Chapter 6

Grant Held his arms in a cross formation. He wasn't sure if it work but it was worth a shot. The man grinned as he continued to approach the wounded man, ripping his arm away from his other, and dragging Grant to the floor. He laughed maliciously, as Grant grunted in pain, his body hitting the stone cold ground.

"You are so weak!" The man smiled, holding Grant to the ground, placing his foot on his abdomen.

The brown leather boot, on a normal day would have looked good and fashionable, however Grant could only see it as crushing doom. He placed his arms on the over powering foot pushing up with all his might. He could feel the tight stitches on his shoulder tearing his flesh as he tried to lift the foot on his torso.

"Oh, so powerless! You worm!" The vampire laughed ominously.

Grant took a deep breath, the witch's words running in his mind wildly. He looked by the bed post for anything he could use to get free.

Nothing.

Grant had to improvise. He slammed his fist into the vampires knee cap. A hiss came from the blood sucker as he let up enough pressure for Grant to roll away. Grant quickly got to his feet, glancing at his sword across the room.

"You'll never reach it, maggot!"

Grant didn't reply. Knowing he was in trouble. Was this what the witch ment? Was this the undead attacking the great Mother Land? The vampire cocked his head, leaning it to the side, as if inspecting Grant.

They both stood still, Grant unsure what to do, and the vampire amused.

"Do you fear me?" The yellow teeth showing with the grin.

"No, I hate you. I'm going kill you"

"You, kill me? I'm already dead."

The vampire threw a fist at Grants head. Grant dodged, using his muscle memories. His bare chest moving as he grabbed the vampire's arm, and slamming in his elbow. Another hiss could be heard as the vampire's bone could be seen through his arm. Grant took advantage of the moment, slamming the heel of his foot hard into the already injured knee cap of the vampire.

The vampire strikes back slashing at Grant's face. His long jagged nails left scratch marks across the knight's face, blood gushing from his face. The tongue of his enemy grabbed Grant holding him still long enough for him to lick the man's wound.

Grant shivered, as the canines came closer for a bite. He quickly kneed the blood sucker in the belly. In reaction, the vampire up chucked it's last meal all over Grant. Blood pool rd over the man with bial, the smell was like non other. Grant was so horrified by the pear smell along, not to mention the feeling of the sticky liquid all over his body. He felt as if he would never be clean again.

Grant ignored every instinct in his body telling himself to wipe his body off from the unpleasantness. He struggled to make a move, hesitating his next action. it was too late, the vampire biting into his right arm. Grant yelled, instantly becoming enraged.

He wrapped his arm around the vampires neck, remembering his Hema. It took only seconds for the struggling vampire to lay relaxed in Grant's arms. The satisfy popping sound of a broken neck echoed in the stone room.

Grant looked up at his should stitches, now loose and torn from the fight. He was bleeding again. He hadn't realized how much pain he was feeling until after his body relaxed. He took a deep and painful breath, smelling the nasty blood covering his body. He looked at the bucket of water they were using on him early, splashing it over his body, rising some of the blood from his skin. Next he started down at the bite Mark from the vampire, legend told that those bitten by a vampire where doomed to the same fate. Was he really going to burn in Helm with that witch? Grant would be damned if he did.

"No rest", Grant started with a puff of breath in between, "for the weary."

He stood up, looking at each body on the floor. One was a fellow knight, the other, the demon, the vampire. Grant stumbled his way out side
looking out at the check point. All the guard's laid dead. with little sign of struggle. It was a massacre. Pools of blood by every body. Grant's wet body had a reflective glare from a fire out above, help was on the way.

He could already hear the trotting of a small army if horses. It took only kitties for the men to come into view as Grant started up at them. Grant rubbed his lip, blood sticking to his finger. His eyes widened as the men pointed their weapons at him.

A knight hesitated as he spoke, "Grant Smith, under the order and law, you are hear by sentenced to death by fire, for the act of vamprism."

Grant recognized the voice, it was Rick Harrison, his blood brother.

"Rick I didn't do this. You have to believe me!" Grant pleaded.

"Even so, you have been, " Rick swallowed, "Infected by the devils curse."

Grant looked at his arm, cussing.

"It's only a legend!" Grant screamed as two men dismounted their horses, and folded his arms behind his back.

Grant gave little resistance, as they tide his hands.

"I wish there was another way." Rick replied, through his armor.

Grant closed his eyes, think of Rick. He was a tall man with Brown hair and blue eyes He had a slightly amber beard well groomed following his jaw line. His hair on his head flowed back to the bottoms of his neck in a neat wave. He had high check bones and a strong body.

"Rick, can I at least see her before my execution?"

"I'll see what i can do." Rick replied.

He was a very merciful and compassionate man. If not for all the witnesses, Rick might have let him go, telling him to run far away, or taken his wound and bandaged it so none could see. He was a very sentimentally man. Grant was glad he could call him friend. The both were trained under the sane Sir as boys. and while arrivals, their friendship always came first. Rick was the better of the two, which was why he excelled to a higher commanding rank. Grant would never forget the joyful memories he had with Rick. The sword duels, the jousting, the ballroom dances. They shared everything together. Grant now felt the bitter taste of betrayal. Of all the people, Rick finding him in this state hurt the most. He was the man Grant trusted most.

"Very well." Grant said sternly, "Take me to Hell boys."
