. Aneira, Terrance and I proceed forward. However, before we could go a step, a strangely familiar face approaches us. What the...? Is that...? The unknown figure stands before me. We weren't sure of her intentions or actions. But we were going to find out.
