Chapter 6
"So he was flirting with you while fighting?" I watched Rose, my new partner my mother so graciously assigned me to. Nodding my head I threw another punch towards her face but she dodged it before throwing a punch to her left side. I groaned at the contact before straightening myself up. My feral was lending me her strength as she helped guide my next moves.
"Come on Calore, I know you got it in you to take me down." She was also a fierce warrior who has fought for the pack countless times. I remember taking her down once when she let her guard down, she never made that mistake again. I smirked as I kicked her in the stomach, pushing her back enough to strike her against the face. Her head whipped to the side as her hair covered her face.
I don't normally take sparring to another level, but when it comes to her she has no problem with embracing the pain. The pain was what kept us going, allowed us to not get caught up in the emotions such as humans. "Come on Rose, I know you can beat my ass. So what's holding you back?" I groaned as she hit me in the face, a metallic taste filling my mouth.
I didn't notice my eyes were closed because when I opened then I was once again staring at the ceiling and a now smirking Rose. "You got cocky Calore," She pushed her hand out for me to take, I smiled at her, feeling the blood roll down the sides of my mouth. "I guess I got kinda carried away." She shook her head at me. "You can't get carried away on the battlefield, you need to focus more when I tell you to."
I nodded as I spit the blood gathering in my mouth in the bucket next to our mat. There was one at each mat for those like me who were getting their ass kick by their opponents. I never had a problem with Rose beating me because she never bragged like the other ones. Everyone else liked to rub it in and then I have no other choice but to show them who is the stronger wolf. I don't get cocky with anyone else except for Rose. She knew when to put me in my place when it was needed.
It's how we worked.
"Elyze! Malik!"
I guess my siblings finally made it to practice, though they are 2 hours late. I turned my head away because I wasn't about to get caught up with them getting in trouble. My mother would try to loop me in somehow and ground me, I was not having any of that.
"Zoy," I thanked the goddess when Jessica entered our mat. I was grateful she was able to occupy me so my mother doesn't have any other choice but to punish them alone. "I guess the trouble makers are in for a real treat this time." I shrugged my shoulders, as long as I wasn't getting yelled out I didn't care all that much. "They shouldn't have been late to training, they were there this morning when mom made the plans."
She crossed her arms as she leaned against the wall. I followed her gaze to none other Shane. I rolled my eyes, I couldn't understand why she didn't just confess her love for him. She clearly had a crush on him and he had a crush on her. So what was the problem?
"We have mates out there Zoyanna. That's what the problem is." I glared at her as I reached out to pinch her. I didn't care when she yelped as she rubbed her arm. She was also in my head and it was so annoying. "Dammit Jessica, leave me alone to my thoughts. We've discussed this already, I let it slid earlier but you need to stay the hell out of my thoughts."
She never let me think on my own, I get we were best friends but damn. "Sorry," She muttered her cheeks aflame. "I didn't mean to raise my voice love." She was unresponsive as she stared ahead, I guess we weren't on speaking turns for the time being. I didn't exactly mind it seeing as I was able to finally think without her intrusive eyes, I love her don't get me wrong.
"Guys come on, I need you guys to put on your best faces." Shane voice once again intruded our space for a second time in the row today. "Okay is there something going on with you guys? You're both ways to quiet." I didn't waste another second letting him continue. "Shane drop it will you?" For once he could not act like an asshole and just do what I said.
"What are we doing?" Jessica spoke up, her voice soft as she looked at Shane. He looked between us once again before continuing on with whatever he had to say when he first walked over here. "Well we have a pack coming, now my father ordered that we all be there. We are all the next in line for the new command. I need you guys to fix whatever is going on between you guys."
"I just need her to stay out of my head."
"Well maybe if you weren't so damn loud with your thoughts I could stay out of them." I glared at her. "So you're blaming me for you being in my thoughts?" I couldn't believe her, she was always doing this. "It's not that hard for you to just put up a wall so your thoughts can stick to your own head and not wander into mines."
I sighed rubbing my forehead I could feel a headache coming on. "Look I don't have time for this, we don't have time for this. Let's just put a pin in it for tonight so we can get through the meeting with the other pack." She looked at me for a second before nodding her head. With that settled we turned our attention to Shane who was staring at the two of us as we had just grown three heads each.
"Close your mouth Shane," I said as I started walking away. "Don't want any flies flying in there."
