Chapter 76 - Guys & Gals
Erin & Carmen
With their breakfast plates cleared and coffee downed, Erin jingled her keys, smirking at Carmen.
"Come on," she said. "Girls' day. Let's hit your favourite body shop."
Carmen's eyes sparkled instantly. "Oh, you just made my whole week."
The guys were still finishing up their drinks, but Erin and Carmen had a mission. As they stepped outside, Erin unlocked her Silvia, the familiar beep echoing in the morning air.
Sliding into the driver's seat, Erin watched as Carmen climbed in, already pulling up notes on her phone. "Alright, so we need materials for the M3's new look, ghost accents for the Skyline, and maybe some metallics if I find something fun."
Erin grinned. "You act like we're not gonna end up buying twice that."
Carmen shrugged unapologetically. "That's the risk of taking me to a bodywork shop, babe."
Erin laughed, shifting into gear as they pulled out of the café lot. "Let's go spend too much money."
Dax, Jinx & Rev
Jinx watched the Silvia pull away, then turned to Dax and Rev, smirking. "Alright, since the girls are ditching us, we're having a guys' day."
Dax raised an eyebrow. "Define 'guys' day'."
Jinx grinned mischievously. "You remember how we used to just do shit in our early twenties? No plans, no stress? Just dumb, reckless fun?"
Rev, leaning against the hood of his car, smirked. "You mean when we were broke and living off ramen?"
Jinx waved him off. "Yeah, but fun broke. Not actual broke."
Dax exhaled, crossing his arms. "So what, you wanna relive the old days? Just be idiots for a few hours?"
Jinx grinned. "Yes. Exactly that."
Rev tilted his head. "Define 'idiots'."
Jinx wiggled his eyebrows. "Street karting. Barbecue. Maybe some betting on dumb shit."
Dax raised an eyebrow. "Did you just say 'street karting'?"
Jinx grinned. "Yeah. I know a guy."
Rev sighed. "Of course you do."
Dax glanced at Rev. "You in?"
Rev took a sip of his coffee, weighing his options. Then he nodded. "Screw it. Let's do it."
Jinx fist-pumped. "Hell yes."
And just like that, the guys had their own reckless, slightly stupid plan. Because if the girls could have fun, so could they.
Erin & Carmen
The Silvia rumbled into the parking lot of Carmen's favourite bodywork shop, pulling into a space near the front. From the outside, it looked like nothing special, a wide, warehouse-style building with a simple metal sign above the entrance. But Erin knew better. This place was gold.
Inside was a treasure trove of every visual mod you could possibly imagine. It wasn't like the usual performance parts warehouses, no engine bays, no drivetrain components. This was purely paint, wraps, carbon fibre pieces, body kits, light mods, and anything that made a car or bike look as insane as it performed.
As Erin killed the engine, Carmen was already practically buzzing with excitement. "Oh, I've been waiting for this all week." She swung the door open, grabbing her phone. "We're gonna be here for hours, you know that, right?"
Erin grinned, stepping out. "I planned my whole day around it."
The two walked through the automatic doors, immediately hit with the scent of fresh paint, rubber, and something faintly chemical. It was a car customiser's dream.
The place was huge, organised like a proper parts warehouse but instead of engine components, there were rows upon rows of different paint cans, wrap samples, spray guns, pre-cut vinyl, and entire shelves dedicated to carbon fibre spoilers, wide-body fenders, and LED mods.
A few workers were loading up massive paint barrels onto carts, while others were handling custom orders from customers walking around with shopping lists.
Carmen sighed dramatically, hands on her hips. "Where do we even start?"
Erin smirked. "You're the expert. Lead the way."
Carmen grinned, immediately dragging her toward the wrap and paint section.
A long wall of colour samples stretched across the aisle, every imaginable shade in gloss, matte, satin, metallic, and pearlescent finishes. Small square plates displayed each colour under different lighting angles, showing how they'd shift.
Carmen ran her fingers across the samples, muttering to herself. "Alright, if we're redoing the M3, we want something fresh, bold but clean..."
Erin folded her arms, tilting her head as she looked over the options. "I'm leaning toward ghost details again. Maybe something like the R34, but more subtle."
Carmen nodded, flipping through sample books. "What if we did pearlescent ghost accents in a deep silver or dark gunmetal base?"
Erin's eyes lit up. "That would look insane under track lights."
Carmen pulled two colour swatches, one a matte deep silver and another a faintly iridescent gunmetal. "These would be perfect for a base. Then we layer the ghost designs with a barely visible pearl effect."
Erin nodded. "Alright, let's do it."
Carmen grinned, grabbing a few cans of the base coat and accent sprays.
"And now, for the Skyline."
Carmen led them to another section where pre-cut vinyl and detailing materials were stocked. This area was more for accents and precision work rather than full-body paint jobs.
Erin tapped her chin. "I don't wanna change too much, but I like the idea of making the lightning details even more ghosted. Something that only really pops at night."
Carmen smirked, grabbing a roll of UV-reactive pearl vinyl. "This. It's almost invisible in the day, but under streetlights or track LEDs, the blue-white lightning will glow subtly."
Erin grinned. "That's perfect."
They tossed the vinyl onto their growing shopping cart.
Carmen, always one to push the envelope, dragged Erin toward the aero kit section.
Rows of carbon fibre spoilers, diffusers, canards, and even full wide-body kits were on display.
Carmen, arms crossed, looked between the parts and Erin's amused expression. "You're telling me you don't want to add anything aggressive to the M3?"
Erin smirked. "I mean, I could be convinced."
Carmen pointed at a sleek carbon fibre lip spoiler. "This. Small, clean, but gives the M3 just a bit more edge."
Erin tilted her head, considering it. "Alright, throw it in."
Carmen grinned. "I love being right."
The last stop was the lighting section. Custom LED kits, under-glows, interior ambient lighting, all the subtle but game-changing details.
Carmen picked up a set of laser-etched custom door sill plates.
Erin raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
Carmen grinned. "Your name in tiny, almost invisible etching that glows when the doors open."
Erin blinked. "Okay, that's actually sick."
Carmen smirked, adding it to the cart. "Told you."
By the time they reached checkout, their cart was full of paint cans, vinyl, lighting mods, carbon fibre accents, and small detailing pieces.
The worker behind the counter raised an eyebrow at the amount of product. "You two planning a full shop rebuild?"
Carmen grinned. "Nah, just two builds. And I'm gonna make them look insane."
Erin smirked, handing over her card. "Trust me, it'll be worth it."
The worker just chuckled, ringing up the order as the two girls grinned at their haul.
As they loaded everything into the Silvia's trunk and backseat, Carmen sighed happily.
"Damn, that was fun."
Erin smirked, starting the car. "Now let's go find out what kind of chaos the guys have gotten into."
Carmen laughed. "If Jinx is involved, it's probably stupid."
Erin grinned. "Even better."
With that, the Silvia roared to life, heading back toward home, loaded with upgrades, new ideas, and the promise of insane projects ahead.
