Chapter 12 A Date and A Question

Time skip...

Three years later, I wore a white and green two-toned dress. I met him at the bridge like the note said too. I heard footsteps approach me. I smiled when I saw Nathan standing there. "Emma, you came!' He squealed. "Yes, why wouldn't I, boyfriend?" I teased him.

We stood on the bridge and shared fruit, a biscuit, and a cookie. Then, Nathan held out a box while he bent on one knee.

"Nathan?" I muttered. I put my hands over my mouth in surprise. I had no idea.

He smiles. "We have been best friends since sixth grade, and as girlfriend and boyfriend for three years, so Emma Rose Agreste will you marry me?" I felt tears of happiness fall as it all sunk in.

"Yes, Nathan Lahaffe, I will," I kissed him as he put a ring on my finger. The ring sealed the deal that made me his finance.

I kissed him again. I did not care when the hair clips came loose. I was soon -to be Mrs. Lhaffe, and the thought made me so happy.

"Whoot, way to go son," Nino says. "Yes, you got her," Alya says.

The two of us blushed.  "Your hair is cute up, but even cuter loose," Nathan said.

I heard people cheering as we left the bridge. I turned to see a small crowd had gathered nearby. I smiled when I saw it was my mom and dad, Nathan's cousin, Janice, and Madison, whom I had not seen in a long time.

"Madison, you are here, girl!" I squealed and hugged her.

"Yes, I would not miss out on my bestie's engagement for anything she said."

"How did you even know?" I asked. "Well, Nathan's dad called me and I came over as soon as I got a plane, Madison said.

I smiled, I knew her parents were loaded being the retired mayor's daughter, and a famous artist.  I saw someone stand a bit to the side and hug her too. I knew it was Katharine, but I wanted her to know, there are no hard feelings between us.

Nathan, his mom and dad, my parents, Janice, Madison, Katharine, and I went out for frozen yogurt to celebrate.  Nathan paid for everyone except for Madison who insisted she paid for hers.  I got my usual strawberry swirl with coconut and a cherry, Nathan got his usual chocolate with sprinkles,  Janice had an orange swirl, Katharine had the cherry tang, Nino and Alya both had cherry with m & m's which they shared, and my parents had Lime which they shared. Madison's was a mix of strawberry swirl, orange swirl, and lime.

Anyway, the yogurt was great as usual. I did not even mind that the others barged in on our date since we were engaged and it seemed appropriate to celebrate something this big with family and friends.

"So, what dress will you wear for the wedding?" Madison asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. I had not gone dress shopping yet. Why would I? I had no idea I was getting engaged today until it happened. By now I had finished high school and so had Nathan, and Katharine. I was glad that things worked out as well as they had.  I supposed I had Jake to think about that since he was the one who dumped me. Yes, being dumped turned out to be good for me because it drew me closer to Nathan, the guy I was meant to be with and here I am engaged.

The others left early to give Nathan and me time alone. Madison was the last to leave after she gave me one more hug. "Girl, text me. I want to come to the wedding, Bestie." I agreed to it.

"Madison is a bit of a wild personality to suit my taste," Nathan said after she had left. "But I suppose since it is clear she has no interest in me she can come to the wedding," He added.

I smiled and held his hand.  "Nathan, this day just keeps getting better and better," I said.

The two of us had taken a few classes online for college. I had finished enough courses to begin my sophomore year of college. Wow, in a few years, I will graduate with my dream major, graphic design, and a minor in botany.  Nathan planned to get a degree as a mechanic.  I was fine with that because I knew he was great with cars.  Speaking of cars, he had one more surprise up his sleeve.

"Come on, my beautiful, fiance,  I have one more thing to show you," Nathan said. I followed him back to my place.  I glanced at him in confusion, and he laughed. "Turn around, " He told me.

I did and that was when I saw it. It was this cute pink car with light blue streaks down the sides. "Nathan, you got me a car?" I asked. "Yes, darling, I sure did. I thought it was about time you had a new one," He explained. He handed me the keys.

I  drove the two of us around the block and back again. I hugged him after I finished parking it. "Thanks, Nathan, I love it."  "Should I be jealous of the car now, buttercup?" He asked. "No way, sugar bear, because I love you, way more than my car," I said.

"How did you manage to find it in pink?" I asked. "I had a bit of help from your mom," Nathan told me. I smirked. "Oh, how thoughtful of you, sugar bear," I said. He laughed. I laughed.

Nathan kissed me and went home. I  entered my place with this big dopey smile on my face. Yes, I was a new woman. I was engaged and I had a new car. Good day, talk about some nice things coming my way.
