Taehyung's POV
"We have a problem." Yoongi's voice rang through my ears, my head moving towards him. I glanced at him, waiting for him to continue. "It's too quiet." He's right, it is. "I'm not talking about a break between them- no. I'm talking about the fact that it's deadly silent out here."
"I know," I said, walking down the street, which was blocked off. "We fought off the creatures yesterday, but there were hundreds of them. Surely we couldn't have killed them all." Yoongi shook his head, glancing around the city. Even the city was quiet today, which isn't a normal thing.
It's Friday.
"Something's not right. It shouldn't be this quiet." The forest edge was seen over the buildings that surrounded us, the wind nonexistent as well as the animals. Something truly wasn't right. I spotted Hoseok walking towards us, a look of confusion on his face. "What's going on?" He asked, arms raised in the air.
"I wish I knew, Hoseok. Where are the others?" He pointed towards the end of the street, my eyes landing on our friends as they turned the corner. "I don't fucking like this," Yoongi added, arms crossed over his chest, eyes narrowed in a glare. "Trust me, I'm all for not fighting, but this is too suspicious."
"Maybe it's an off day?" Hoseok suggested, shrugging with a look of confusion on his face. I hummed, shaking my head. "Not a chance. Something's going on, something we aren't aware of." Jungkook walked up to me, staring into my eyes. "Do you know what's going on?" I shook my head, about to respond.
But then, I felt it. It was the slightest wave of magic power, and it wasn't coming from Jungkook, myself, or my friends. I glanced off into the horizon, staring at the treeline. "Shut up, everyone," I commanded, eyes focusing off in the distance. It fell quiet between all of us, my mind working to concentrate on my senses.
Then, I felt it again, and again, and again. I heard footsteps, a lot of them. There were no creatures to be seen, but I knew better. I caught the glint of something just passed the forest edge, and that's all it took for me to know what was happening. Shit. "Hold on to something," I whispered, knowing my friends heard me.
I doubled my power, raising my foot up and then stomping it down on the ground, shaking the area around us, all the way up to the forest. The disguise disappeared and there stood hundreds of creatures, big and small, red eyes and contorted looking faces. "Fuck," I cursed, staring directly at them.
"I fucking knew it. I knew something was wrong," Yoongi stated, cursing under his breath. "Elementals, get ready, we have a fight on our hands." We formed a line, readying ourselves for the wave of evil creatures before us. However, something still didn't feel right. Why weren't they rushing?
Something is coming your way, and it isn't weak.
My black rose charm lit up, levitating a bit which caused my eyes to find it. Soros. His warning. I knew something was wrong. "Quick," I whispered, catching my friends' attention, "Listen carefully. Soros warned me about a threat coming for us. Apparently there's something that's coming for us and it isn't weak, unlike the creatures we've been fighting."
"So, then are these more powerful?" I shook my head. "I don't know, but we can't let ourselves fall off guard. Fight hard, fight together. We can't risk anything." They nodded, forming the line again, my magic building up inside of me. Who is making the first move? From the forest, I could spot giants, bigger than any we had fought before.
Uh oh.
My heart was racing, sensing more on the way. This battle, it won't be anything like the ones we've been doing. We need to work together, as a team. I was drawn away from my thoughts by a creature sprinting forward, running around the building, and shooting something from his mouth. "Duck!"
We did, falling to the ground. I narrowed my eyes, rushing forward, so fast it caught the creature off guard. My hand balled up into a fist, hitting his face and knocking him back. Ice danced around my feet and I looked up, watching as waves of creatures rushed at us.
"Elementals! Get ready to fight!" Lightning struck the ground, hitting the first few creatures, screams emitting from them. The battle began, but my friends and I kept our ground, planning our attacks together and killing them off one by one. "The weak ones go first," We heard from around us, my eyes widening.
Who was that?
Something shot at us from the sky, my magic instantly forming a barrier of water and ice around all seven of us. Jungkook pressed his back against mine, his fingers intertwining with my own. "Taehyung." His voice was deep and full of authority, something that threw me off guard. "We're in plain sight. We need a cover."
Cover.
"Set this city on fire," I said. Closing my eyes and telling my magic what to do. My magic never runs out, which means I can use as much of it as I want. Protect the city, water and ice. "Are you crazy?! What about the innocent civilians?!" I squeezed his hand, staring up at my water magic that was around us.
"Trust me!" I shouted, catching my friends' attention. "Set the city on fire! Now!" He did as I told him, the barrier removing as his fire grew and grew, so much so that it covered the streets and began to rise. "Things are about to get really dark. Whatever you do, don't move until I say so."
Water formed in waves, hitting the fire and causing smoke to rise up. "Now, we attack. Split up into teams of two. I'll distract them. We need to get these creatures of evil killed!" They didn't question me, moving in the smoke. I glanced at Jungkook, nodding slowly. "Go. I'll be fine."
He took off, running the smoke with Jimin beside him. The smoke was thick and you could hardly see anything, but I let my wings form, darkness disguising me. I flew up, spiraling into the air, spotting creatures flying and rushing into the city. I trust my magic. They won't get anywhere near the civilians.
Ice spikes formed in my hands as I flew, my eyes darkening as I began to attack. I sent spikes right into the creatures' skulls, hitting the brains and watching them fall to the ground. Thunder rumbled from the clouds as the sky grew dark, but something else caught my attention.
It was a person.
They were as tall as I was, an evil smirk on their face and eyes blood red. "Well, well, well," He said, voice deep and teasing, "if it isn't the famous dual wielder. I've heard stories about you, kid." My eyes narrowed as the smoke beneath me never disappeared.
"The legendary dual wielder, one who possesses both water and ice magic. You have quite a reputation." An eyebrow cocked up as I stared at him, suddenly feeling his magic power. Oh shit. He's stronger than anything we've faced so far. "Too bad you're not strong enough to face me."
"Wanna bet on that one?" I spoke, challenging him. His smirk grew and his eyes flashed with mischief. "Sure," He teased, shrugging, "If you're willing to leave your friends behind to die, then, by all means, let's fight." In my mind, I commanded my magic to shield them, forming barriers around each of them as they fought.
"I believe in my friends. They'll be just fine without me." He didn't say anything, instead, he just waved his hand, power flying off of it. It hit me and I stumbled back a bit in the air, the smoke disappearing from the ground. "Let's fight, shall we?" I nodded, eyes narrowed as I landed on the ground, followed by him.
The battlefield grew quiet and all eyes focused on us. My friends were wide-eyed, watching as I faced this new person working on the dark side. "Aren't you going to say goodbye to your friends? After all, this is the last time you'll see them." I smiled, glancing at them.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that." The creatures swarmed us, creating the barrier to which we couldn't escape out of. This fight, it was a fight to the death. "Kim!" I heard from afar, my eyes widening as I saw Jungkook running towards me. Hoseok caught him, pulling him back and nodding at me.
They believe in me.
Jungkook, stay strong.
"So, Kim, hmm?" I crossed my arms, feeling the magic work through my veins. "Does my name truly matter to you? You wanted a fight," I said, pointing my finger at him, "then let's fight." He smirked again, magic power flying off of him. It was strong, most definitely, but I've faced more.
After all, I fought Illume.
I smirked too, letting my eyes darken even more, changing my stance. He laughed, walking towards me, waving his hand again as another wave of power flew at me. It hit me and instead of knocking me back, it seeped into me. I laughed, tilting my head. "Is that all you got?"
He growled, literally, his magic power growing, so much so that it shook the ground. Oh please. I've made a whole palace shake. "You're all talk. If you were truly as powerful as you believe you are, you'd show me!" That's all it took for him to rush at me, screaming loudly.
I dodged, concentrating on my magic power. "You mean nothing to me! Your words are useless!" I laughed again, feeling his magic power just grow and grow and grow. But still, it didn't add up to Illume's. And it surely didn't add up to Soros'. He hit me with another wave of power, and that sent me back, causing me to fly.
I hit the ground with a groan, shaking my head as he stormed over to me. Okay. I've had enough of this idiot. I stood up, extending my palm and sending water at him, hitting him with it and sending him flying. The fight began and we threw punches, hitting one another.
Until finally, he sent so much power at me, it completely knocked the breath out of my body. I gasped, laying on the floor, feeling his magic power. I didn't want to do this, but if I have to, so be it! I stood up, shutting my eyes, and concentrating.
"Pathetic!" I heard him shout, my body turning cold. I opened my eyes, stomping on the ground, ice spikes, and ice covering the entire road. He jumped up, levitating above the ground with a smirk. "You missed." I tilted my head, smirking too.
"Not really. We're on my playing field now." My right leg and left arm turned to ice, water forming in waves around me. The creatures froze, completely encased in ice. I punched the ground, shattering it all, killing over a hundred creatures in one go.
Then, the ice was back, and this time I looked at him. "You know me as the human who has two powers," I said, loud and clear. "Yet in the end, you're the one who is the fool!" Darkness poured from my veins, tendrils seeping from my fingertips. "I'm stronger than you think."
I unleashed my magic power, shaking the ground and the buildings, watching as his eyes grew wide. The power was so strong, enough to make him shut his eyes and fall to the ground. My darkness magic was remained my strongest magic, but add in ice and water, it becomes lethal.
Tendrils shot at him, pinning his arms and legs, holding him in the air as my eyes turned black. "Remember which side of the war you belong to!" I roared, voice lowering an octave, darkness swirling around my entire being. "I have a message for Ozagi," I said, wrapping a tendril around his throat.
"I know you're his personal messenger." My laugh sounded evil, and I watched as his eyes grew even wider. "Tell him to unleash the beings he's keeping hidden from us. Tell him to show us what he's truly capable of." I raised him up into the air, tilting my head. "Tell him, now!"
He nodded, tears spilling from his eyes. "Good." I extended my hand, forming a fist. The tendrils tightened around him and I saw the strain in his face. "Remember which side of the war you belong to." I laughed, smiling devilishly.
"It'll be the side that falls."
