Seven

"Achoo!" I sneeze into my blanket. My heads pounding and I was dripping in a cold sweat.

"Hey, sweetie. You okay?" My dad asks, stepping into my room. I shake my head.

"I feel like crap..." I reply, my voice hoarse.

"Had too much fun with your boyfriend last night?" He questions, raising a brow. Heat rushes to my cheeks. How did he find out?

"N-No..." I mumble back, crossing my arms.

"Sure... Anyway, I'll have mom call the school to let them know you're not going to be there. Will you be okay home alone?"

"Mhmm." I reply, sinking back into my covers. He bends down and kisses my head before leaving me alone. Before I could go back to bed, my phone starts to ring. I lazily pick it up and put it up to my ear.

"Hey, (Y/N)." It was Makoto.

"Oh. Hi, Mako..." I mumble, almost falling asleep.

"Haru and I are about to head over to your house to pick you up. Are you ready?" He asks.

"About that..." I mumble, sitting up. "I'm sick... I'm not going to be in school."

"Are you okay?" He frantically asks, concern fills his voice.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I just need rest." I mumble back.

"Okay, well, I hope you feel better."

"Thanks. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone and went to sleep.

*Time skip*

I wake up to my door bell ringing. I grumble as I walk up to the door. I open it and see Makoto.

"Makoto...?" I mumble, tilting my head.

"Hello (Y/N)-chan. I'm sorry to wake you up." He apologizes, scratching the back of his head. I notice that he has a bag of produce in his other hand.

"What're you doing here? Remember I'm sick?" I say and soon after, I cough.

"That's exactly why I came. I notice that your parents are gone and you're here alone so, I hope you don't mind but, I-I'd like to take care of you..." Makoto rambled, the tips of his ears turn a bright red. My already flushed face, heats up even more.

"I-I don't need a babysitter..." I stutter, avoid his forest-like eyes.

"I insist. It's only fair that I return the favor." He states with a chuckle.

"Favor?" I question, trying to figure out what he was getting at.

"Yup! Remember when we were kids and how you took care of me when I had the flu?"

The memory suddenly returns to my head.

*Flashback*
(Twelve)

"Can Makoto come out, Mrs. Tachibana? (In Japan, I'm not too sure what people refer to their friends parents as (like San or something) so, I'll just do Mrs/Mr). I asks, looking up at the woman. She frowns a bit.

"Oh, I'm sorry (Y/N)-chan. Makoto is sick with the flu." She says, sadness in her voice. Disappointment washes over me.

"I see..." I mumble. Before saying bye and walking away, an idea popped in my head. "Hey, maybe I can help you take care of him? I'm practically immune to all sicknesses so, I won't get the flu! Please! I really want to hang out with Makoto!" I practically beg. Mrs. Tachibana chuckles at my excitement.

"Well, I do have to run to the store to get medicine for him. You can watch him until I return." She gives in. After ruffling my hair, she lets me into her home and leaves. According to her, Mr. Tachibana took the twins out so they don't get sick. I assume Makoto is in his room so, I made my way upstairs. I open his door slowly and see that he is wrapped in a blanket like a cocoon on his bed.

"Makoto...?" I question aloud, my voice sweet as honey.

"Mom...?" His voice calls out. I giggle.

"Nope." I laugh, I walk over to his bed. He then jolts up, finally registering that I'm here. His whole face turns beet red.

"(Y-Y/N)-chan... What're you doing here?" He asks, sitting up.

"Your mom left and she allowed me to look after you until she gets back." I explain, taking a seat next to him on his bed.

"I-I don't need a babysitter..." He mumbles quietly. His face is really red so, I place my hand on his forehead, moving his olive hair out of the way for better access. He tenses up at my touch.

"You feel really warm..." I murmur, feeling bad for my friend. I remove my hand. "Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?"

"Um, n-no... I don't think so." He says, not really looking at me. "I'm just really cold..." I get up from his bed and go into his closet. Makoto just sat quietly in his bed, looking at me. In his closet, I found a big fuzzy, (f/c) blanket. I walk up to him and place the blanket on him.

"Better?" I asks, sitting down on the bed again.

"Yeah. Thank you." He says, a small smile on his face. He lets out a yawn.

"Tired?" I question, obviously knowing the answer.

"Yeah, just a little." He answers, rubbing his apple green eyes. I've always thought his eyes were so pretty. Whenever I stare at them, it's like I'm looking into a beautiful forest. I snap myself out of my daze when I hear a light snore. It appears Makoto has fallen asleep. I smile. He looks so cute when he's sleep... I blush, did I just call him cute...? Upon looking at him, I let out a yawn.

"I guess I'm tired, too..." I say to myself. Not wanting to leave Makoto alone, just in case he woke up and needed something, I lay down next to him in the bed, my face facing away from his... I'm blushing so hard, I'm afraid my face will melt off, it was so hot... It's okay, we're friends, so it's nothing wrong with me being in the same bed as him, right? He's so close to me. I can literally feel his breath on the back of my neck. My eyes start to close and I fall asleep before I could second guess this situation ...

*End of flashback*

I blush at the memory... Little did I know at the time, Makoto's mom found us like that when she got home, and she took a picture of us sleeping together. In the picture, Makoto had his arm around me. We were basically cuddling... As a matter of fact, I was given that picture before I moved by Makoto's mother...

"Oh yeah...." I mumble. "I didn't really take care of you... I just gave you a blanket..." I mumble, looking down

"That's true but, I'd still like to take care of you." Makoto insists. He gives me one of his charming smiles that makes my heart skip a beat.

"Fine..." I mumble, opening the door allowing for the tall man to enter my home.

"I hope you're hungry." Makoto says, taking of his shoes. My stomach growls as soon as he says that. "I'll take that as a yes?"

*Time Skip*

"I'm so sorry, (Y/N)!" Makoto apologized for the millionth time. I guess he isn't the best cook. He tried making us miso soup... Instead he almost started my kitchen on fire... (A/N: Me honestly... I can't even heat up a TV dinner without it burning...). We ended up just sitting down on the couch in the living room, relaxing and eating left over soup from the night before.

"Again, it's fine." I say with a reassuring smile. I think it's cute that he's so apologetic.

"Maybe Haru should be here, not me... He probably would make you something delicious." Makoto chuckles. I shake my head.

"Nope. I fine with you." I say, laughing just a bit. For some reason, what I said made Makoto face turn a slight shade of red.

"A-Anyway..." He says, trying to change the subject. "Why do you have Haru's sweatshirt? I hope you didn't sneak into his room and took it." I look down at what I'm wearing. I guess I'm still wearing his sweatshirt...

"No." I laugh. "He gave it to me last night when..." I stop talking, remembering what happened last night... I want to tell Makoto... I really do... I don't want to be a person that keeps my feelings away from people.

"You don't have to tell me if it's hard for you...." Makoto says, gazing into my eyes. I shake my head.

"No... I do..." I let out a sigh. "Last night, I called Haru to ask him for a favor. That favor was to help me swim again... It didn't go so well... I just froze up... I couldn't even get in the damn pool... I made a fool of myself... I'm so stupid to think that I could swim again... I-" Makoto interrupts me.

"You're not stupid." His voice calm as ever. I start to tear up. Slowly, his hand makes it way up to my face. Using his thumb, he wipes away the tear that was about to stream down my cheek.

"But, I couldn't do it... I-" Once again, I was interrupted.

"And that's okay." Makoto firmly says. He places his large hand on my shoulder in a reassuring matter. "Look... Want to know something about me?"

"Of course." I say, my tears drying.

"I have a fear, similar to yours. I have a fear of the ocean. I sort of gotten over it not too long ago but, it still scares me...  So, just know you're not alone." He whispered. I stare into his green eyes, captivated by his words... My eyes travel down to his lips. I have a very strong urge to kiss him... It's funny... Makoto was actually my first kiss...

*Another Flash Back* (Twelve again)

It's Christmas and it was a pretty nervous time. My parents decided to host a Christmas party for all our friends. I guess it's a good thing that their friends are the parents of mine, which includes Makoto, Haruka, and Nagisa. Rin would be here too but he's overseas. However his mom and his sister are here. I forgot his sisters name because, I don't really know her...  Anyway, I was locked up in my room, fiddling with a snowman necklace I'm wearing. Parties aren't really my forte. Though, this isn't a party party, more like a small get together, I'm still nervous. I hear a knock at my door.

"(Y/N)-chan? You in there? Hurry! We're all bored!" Nagisa asks. I let out a sigh. I get up from my bed and open the door. Nagisa smiles, he was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater of a reindeer. I fake a smile.

"Hey, Nagisa."

"Everyone's waiting for you downstairs! Let's go!" He happily says. He grabs my hand and lead me to our friends. Haru and Makoto were talking amongst each other until they say us.

"Hey, (Y/N)-chan." Makoto says, smiling.

"Hi." Haru simply says. I nod at their greeting. The parents were in the dining room, probably drinking adult beverages as Christmas music played. Already, my anxiety was bothering me. I wonder where Rin's sister is? Probably with her mom, not really having anybody to talk to.

The guys and I decided to play truth or dare. Stupid thing to play but, there was nothing really else to do.

"Truth or dare.... (Y/N)!" Nagisa asks, pointing a finger at me. Playing this game with Nagisa sounds like a bad idea...

"Truth." I mumble, sacred to pick dare.

"Is it true that you have a crush on someone?" He asks, raising a brow. Makoto and Haru suddenly have their full attention on me. I had to think for a moment. Do I have a crush... I honestly don't know...

"I-I don't know..." I mumble, a bit embarrassed at the question. Nagisa sighs in defeat. "Okay, um... Makoto..." I look at the olive-haired boy. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare." He chuckles. I was a bit surprised about his response.

"Um... I dare you to... impersonate someone in this room... Then we'll guess who you are." I say, kind of hating this lame dare. Makoto nods.

"What's up sluts? Guess who just got outta prison!" He says in a thug like voice.

A/N: Totally kidding!!! (^ω^)Just wanted to make a reference....

"Um, okay.... I only swim freestyle..." He says in a rather low monotone voice. Ha, this is obvious.

"Haru." Nagisa and I say at the same time. We look at each other and laugh.

*Time skip*

After getting dared to do stupid things by Nagisa, I step outside on my balcony. My anxiety was getting worse, I need to be alone for a bit. I hear the sliding glass door open. It was Makoto.

"Hey, (Y/N)-chan. Is everything alright?" He asked, walking over and standing next to me, looking out ahead like I was doing.

"You don't have to use 'chan.'" I say, avoiding his question.

"Don't want to talk about it?" He questions. It's like he can see right through me. I sigh.

"Not really... Just my anxiety... I don't know... It's hard to explain..." I state, shrugging.

"I can leave you alone if you want?"
He asks, genuinely looking concerned. I shake my head.

"You don't have to." I say, looking up at him. However, my eyes travel up to the ceiling of the balcony. There, a mistletoe is perfectly attached to a string that's pinned to the ceiling... My face goes completely red. Makoto tilts his head and looks at what I'm staring at... His face turns redder than mine...

"A-A mistletoe?" He stutters. I guess he knows about the tradition of kissing someone under the mistletoe... He looks down at me, nervousness in his eyes.

"That's awkward..." I mumble, remembering who exactly put it up... My mom did, hoping I'd get a kiss from one of my 'little boyfriends' as she claimed.

"Boo!"

Before I could say more, the person pushes Makoto into me. We were in the perfect position for our lips to instantly collide. Despite the hard push, his lips softly went over mine. I quickly pull away, my face hotter than fire. I look behind Makoto and see Nagisa laughing. Makoto turns around.

"Nagisa!" Makoto and I yell in sync.

"That was priceless! Am I right, Haru-chan?" He asks. I look over behind him and see Haru. He has his normal stoic face but, behind his blue eyes, all I see is hurt for some reason. He then just walks away without saying anything... That was weird. More importantly though...

"Nagisa! How dare you!" You exclaim, walking over to the blond boy.

"Wait up Haru!" He stammers, running after him.

"I-I'm gonna go too..." Makoto stutters, stepping past me and running to the others... I sigh. I bring up fingers to my lips, still feeling Makoto's lips on them. I blush..

*End of Flash back*

"Hello, (Y/N)?" Makoto says, waving his hand in front of my face. I shake my head, snapping out of my daze.

"S-Sorry..." I mumble, turning red from the silly memory.

"Anyway, as I was saying." He says, gaining back my attention. "It's okay to be afraid."

"I guess, you're right... But I still feel stupid not being able to swim... I want to, I really do... I-I just can't." I say, sighing at the end.

"Then let me help you..." He whispers quietly. I tilt my head. His face turns a shade of red. "N-Not just me... Nagisa, Haru, and Rin. Even Rei will help you."

"Okay... I'm okay with trying again..." I say, an ever so small smile on my face. Makoto smiles too.

"That's what I love most about you; you're determination..." He says, not making eye contact with me.

Love?

Before Makoto could stutter out more nonsense, the front door opens. In comes my parents. They stop dead in their tracks once they notice Makoto and I.

"Oh my gosh, (Y/N)! You snuck in a boyfriend! I thought you were sick!" My mom exclaims, trying to contain her giggles. My dad just sternly looks at Mako. Do they not remember him? I stand up from the couch.

"Mom! Dad! This is Tachibana Makoto. Remember? My old friend... Not boyfriend..." I claim, crossing my arms. Both of their faces lighten up. Makoto stands up and bows a bit.

"Good evening, Mr and Mrs (L/N). I'm sorry for coming to your home unannounced but, I just wanted to see how your daughter was feeling." He says. Aw, he's so polite!

"Aw! Mako-Chan!" My mother squeals. She turns to me. "He's just as adorable as I remember!"

"Mom!" I shout, getting extremely embarrassed.

"You're welcome anytime, Tachibana-San." My fathers says, placing a hand on his shoulder. At least he isn't as embarrassing. Before my mom or dad could say more, I grab Makoto's hand.

"Time to go." I murmur. Makoto and I quickly put on our shoes and walked out the door.

"I'm sorry about them..." I say, blushing.

"No. I-It's okay." He says, he was blushing too. "I should get going. My mom is probably worried about me."

"Okay. I'll probably be at school tomorrow so, you can stop on by with Haru." I say, smiling.

"O-Okay." Makoto says, his face still red. We stood there in silence before something brushes over my cheek. Makoto softly plants his lips on my cheek, instantly making my face go red again. "Feel better. Bye, (Y/N)-chan!"

I didn't say anything as I watch him leave. I stood there shell shocked, touching my cheek, still feeling his touch.... My heart is beating so fast....

Now my feelings are even more complicated...
