Chapter 2 - Drawn Together

Present Year 2023

In the quiet of her office, Yuna reached for a graphic book on her desk(The girl, the mouse, the cat, and the unicorn). However, her attention was snatched by a magazine cover. With an intrigued gaze, she shifted her focus to the shelves and randomly pulled out a book – a Poetry Collection. The pages fell open to one marked by an ear, and the poem titled "The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost" awaited her.

As she read through it, the words flowed effortlessly, as if she had absorbed them a thousand times before. The lines seemed to have etched themselves in her subconscious over the years.

"Miss Yuna, your program is about to start!"

Closing the book, she turned her attention to the window. It was 10 AM, and the crowd outside was bustling with activity. She gazed into the distance, a smile gracing her lips. It appeared that this year's solar eclipse would be a topic of viral media coverage.

------- Year 2006 , Day 2 -------

Taeyang awoke to the silent hum of his vibrating phone. Snatching it up, he saw it was still 6:47 AM. It wasn't the early hour that furrowed his brow but the unfamiliar number glaring back at him. The call had dropped, revealing 17 missed calls.

Perplexed, he bravely answered number as soon as it rang again and was met with the sweet, cold voice he knew too well – Yuna.

"Hey, where are you? I've been calling you a bunch of times," Yuna's voice echoed through the phone.

"Sorry, just woke up. Why did you call so early?" Taeyang replied.

"Meet me now. I'll text you where," Yuna replied, and the call promptly ended.

Taeyang read the text, and quickly readied himself. Unconsciously, he was more dressed up than his regular self. Took a quick bath well, washed his face, and brushed his teeth and went on to meet Yuna.

"Over here!" Yuna shouted as soon as she sees Taeyang.

In the morning light, Taeyang marveled at how Yuna's radiance seemed to glow even brighter. He silently offered a prayer of gratitude for being fortunate enough to witness such beauty at the break of day.

"Hey, uh, Yuna. I'm here to get my cap," Taeyang spoke, his eyes still fixed on Yuna.

"Oh, I forgot about that," she pretended, flashing a cute apology. "I left it at my bed in the dorm. Sorry."

Surprisingly, Taeyang's anger about the lost limited edition signed cap faded away with Yuna's adorable apology.

"You know, Taeyang, I can't let you stare at me like that... You're not my type at all," she teased.

"That's fine with me. Now give me back my cap!" Taeyang retorted.

Yuna's mischievous smile grew wider. "About your cap, we can get it back together later," she suggested. "Can you come with me? I have an idea now on how we can complete our task!"

As they strolled aimlessly to Yuna's instructions, fatigue crept in, prompting them to take a seat on a bench in the serene green park. The surroundings were hushed, and the melodic chirping of birds painted a tranquil backdrop.

"Hey, Taeyang! What's my favorite color?" Yuna playfully inquired, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Blue, why?" he responded.

She swiftly fired off more questions, "My favorite street food?" To which he promptly replied, "Gamja Hotdog!"

"My dream vacation?" she probed next, and he answered, "Jeju Island!"

The tone shifted playfully as Yuna threw in a sudden interrogation, "What's my phone number?" Taeyang, responding instinctively, provided the digits, "+82 XX XXX XXXX."

Yuna grinned, a mix of thrill and flattery in her expression. "How do you know all of that?" she teased, her eyes dancing with amusement. "Are you my stalker?"

Panicking in his thoughts, Taeyang quickly composed himself. "Hey, I know them, from last night during our getting-to-know session!" he defended with a sheepish grin.

"But you just got my number today when I contacted you. How come you memorize my number?" Yuna questioned, her curiosity evident in her playful tone.

Taeyang chuckled, "I just have a good memory, that's all. You missed called me plenty of times this morning!"

"So, you memorize the numbers of anyone who calls you?" She teased once again, a glint of mischief in her eyes.

The truth was, Taeyang had memorized it out of excitement. He never admitted it, but it was written all over his face, and Yuna read it clearly - she was flattered.

Taeyang was not one to miss his classes, he politely informed Yuna, "I'm heading to my 8:30 AM class. My last class ends at 4:00 PM."

"You're boring," Yuna replied with a playful pout. "I'll message you later about where to meet up." With that, she left, skipping away like a happy little girl. Taeyang watched her departure, checking his watch, "I still have 15 minutes; I can't afford to miss that class."

Why did Yuna not return Taeyang's cap?
