Chapter Six

I entered the cobblestone building with such clumsiness that one might have mistaken me for a flamingo on a sugar high. Dragon School. This was it.

I took a deep breath out and steeped through the gates and into the school. The hallways bustled with students.

Considering that they would not let you say goodbye to your parents, you would have thought that the school would have nicer facilities such as clean bathrooms, larger walkways, and, sadly, bodily fluid clean up.

I guess that the only way to get into Dragon School was by winning the fight that you had against your partner.

Oh! And don't even get me started on the stereotypes that were spawning in this very hallway! A group of girls in pink standing smack-dab in the middle of the hallway giggled and gossiped. And based on the fact that you had to win the fight to get here, they were probably really vicious.

I trudged past them, my gait tall, showing confidence, though inside I really wasn't confident. I couldn't let them see how I really was. You know how I feel.

Eventually, I reached the large cobblestone room that was the main room. Medieval bannered were draped evenly on the walls. Once every student had reached the main room, an elderly woman with gray hair wearing a red long dress that sleeves' touched the floor, strode onto an unusually high rise in the floor.

"Good afternoon students.", she whispered into the microphone. Her English accent was thick and strong, making some students snicker.

"I see that our diverse culture has surprised a few of you, hmm? Well, you should and will be forced to adapt to your new living conditions!", many of the students flinched as she said this.

"You're schedule, dormitory numbers, and partners will be listed in the white paper that you will receive from the two brown tables here and here.", she stated as she pointed to the left and right sides of the main room.

The students nodded their heads in understanding as they made their way towards the tables. "Farewell students.", said the elderly woman. The students flooded the tables and exited the room. I was the last one to grab my schedule before heading towards my dormitory.

Only the Lord knows who I was roomed with.
***************
I strutted through the threshold of the hallway, my feet apart and hands down. Passing by multiple draperies and banners, it seemed as though this was my home but not so compact within the copses of the deathly forest.

I continued towards my dorm, my stomach twisted. A girl my age was spread out on her bed reading a book. Her hair was a raven black, her eyes a piercing hazel, and her skin a pale color, much like mine. "Ugh! People!", she snarled as she glanced over at me. "Nice to see you too!", I replied sarcastically.

"And to be fair, I'm not a big fan of people either.", the girl smiled and turned her head back to her book before slamming it shut and climbing off of her bed. "The names' Kendra.", she said as she vigorously shook my hand.

"Oh. My names' Jovey.", I said in response. "You been here before?", I asked.

"Yeah. Once. My older brother said that it was really tough to get in and even tougher to get out.", she walked around the room, knocking on the walls. "Um..what are you doing?", I asked her.

"Checking the walls. You never know if they could collapse on you.", she replied. "But they're cobblestone. It would be hard to break.", I pushed my hands in the cold stone. "See.", I exclaimed.

She rolled her eyes and threw herself back onto her bed. "Don't care. Better safe than sorry."

A/N: Well, Kendra seems kind of crabby.

Now, Jovey has to live with that. Don't forget to vote and comment! Bye!!!
