Chapter 105 - Moving Boxes

A few days later, Erin's apartment was chaos. Boxes stacked in the living room, random car parts scattered across the floor, a half-empty cup of coffee balancing precariously on top of a stack of books.

In the middle of it all was Carmen, sitting cross-legged on the couch, watching Erin stress-pack. "You know," Carmen said, picking up a stray spark plug from the coffee table, "for someone who's practically lived at Dax's for months, you sure own a lot of crap."

Erin huffed, tossing a folded hoodie into a box. "It didn't seem like a lot until I started packing."

Carmen smirked. "That's how it always goes."

Erin sat back on her heels, glancing around the apartment. "It's weird, though."

Carmen raised an eyebrow. "Weird how?"

Erin ran a hand through her hair. "I've moved around a lot, you know? Never really had a place that felt permanent. This one didn't either, but now that I'm leaving, it feels... different."

Carmen studied her for a moment, then smirked. "That's because this time, you're not just moving somewhere new. You're moving home."

Erin blinked.

Home. The word settled somewhere deep in her chest.

Dax's place wasn't just a house, it was him. And now it would be theirs.

Erin exhaled, nodding. "Yeah. I guess I am."

Carmen grinned. "Alright then. Let's get this done before you start getting all emotional on me."

Erin chuckled, rolling her eyes. "Fine, fine. Just start taping boxes, Navarro."

Carmen laughed, reaching for the packing tape. "Yes, ma'am."

A few hours later, after a full day of packing and a quick stop at the garage, Erin walked straight into a scene of absolute chaos.

Jinx was practically vibrating with excitement, pacing around a car in the centre of the shop.

Rev stood with his arms crossed, shaking his head with a smirk and a chuckle.

Dax, leaning against the whiteboard, looked like he was already regretting everything.

And Kane was standing by the office door, watching with amusement as Jinx practically worshipped the car in front of him.

"Oh, hell no," Erin said as she walked in. "What did I just walk into?"

Jinx whipped around, grinning. "Ace. Look at it."

Erin raised an eyebrow, finally taking in the car under the lights.

A fully stripped-down Nissan S15 Silvia sat there, primed for a full drift build.

Erin's eyebrows shot up. "Oh damn. That's your kind of car."

Jinx practically beamed. "Right?!"

Rev snorted. "It's like Christmas for him."

Dax sighed. "More like a headache for me."

Kane smirked, finally speaking. "I figured it was time to switch things up. All the high-end showroom builds are good for business, but the underground scene still matters. And I need a car that stands out."

"A drift build?" Erin mused, circling the S15.

Jinx nodded, already in love with it. "Not just any drift build. We're making this thing an absolute monster."

Dax ran a hand down his face. "And I just know he's gonna push for every ridiculous idea possible."

Jinx grinned. "Damn right."

Rev chuckled, leaning against the tool chest. "So what's the plan, boss?"

Dax sighed, glancing at the whiteboard. "We'll map it out. I don't want this turning into another free-for-all like last time."

Kane crossed his arms. "You've got free rein on how you build it. All I care about is that when it's done, it's untouchable."

Jinx nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, I got this."

Erin smirked. "Yeah, this is definitely gonna be chaos."

Dax groaned. "You have no idea."

An hour later, the whiteboard was filled with notes. Engine swaps, suspension setups, tyre choices, and everything in between.

Jinx was still bouncing on his heels, excitement barely contained.

Erin, arms crossed, looked over the board. "Alright, so we're talking high angle steering, lightweight frame, massive power. Who's tuning this thing?"

Rev raised a hand. "I'll handle that. Jinx is picking parts, but I'm making sure he doesn't go overboard."

Jinx pretended to be offended. "Overboard? Me?"

Dax gave him a flat look. "Yes. You."

Kane smirked, watching it all unfold. "I expect results. If you can build a supercar, you can sure as hell build a drift car."

Dax sighed. "Yeah, yeah. We got it."

Jinx grinned. "This is gonna be sick."

Erin smirked. "Alright, Grillmaster. Let's see if your skills under the hood match your skills on the barbecue."

Jinx grinned wider. "Oh, just wait, Calloway. I'm about to show you what real car magic looks like."

Erin chuckled, glancing at Dax. "This is gonna be fun."

Dax just groaned. "Yeah. For you maybe. For me? It's gonna be a nightmare."

Erin laughed, leaning into him slightly. "Oh, lighten up, Carter. You're just mad that Jinx is finally getting his moment."

Dax shook his head, but a small smirk tugged at his lips. Despite the chaos this build was going to bring? It was exactly what they needed. Something wild. Something fast. Something worth every second of effort.

And as Jinx practically bounced with excitement, Erin smiled.

This was why they did what they did.
