Background: Iris was born to Korean parents in Seoul, and they moved to the US due to her father's work. She fell in love with dancing and singing growing up, and finally gave in after attending a KCON in LA. She convinced her parents to let her pursue a career in the idol business, to which her father refused at first, but eventually gave in. She auditioned for JYP Entertainment, and made it in as a trainee when she was sixteen, but didn't get a chance to debut even after three years of training.
