Pain.

That was the first thing that Zara felt as her eyes fluttered open to the warm hue light that came into the room that she was in. It was unusually silent that she could hear the working of the centralised air conditioner.

She wanted to move herself up but she felt numb.

Imprisoned.

Scared.

She tried to open her mouth to call for help but there was a plaster beneath her jaw. But she did not want to talk. She was unbelievably tired. All that she wanted to do was go back to sleep.

"Hey." She heard a voice.

Adrian.

She recognised his voice.

"Go back to sleep." Was it just her imagination or was he soothing her hair? "You're on heavy medication. You need to heal."

Heal.

That explained the pricking sensation on her right arm.

She was on IV.

"How...." She tried to speak but consciousness was taken away by her own body once again and she went into a deep slumber.
