#12 - Angel School
Phoenix's POV
"Today you will be attending your first angel classes!" God announces excitedly while barging into my room and turning the light on.
Groaning, I roll over in my bed and pull the blankets over my face.
"Cancel it." I mutter.
Multiple chuckles echo through my room. I recognise all of them. There's God, with his deep baritone chuckle, Castiel, with his deep but almost shyly soft chuckle and Uriel with his high pitched annoying cackle.
Groaning softly, I bury my face in my pillow more and wrap my blankets around me tighter. I hear someone walk further into my room and then they pull off my blankets.
"Noooo..." I whine in disbelief.
"Come on, young one. Up and at em. Time to seize the day. It's your first day of school." God answers my whining with his kind of obnoxious enthusiasm.
"Ugh." I sigh before pulling myself out fo the end and heading to the bathroom to shower. I wash myself thoroughly and brush my teeth before getting out and getting dressed into the pure white school uniform.
Once dressed, I make my way out of my room and to the kitchen, but I'm unable to eat due to nerves so I sit there and watch everyone else enjoy pancakes.
Castiel walks over and hands me an apple.
"You have to eat something, Phoenix, even if it's just one apple." He explains and shoves the apple in my face.
Huffing, I take a dramatic bite of the apple and show Cas it being chewed up in my mouth. All Castiel does is grin, which is not the reaction I want.
I continue eating the apple until it's done and then converse casually with Castiel and some of the other original angels seated near us.
All too soon the old grandfather clock dings, signalling that it's 8am, and I have to start my new day at school. Great.
The walk to the Angel Academy school seems to not take long enough and soon enough, I arrive at the nine-foot high gold metal gates.
"Go in young one." Castiel smiles and gently nudges me. I give him a panicked look before slowly walking towards the building.
Taking a deep breath, I walk into the building, not looking back in fear of running back to Cas like a child. I slowly walk through the hallway, looking around until I spot a sign that says "Office and Administrations".
I bite my bottom lip gently before following the signs to the office where I then walk up to the person behind the desk.
"Hi.. uh.. I'm new.." I mumble awkwardly, totally ready to throw myself out of the closest window.
"Ah, yes! Phoenix Star, yes?" The lady asks, messing through some pieces of paper until she finds one that says my name.
"Yes ma'am." I reply.
The lady smiles brightly and hands me the paper with all of the information that I need written on it. Smiling lightly, I gently take the paper and scan it.
"Thank you." I say with a slight nod before walking out of the building and back into the hallway, following the map to my first period classroom.
I look around before picking a seat where I plant my behind and anxiously tap the desk as I wait for the bell to ring. I pull the paper out of my pocket and look through the subjects I have.
"Flying lessons, magic lessons, English lessons, mathematic lessons, practise and free period. Wow, fun." I mumble out.
"What fun." A voice appears by my ear, causing me to jump and drop the paper.
I turn my head and look at the person, my eyes narrowed in irritation.
"What do you want?" I snap.
Ryder just smiles innocently.
"Nothing, nothing at all. It just seems that the favourite pet of God is actually attending Angel school, and will be attending the same classes as me, it's funny." Ryder explains.
I roll my eyes and stand up to walk away.
He grabs my arm and pulls me back. "Don't be so quick to leave pet, I thought we were going to be good friends."
I glare and yank my arm away.
"Keep your hands to yourself, stop calling me pet and just leave me alone." I grumble.
Ryder smirks at my glare.
"Keep your distance, or we'll have problems, capeesh?" I snap.
"But I want to be your friend, Nixyyy~" Ryder pouts.
"No." I answer and walk off, heading to a different desk on the other side of the room.
I suffer through the introduction of flight before the teacher decides it's time to test out how well we were listening.
The whole class walks outside to a large field.
"Now class, I would like everyone to present their wings." The teacher announces and presents her own wings, which are a little on the small side and starting to go a yellow-ish colour.
Sighing, I feel the skin on my back split as my wings sprout effortlessly. The teacher and other students pause in awe as they stare at my wings.
"Mind your selves." I mutter loud enough for everyone to hear.
Everyone presents their wings, some struggling more than others and some being more affected by the pain.
"Raise your hands if you've flown before." The teacher asks.
I raise my hand and so does about half the class.
The teacher nods, "Alright. Those of you who can fly and don't need much help, start practicing your taking off and landings. Those of you who have never flown or still need a bit of help, follow me."
We obey the teacher and myself and a few others start practicing, while the others get a bit more help. Before long though, we're all flying well and the teacher sets up a game for us to play to help us with our practising and make it more fun. During the game we are able to fly, but to score we have to land and run.
When the bell goes for our next classes, I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face.
I think angel school will be better than regular school.
