CHAPTER 23

NIJIKA P.O.V.

ONE MONTH LATER

"THREE!" I screamed as I watched my brother point his index finger up.

"Good, you can stop your gyo," Sorata clapped before he took a chunk out of his chicken with his teeth.

I relaxed and stopped gathering my ren to my eyes. I winced slightly as I eyed all the bruises and scratched on my arms and legs. Some of them were purple and yellow, almost completely healed. I was injured everywhere, the only place I was not in pain was probably my face.

"I'm impressed Nijika, it only took you a month to master everything, you're even almost done with the advanced techniques," my brother complemented as he continued to eat his meal.

I sighed with exhaustion and sat next to him, "Well, I had the best teach me," I joke as I pick up my own piece of meat and bit into it.

We stayed silent as we ate. I mentally groaned, I only expected the training to be for few days but before I knew it a month already flew by.... I was suppose to be back with Gon and Killua.... I miss those knuckleheads.

"Actually you already mastered Gyo, In, En, Shu, Ken, Ko, and Ryu. It took me one and a half month while you got it in few weeks," Sorata pouted as he threw his bones away.

I grumbled with a mouthful of meat, "You're the who trained me so brutally every single freaking day. I honestly don't know how I survived." I complained as I picked up another piece of chicken. I eyed my hand that was full of blisters from shoveling through the mountain. Ugh, the pain....

Sorata wholeheartedly laughed as he watched me eat, "Aww, don't be all querulous on me sis, I'm just repeating the training my teacher taught me!"

I inwardly shivered, "If your training is this bad, I don't want to know how hard your teachers training was..."

"Hahaha! Actually your training might be a bit harder, I often ran way from my training menu and hid away from her!"

I sweat dropped at my brothers comment. I quickly gulped down my lunch and drank a bottle full of water.

"Oi, another ten minute break and do 100 push-ups and 200 sit ups, then we'll start your last training."

My eyes widen in shock, without even bothering to rest for ten minutes I fell onto the ground and easily started to do push-ups. I quickly finished before going to my sit ups.

I jumped up and ran towards my brother as I finished what he told me to do. He watched me with a crooked smile.

"Good, five minutes twenty six seconds, you improved two minutes." He suddenly then pulled out a miniature whiteboard from his backpack, "Sit down, I'm giving you a lesson."

Obeying him I sat in front of him as he started to write with his marker, "Ok, there are six types of aura, and every person in the world is born with one of these six aura types."

With interest I watched as he started to write six Kanji on the board, "Those six are known as Enhancer, Transmuter, Conjurer, Emitter, Manipulator, and Specialist." I nodded, memorizing the six names.

"Enhancers are known as simpleminded but determined, they usually use pure force and power to win. They have the ability to increase the natural ability of their own body or an object they hold.

Transmuter are called sneaky and are often called liars, they usually never tell other's their goal and use that as an advantage with their sneakiness. They can change their property of their aura to mimic something.

Conjurers are always alert, and because of that reason they're highly observant and usually never falls into traps. They can create physical material objects out of their aura, for example if they mastered their ability they could make a sword out of their aura or any other weapon.

Emitters are hot blooded people and act on whim, they are quite similar to the Enhancers but they tend to easily calmed down or forget things. People with the ability are capable of controlling the deployment of their aura while separating it from the body.

Manipulator are people who move at their own pace, to win a battle they usually think logically before taking action, but when it comes to their goal they are know to be stubborn. Like the name saids they can manipulate living and non-living things, though the way depends on the person who holds the power.

And out of the whole six Specialists are the most rarest, they are know to keep to themselves but is often surrounded by people because of their charismatic character, specialist are anything that doesn't belong to the other five categories. They usually come from Specialization bloodlines or had their ability awaken by special environments they lived in."

I frowned that's a lot of information to take in at once... Though I quickly remembered the basic material.

"In the Kijime family history it's know that most of us were Manipulators, Conjurers or Specialist. The specialist held the power to control the element. Dad was an Manipulator while Mom was a Specialist."

Wait, but Dad could use wind right? That doesn't make since.

"Then how can Dad-"

Sorata stopped me with his hand, "Some people can become specialist later in their life, but it usually only happens to Conjurers or Manipulators, that's why in our family people often had the ability to control elements."

Oh..... I understand now....

"Then am I a specialist?" I questioned, since I was able to use elements that means I'm a specialist right?

Sorata shrugged, "Most likely but you may be a Manipulator like me or a Conjurer and got the ability of a specialist as well. That reminds me, when you made that crystal, you conjured it, so you are a Conjurer as well."

I smiled, honestly I wanted yo be a specialist since it kind of felt more cool, "How do we figure out what type of aura I have?"

To my surprise my brother took out two wine glass out of his bag and a bottle of water. How in the world did he prevent it from breaking?

I watched with curiosity as he started to pour the water in two of the glasses, then he stood up and went to a bush picking two green leaves. He gently placed one leaf in each cup.

"This will help us determine what aura we have, you need to place your hands around the cup and concentrate your aura to it," I watched with Gyo as Sorata's aura bursted out and fiercely hit the glass of water. My eyes widen in fascination as the leaf on top of the water started to move around the water.

"If the leave moves like mine it means you are a manipulator." Sorata stopped and grinned at me, "If the volume of the water changes, then you are an Enhancer. If the taste of the water changes, then a Transmuter. If impurities appear in the water, then a Conjurer. If the color of the water changes, then an Emitter. If a completely different change appears, then you are a Specialist."

I took a step forward to the glass and placed my hand over the water. I looked up at my brother in question.

"I just gather my aura to my hands?" I questioned.

Sorata nodded making his dark hair bob. I took a deep breath in and concentrated my aura to my hand. I gasped as the leaf suddenly sunk to the bottom of the glass.

"Wha-" but before I could pull my hands back the glass and water and glass crystallized making sharp shiny stones pop out in different places. And with a crack the glass broke in half and fell on the ground with a light 'clink'.

"Wow," I gapped as I eyed the glass that was split in half. I reached and touched the crystal that formed, this used to be water... I frowned, it's hard and cold, I turned water into crystals?

I looked up and stared at my brother startled, "Does this mean I'm a specialist?"

His mouth was hanging open in shock as he nodded his head, "Yes it means you're a specialist, but that was pretty interesting."

I nod in agreement and stood up, "What now?"

My brother smiled and took a step away from me, "Congratulation, Nijika Kijime you just passed the second part of the hidden hunters exam."

What? Hidden exam? Since when was I taking part in one?

Sorata laughed his pearl white teeth shining under the sun, "Every person who passed the test must master nen before they become an official hunter, everyone else should be learning about it right now."

I nodded on understanding, "So my training just ended but what do I do now that I know I'm a specialist?" I questioned. Really, what was I suppose to do now?

Sorata just smiled at me, his green eyes shining, "You now have to learn about yourself, specialist are the rarest but those who have the ability must train hard to master it. And you won't have someone to teach you since you're the only one in the world that holds that power."

Great.... That's some good encouragements.....

"But being a specialist has a lot of positive ways to it, unlike the other auras you could master the other five if you wanted to. You can be a Conjurer, Enhancer, Manipulator, Emitter and Transmuter, being a specialist is a gift."

"Is there any other thing I should know of?" I questioned suspiciously.

Thoughtful look appeared on my brothers face. Though as if a lightbulb lit up he grinned.

"I forgot to mention some thing about our bloodline! You probably know that our family was extremely good at tracking people down."

I nodded, recalling what Kurapika, my blonde friend read me. He did mention we could
find our target wherever they were...

"Well, have you ever wondered how we were able to track them down?"

I frowned, yes, that was a mystery to me. How did my ancestors track down their target?

Sorata grinned and whistled loudly with his fingers. Seconds later birds from the forest swooped down and landed around us. I looked around in shock as I noticed other animals gathering around, many of them watching us from the trees and bushes.

"The Kijime family have a bond with animals, from the legends say the first Kijime was a mixture of a animal and human, and after they had children these children were born with a animal in them..."

Ah? This sounds unbelievable, born with a animal in them? Anyways how can there be a mixture of human and animal, that doesn't even make sense, nor is it possible.

"Anyways that's what the legend said, and that's the reason why we can connect and understand animals thoughts and speeches..." Sorata trailed off with a frown, "So the Kijime used animals around the area and searched for their targets, and we do have a better noses and taste then regular people."

I nodded in understanding and scratched my head, something's not right. Sorata's obviously not telling me something... My fingers got caught into knots and I groaned in pain. Man, I really need a shower.

"Looks like we both need to have a nice long shower!" Sorata laughed and started to pack his things.

"Ne, Ni-chan..." I started to call him that after the second week training with him, though I often call him Sorata as well, "What do you think I should concentrate on? I don't even know what I want to be able to do..."

My brother stopped his movement for a second, his hands were closing the zipper of his bag. He finished packing and looked down at me, he went on his knees and placed both of his hands on my shoulder so he could look into my eyes.

I gulped slightly as his forest green eyes stared into me. They were intimidating, were mine like that too?

"Nijika, you just need to figure out what you want to do. If you want to be an attacker you need to find a way to fight, if you want to protect you need something to protect. I myself am a fighter, I hunt for criminals." He gave me a small encouraging smile, "And from what I've seen, you already have few interesting powers and abilities."

Interesting powers and ability? I had something like that?

"When you made crystals have you ever thought it was weird how the color changed whenever someone else but you touched it?"

I nodded my head thinking about the crystals I made my friends. They did change colors.

"From what I think the color represents their aura and characteristics. Can you make me one right now?"

Without thinking I clasped my hands together and concentrated my aura to my hand. It's strange how I was using nen before I even learned it, all those time I made crystals I was using my aura.

When I felt weight in my hand I opened it and showed Sorata the perfectly shaped stone. Though my eyes widen when I noticed how much it was different from the others I made.

"Wow.... Is this an diamond?" I questioned as I placed the large size stone between my index finger and thumb.

I looked at Sorata in question he just grinned widely and ruffled my hair, "Since you mastered your nen your powers must have been able to make a diamond. Maybe if you use less concentration you can make less expensive stones..." He trailed off in thought, "Anyways watch this."

My green eyes stared at my brother as he collected his aura to his hand, he nodded at me, "Put it in my hand."

I obeyed his order and placed the crystal in his hand. And like any other time the clear rock turned dark blue.

Sorata smirked and nodded, "Welp, I think my assumption is correct, I was collecting my aura I use to control water into my hand and look, the crystal turned blue."

Wow, that's pretty cool. Then a thought suddenly popped in my head. Can I heal people with this power?

"Sorata-nii, do you think I can heal people with this power?"

My brother had a thoughtful look on his face for a second, "Well in Yakusou Mura the the village leader adds his aura to his ointment that makes it heal injuries so I think it's possible. But you'll probably have to practice being an enhancer and an emitter to be able to do whatever you're thinking."

If my plan worked I might just be able to...

"Anyways let's go to an hotel and take a shower!"

>>TIME SKIPS>>

I patiently meditated while sitting on the bed, my brother was currently taking a shower. When we first got here he was a gentleman let me take a shower first. My clothes were fresh and clean while no grime was left on my skin. In a month my hair grew once again with an alarming speed. It reached my lower shoulder now, almost to the top of my chest.

My aura covered my body with a even flow as I relaxed, taking deep breaths and then letting it out. I opened my eyes when I heard the door open. My brother came walking out with a towel wrapped around his waist while another one was drying his shaggy black hair.

I watched him stolidly as he rummaged through his backpack. Not to be weird or anything but he was definitely in shape, a clear six pack and broad shoulders and muscular arms.

"Sorata, do you have a girlfriend?" I questioned out of the blue.

My brother turned towards me in shock before laughing, "Nah, I'm single. I never have time for a relationship and nor do I want one. It's likely the person I date will get targeted when criminals find what her relationship with me is."

"Then what about Menchi?" I question the image of the turquoise haired female popping into my head.

Sorata shivered slightly but my green eyes didn't miss it.

"Menchi? Noooo......" Sorata grumbled as he threw on some pants and a shirt.

I didn't even bother asking the question, I was already feeling he had some negative emotion towards her. I didn't hate my examiner but I didn't like her either....

"Ne, I'm going back to the tower of celestial tournament but what are you going to do?" I questioned as I laid down on the bed and relaxed. I needed to get all my energy back to fly back to my friends...

Sorata suddenly grew serious as he pulled out some knifes and needles out of his pockets, "I need to go back to work, I'm currently hunting down a group of people."

I pouted slightly, I keep forgetting he's a blacklist hunter. But I wonder what group he's hunting down.

"Oi Nijika, catch."

Startled I caught the object he threw at me, though I juggled it with my hands before my fingers securely wrapped around it.

"A phone?" I ask as I flip the dark blue electronic in my hand. It looked cheap and easily breakable.....

"Don't look at it like that," Sorata scolded, "That's the phone the hunters organization gave me, it's the most high tech phone they made so far!"

I looked at the phone and look at my brother bored, "Your lying. This cheep looking thing can't be the most high tech device they have!"

Sorata looked offended but sighed, "This 'cheep looking thing' can translate every language in the world, can get wifi anywhere in the world and you can track even track down people who are in your contact list. It's also water proof, and damage proof to almost anything."

I stared at the plastic "device" in disbelief, this thing could do such thing?

"Anyways we need to set it up, there's this strange system that you have to flow your nen into it to unlock the phone, kind of like a password, but after you set it up, it won't unlock unless it's your nen."

"So, if any other person flows their nen into it it won't unlock?" I questioned in fascination.

My brother nodded and quickly help me set it up, "Now flow your aura into it." I complied and easily flowed my aura into the phone, "Ok, now it's your phone, let me add my contact to it."

Sorata then gave me the blue phone back to me, "Ok so if one of us runs into trouble we'll call each other. Or we can call to trade informations."

I nodded, with this I could track down my brother when I have to. I then smiled and got off the bed.

"Nii-chan, I'm going to head out..."

My brother looked at me slightly sad but nodded, "Yeah, you should go back to your friends, I bet they're still training."

I frowned and walked up to him, with my skinny arms I wrapped my arms around him bring him into a tight hug, "Thanks for everything Nii-chan." I smile and press my face into his lower chest, "I going to YorkShin on September first so if you need to look for me go there."

I then let go and smiled at my older brother, I grab my bag and open the window of the room. I look back from my shoulder and give him a bright smile. He smiled back his green eyes twinkling.

"Bye Nii-chan stay safe and I'll see you soon!"

With that I jumped out of the window and shot into the sky. Now to get back to my friends....
