Chapter 15
The hammer swung back as the giant slender figure walked through the door. Grant took the blow with his shield, flying into the wall to the right. The wood splintered, warping from the pressure.
Grant fell to his knee. The pain the knight felt was hard to describe. His body was sore head to toe and hadn't recovered completely from it's wounds. His recent wounds had broke and Sir Smith could feel his warm blood dripping from his shoulder and torso.
The long slender figure stood about seven feet tall, the darkness warping the once normal man. His armor covering his body, protecting it from an average blow by the sword.
Grant's arm laid on his knee as the hammer came swiftly up, ready to come down. A knife came swiftly by, the blade piercing the neck of the twisted fiend. The body fell to the floor, dissipating into the air.
The male figure stood tall, it was none other then Henry Jones. The man stroked his beard. Dropping the knife into his satchel.
"Well, this is a suprise! Grant Smith." The alchemist said, helping Grant to his feet.
"What are you doing here?" Grant coughed.
"Scavenging. I needed food and supplies." Jones replied.
"I won't ask what" Grant replied, as Henry laid Grant on his bed.
"Rest warrior." Henry said placing his hand on Grant's breast plate to get him to lie down.
"I can't," Grant resisted, "I need to find Elizabeth!"
"Fine," Henry replied, "Drink this, it will make you feel better. Like before."
"No what are you doing!" Ruth shouted, "He needs to rest!"
Grant quickly took the small flask, chugging the material. His eyes became heaven as he soon passed out. Henry smiled up at Ruth.
"Of course lass. That's what he's going to do."
Ruth roled her eyes. Henry seemed like a creepy old man. She didn't like him at all and that was why she was going to kill him.
"Here are some potions to give Grant once he awakens. They will help with pain and the healing. Take the white substance for pain, and the blue for healing. Understood?" Henry questioned.
Ruth smiled, "Of course."
"Well then, I'll be off." Henry said, returning the smile.
The middle-aged man started off, as he began to walk down the stairs. Ruth followed him, her concealed dagger hidden in her dress. He turned around, giving her a nod, before turning around to open up the door.
When the door had barely swung open, a dagger ran across his throat. His blood poored on the cement stairs, Ruth's dagger wet. The blonde woman smiled, and gave a soft giggle as she watched the man choke on his blood. She found it so obviously amusing.
She was the advocate of Grant's little ol' friend, the witch, Jessica. Grant knew so little, it was amusing. She loved watching him struggle for breathe in his sleep. She wanted to strangle the man, but was under orders not to.
Ruth opened her hand with a cut, as her blood poured over Henry a Jones's. A star was made over and across the dead body.
"I offer this sacrifice to the witch, Jessica Bloom. May my blood, and the blood of the one dead appease your soul." Ruth chanted.
"And your sacrifice is appeasing." a man's voice spat back.
An apparition of the dead woman appeared before Ruth. She was the same woman she had know for four years, Jessica. Ruth had released animals called hyenas, on Grant's company of knight, in attempt to free Jessica.
The blonde woman had been after revenge the moment she watched Grant chop off Jessica's head. She had seen her black hair get tangled as her skull roled on. The blood made his blade wet.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't my darling Ruth. You beckoned?" The witch said.
"Jessica, what is our plan? Grant is succeeding. He must be stopped, let me slit his throat!" Ruth replied.
"Our Lord has given me Grant's life. You have nothing to worry about, my dear Ruth. He will fail, he will die. With his death will come my revival."
"My patients is growing thin. I play a helpless fool, useless of all actions. Must I stay this way for long? Must I play the fool for years on end?"
Jessica giggled, "You're so cute when you are upset. A year is too long even for my taste."
Ruth became frustrated at her mistress, how could she be so lenient and laxed?
"What of your resurrection?" Ruth said with gritted teeth.
"I will take the one he loves, and we will become one." Jessica said with a smile.
Ruth couldn't help but to return the action. Taking those Grant loved most seemed like the perfect plan. This vendetta would be paid in full.
"Now be gone, my servant, for your enduring pleaseth me." Jessica said smiling, as her apparition faded.
Ruth couldn't help but chuckle from Jessica's awe-striking plan.
Grant stirred in his sleep ignorant of the trials comming his way. Simply healing from his temporary wounds.
