Taehyung's POV
Dodge!
I sucked in a breath, dodging the oncoming ball of fire, hissing as it passed right over my head. Fingers outstretched, I aimed my hand at the source, ice-cold water pouring out from my palm. Smoke began to rise, the fire being put out in seconds.
Behind!
I spun around, a wall of ice forming directly in front of me, shielding me from the vine that belonged to Jin. I took a deep breath, pointing my fingers at the ground, ice forming whenever I walked. It was like I was ice skating in the winter, gliding over the ice, spinning in circles, and doing figure eights.
I was blocking every attack thrown at me, from fire to earth, water circling around my body. I flashed a smile, letting my legs turn to ice, my right arm changing from human flesh to compacted ice. I punched the ground, forming spikes and allowing my ice to cover the entire floor.
Jungkook used his lava to melt my ice, a playful glare sent his way as I pushed myself away from the battlefield with my water magic, looking around. Look for a different angle. Find the source. My eyes scanned over the Elementals, seeing their magic pour from their hands.
"That's it," I whispered, staring at their hands. "The source." I have to be quick or they'll catch on. I looked down at my hands, thinking of a plan before rushing into action. What do I do? Use ice? Use water? My eyes widened, a smile forming on my face.
Make waves.
I aimed my palms at the Elementals, water beginning to form large, dangerous waves, rushing straight at the other six. I took this time to run across the floor, using ice to capture them, freezing their feet to the ground. Hoseok was first, my hands that were frozen with ice clamping down on his electric ones.
Frozen, one down five more to go.
I repeat my plan over and over in my head, racing throughout the training room, freezing the feet and hands of my fellow teammates, smiling once every magic in the room disappeared. Glacius and Drift clapped, the rest of the gods clapping for us as well. "Great work everyone! It's been a great first week!"
I smiled, high fiving my teammates, the seven of us cheering amongst ourselves. "We have three more weeks to train you to the best of our ability. After that, whether you choose to live or die becomes your decision. You'll be on your own." I nodded, glancing at my gods, seeing them smile.
"Eat and then rest for the night. You have one day off tomorrow before we get back into training. Expect next week's training to be even harder than this week's." We nodded, the portal to Illume's palace opening up again.
"Think you can meet me at my palace before you head to bed?" I heard Soros ask, seeing him lean against the wall, darkness dancing around his fingers. I smiled, flashing a wide smile. "Can always make time to see you, Soros." He smiled too, removing the portal then disappearing. I chuckled, heading to the dining room.
The seven of us ate, exchanging some small talk and continuing to get to know one another. Namjoon was officially crowned as the leader yesterday, and since then he's been giving each of us kind and wise words. Yoongi, the newest co-leader seems to be the one who holds all the wisdom.
Hoseok, the second co-leader of this team, spreads hope.
After dinner was over, Jungkook and I headed towards our shared room, opening the door and shutting it immediately after. "You wanna shower first, or...?" I trailed off, seeing him yawn. "Nah, you can. I'm gonna crash." I nodded, grabbing my towel and some new clothes, heading for the bathroom.
I showered, drying off and brushing my teeth, running a brush through my wet hair in an attempt to dry it. When I left the bathroom, Jungkook was laying on his bed, back faced to me, his chest heaving up and down in a steady rhythm. I hummed, heading up to my own loft area, sitting on my bed.
I looked out the window, seeing the stars twinkle in the night sky. It brought a smile to my face, seeing the clear night filled with sparkling stars. It brought a sense of happiness and calmness my way, my shoulders slumping a little bit. This week has been both fun and stressful, yet I've learned so much.
I've learned about magic and I've learned about life lessons. I'm grateful for the opportunity to possess these powers, and I'll work extra hard to keep them. I smiled, glancing down at my necklace which held an ice dolphin, a dark magic black rose, and a wave made of water.
Drift gave me a charm to add two days ago.
I smiled more, glancing up at the sky again and reciting the words Soros said to me. I was instantly teleported into his palace, the god of darkness sitting upon his throne, eyes closed. "Nice to see you again, Kim." I smiled, nodding in agreement. He stood up, motioning for me to follow him.
I did, seeing him walk throughout his large palace and up some giant stairs. When I say giant, I mean giant. These stairs were probably as tall as a three-story building. I used my wings made of darkness, flying up and over the stairs, sitting on the very top one. The door behind me opened, revealing what looked like a master bedroom.
"Gods sleep?" I asked, seeing him sit down on his bed, a deep chuckle leaving his lips. "We do." I hummed, flying up onto his bed and sitting beside him, staring out the grand window that displayed the beautiful night sky. "I have something for you." I hummed again, glancing at Soros.
He opened his hand, fingers extended with something resting on his palm. My eyes widened, jaw-dropping open. A phone. "You don't exactly get service up here, but it'll let you listen to music and play games." I took it, a pair of headphones accompanied with the phone.
"You're allowing me to listen to music?" He nodded, darkness swirling around him. "You look like the type who enjoys it." I flashed a wide grin, my heart racing. "Thanks, Soros." We sat in silence for a bit, the phone clutched neatly in my hand.
"You know," I spoke up after a period of silence, seeing his eyes flicker down to meet mine, "I never really had parents I could rely on," I spoke, flashing a small smile. Soros raised an eyebrow, looking down at me. "And, maybe it's too soon to say this, but you're like the father I never had."
His eyes seemed to soften, a warm, fond smile resting upon his face. His eyes weren't as black anymore, instead, they were, like, a dark brown. "Do you really mean that?" I nodded, smiling up at him. "That- that means a lot to me. Thank you. I've never really had the chance to have a human of my own, to train, and to guide."
"You're the first who has come this far." I looked down at my legs. Ice and water swirling up my calves and thighs, wrapping around my waist and forearms. I sighed, feeling at ease, a sense of calmness taking over my body. "Soros?" I asked, darkness dancing around us.
"How do you know so much about the Infinites? You knew about me when I told you what Glacius and Drift said, but how?" Soros sighed, looking down at me and flashing a smile. "And don't tell me it comes with being a god, I know that isn't it." A laugh left his lips, a nod sent my way.
"This is also why I like you, Kim. You're clever. You don't fall for each word that leaves someone's mouth, you find the deeper meaning and what lies beneath those words. You find the lies." I cocked an eyebrow, listening to Soros speak. "You think so?"
"Kim, I know so. You could tell there was more to the story when I explained how it has to do with me being some god. You put the pieces together, you figure out the puzzle." I hummed, heading him sigh softly. "But you're right, it isn't just the fact that I'm a god." I flashed a small smile, looking at him.
"Can you tell me?" He met my eyes for a split second, nodding slowly. "As long as you promise to keep this information a secret from the other Elementals. Even the gods themselves don't know about this." I raised both my eyebrows, shock flooding my body.
"I promise I won't tell anyone, Soros." He smiled, nodding. "Five thousand years," He began, sitting up straight, a small smile on his face. "That's how long I've been a god." A gasp escaped my mouth, my eyes widening tremendously. "Whether you believe it or not, I was once like you."
"A human."
"I was picked as one of the few to possess an Elemental power. My god, he gave me his dark magic. Illume and I were on the same team, the two of us undeniably stronger than the rest." I nodded, listening closely to his story. "Yet, somehow, I managed to overpower the god of light and his human, Illume."
"My magic power just kept growing and growing, even my own God didn't know how it was happening or why. When we went into battles, I was always the victor and no one knew why." He laughed, shaking his head. "No one knew how my magic worked, but I did. I knew my magic was different from the rest."
There's a meaning behind this. What is it? "They grew scared of me, scared that I was heading towards evil rather than good. I was beginning to be seen as the outcast, someone who didn't fit in with the others." I frowned, my heart clenching at his words. How could they do that?
"We were supposed to be a team, but they pushed me away because they feared what I could do. My magic, it was different from theirs, so they feared what it was capable of." His eyes met mine again, a sad smile on his face. "My god stuck beside me though. I continued to train without the others. I grew stronger, more powerful. I learned the ins and outs of my magic along with others."
"I worked on my own most of the time. I traveled to earth before the others did. I completed missions by myself rather than with the team. I took out enemies." I cocked an eyebrow, shocked at this. I knew Soros was powerful, but this powerful? "Eventually, I overpowered my own God."
"It hit a point where I didn't know what to do with my magic. It was growing stronger and I didn't know how to stop it. I took on the name Soros, and soon enough the name spread across the world. Gods, humans, even demons learned about me." I heard Soros snicker, his eyes turning black again.
"They feared me." I frowned again, scooting closer to him. "They feared who I was. My own God ended up transferring his magic into me completely and granting me immortality. I was completely on my own from that point forward." He sighed, shaking his head. "There's a clear reason why I know so much about the Infinites."
"They connect with their magic because their hearts are different. From what I've seen over the years, Infinites are usually broken people who know how to love when they find a soulmate. Their hearts are cold yet kind at the same time." Soros looked at me, pointing to my heart. "You're right, Kim, I don't know about Infinites just because I'm a god."
"I know about Infinites because I was the one who came up with the name," He announced, another gasp leaving my lips. "What made you choose that name? And why? Did you train an Infinite?" Soros shook his head, smiling, his dark magic swirling around him.
"I choose the name because I studied the magic power they possessed. Their magic never ran out while others' magic did," He spoke, flashing this wide smile. "I think I understand," I spoke, seeing his eyes sparkle. "I think you do too, but in case you don't, I'll tell you."
"I know everything about the Infinites because I myself am one, Taehyung."
