Thirty Six

Virgil POV
I screamed as I fell through the portal and into the Pit.  I kept falling for what felt like minuets on end.  I couldn't see anything, just darkness.

I screamed, fear coursing through as I fell.  My legs and arms were flailing waiting for the impact.

Without warning, I slammed into water.  I gasped out, my mouth filling with water.  I struggled, trying to swim upwards.  But the impact had left me winded.

Out of nowhere, a hand grabbed the hood of my hoodie.  The person yanked me upwards and out of the water.  I gasped for breath, coughing up water.

The person threw me, causing me to land heavily against the ground.  I opened my eyes but I was extremely disoriented.  I kept coughing up water, my throat starting to hurt.

"Well, well, well...look what the cat dragged in."  Hissed a familiar voice.

"Wasn't expecting this piece of trash to get stuck here with us."  Agreed another familiar voice.  "Looks like his own plan backfired on him."

I turned once I stopped coughing.  I looked up to see Ignorance and Remus staring at me.

"Where am I?"  I asked, ending in a coughing fit.

"Where are you?!"  Asked Ignorance, laughing hysterically.  "Welcome to your own personal hell Depression!"  He screeched, laughing like a manic.

"The idiot means,"  Said Remus with a sigh.  "Your stuck in the Pit with us."  He slowly started smirking.

"He's stuck here with us."  Said Ignorance, started to smirk too.  "And Corruption isn't here to stop us from doing whatever we please."  Ignorance tapped his fingertips together slowly, smirking down at me.

I pushed myself upwards, trying to move away from them.  I started feeling the beginnings of a panic attack.  They both advanced on me, anger and insanity flashing in their eyes.

"Welcome to the panic room."  Hissed Remus.

"Where all your darkest fears are gonna come for you."  Growled Ignorance.

Deceit POV
I held onto Roman's sword in shock.  Did Virgil just throw himself into the portal to save me?  I grabbed the dagger off the ground and tried to shield my face from what happened next.

I screamed as the portal exploded outwards, collapsing in on itself.  The force sent me flying backwards.  There was a ringing and than a loud explosion, sending another wave of energy outwards.

Suddenly, the portal just disappeared.  I stared in shock at where it once was.  All that was left was a huge scorch mark on the ground.  Virgil's trapped in the Pit, with Greed and Ignorance.

"Yes!"  I heard Corruption scream.  "I w-win!"

"Not so fucking fast."  I hissed, quickly getting to my feet.

"V-Virgil's gone,"  Said Corruption as he turned to face me.  "Y-you can't do any-anything to s-stop me."

Rage filled me.  A furious burning rage towards Corruption filled me.  This...glitch...killed Doubt and has now gotten rid of Virgil.

I screamed and charged Corruption, brandishing the dagger.  Corruption flinched backwards, twitching heavily.

"Your going to die!  Right here right now!"  I screamed at him while slashing the dagger at him.

"Y-you can't kill m-me."  Hissed Corruption.  "I've d-done nothing but h-help you."  I stopped for a second, genuinely shocked at what he said.

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!"  I screeched, rage taking over.  "YOU KILLED DOUBT!"

Something snapped in me.  All other emotions left me.  All I wanted to do was kill Corruption.  Make him suffer.

"I'm going to fucking end you."  I hissed at him while swinging the dagger at him.  The blade connected with his gut.

Corruption screamed, falling backwards while clutching his stomach.  I stood over top of him and started stabbing randomly.

"You killed him!"  I screamed at him, feeling tears rolling down my cheeks.  "I barely even got to say goodbye!"

Corruption kept screaming out in pain.  I didn't stop.  I just kept stabbing.  I grabbed him by the collar and picked him up.

"Y-you can't k-kill me."  Hissed Corruption.

"Yes I can."  I hissed back.

"You o-owe me!  I free-freed you!"  Corruption stuttered.

"That doesn't matter now."  I told him angrily.

"Y-your owe me y-your life."  He growled, trying to struggle out of my grip.

"YOU KILLED DOUBT!"  I screeched.

With that, I raised the dagger up over my head and pointed it at his head.

"N-no!"  Yelled Corruption, clawing at my hand to get me to let go of him.

Quickly, I brought the dagger down.  I drove the dagger right into Corruption's eye that glitched.

Corruption screamed out, but his voice started glitching.  I let go of the dagger, leaving the blade buried in his eye.

I threw him to the ground.  Corruption struggled, trying to get the dagger out of his eye.

But slowly, one of his arms started glitching.  And than it was gone.  I took a few steps away.

"N-No!  L-look what...y-you've d-d-done!"  Screeched Corruption, his voice giving out of him.  He tried to get up, but one of his legs glitched and disappeared.

"N-nooo....."  He whispered.  Slowly but steadily, the rest of his body glitched and disappeared.  I watched, feeling no sympathy for him.

And than, he was gone.  The dagger clattered to the ground.  It was over.

Roman POV

I watched in shock as Corruption disappeared.  The dagger clattered against the ground and stopped glowing.  The cage flickered a bit and than disappeared.

Deceit fell to his knees, breathing heavily.  He had one of his hands to his chest.  His largest snake circled around his other arm.

Patton headed over to Deceit and pulled him into a hug.  Logan, Remy, and Picani followed him to Deceit.  Thomas stumbled over to them, obviously in shock.

I ignored them and walked over to where my sword was in the ground.  I stood next to it and looked at the spot where the portal was.

I felt tears brimming in my eyes.  Virgil was gone.  He's stuck in the Pit with Remus and Ignorance.  How are we supposed to get him back?

I clutched onto my sword and fell to the ground sobbing.  Right after I had gotten him back, Virgil had been snatched right back out of my arms.

I crawled across the ground to where Virgil's hoodie was. I grabbed it and held it against my chest. I cried into it wishing it was him.

I needed him back. Is this like the pain Deceit was in from loosing Doubt? There was an empty feeling inside me.

"We're going to get him back." Said a voice behind me. I turned to see Deceit. I wanted to be angry at him for not saving Virgil, but I couldn't bring myself to.

Patton came over and sat down next to me. He pulled me into a gentle hug. I just held onto Virgil's hoodie.

"I don't know how to, but we'll figure it out." Said Deceit.

"What if it frees Remus and Ignorance too though?"  Asked Patton.

"We can't risk that." Logan said. "They would destroy Thomas's mental stability."

"We need to get Virgil back!" I yelled at Logan. "You'd risk it if it was Patton in there!" I glared at him. Logan looked away in shame.

"Arguing isn't going to get us anywhere." Said Patton. "How do we get him back."

"I don't know how but it will most likely take. A while." Said Deceit, he paused to think about it. "We'll have to wait an entire week before we can do anything though." My jaw dropped open.

"A week?!" I yelled. "Why?!"

"If you know a faster way, I'm all ears." Deceit hissed. "But it we do it quickly, it will literally tear him apart."

"How?" Asked Logan.

"The Pit will start to get a grip on him and if we try to pull him out of it too quickly, it will literally tear him apart. And than he'll be gone forever and he won't come back." Answered Deceit. He was holding Virgil's book and flipping through the pages.

"Let's just go home." Said Patton, standing up and walking over to Thomas. "We need to explain everything that happened to Thomas and to just rest. Corruption's gone for good now."

"Patton's right." Agreed Logan. "We need to rest."

"Tell us when you get Virgil back." Said Remy, giving us a two finger salute. He grabbed Picani and the two of them sank down back to the trait complex.

"Go back home Thomas." Said Patton, rubbing his back. "We'll explain everything tomorrow."

Thomas nodded and sank back down to the real world. Logan, Patton, and Deceit looked at me.

I still hadn't moved, I just stayed on the ground. I clutched tightly onto Virgil's hoodie. I couldn't just go home and sleep while Virgil was trapped in the Pit with Remus and Ignorance.

"Why can't we just go into the Pit after him?" I asked, trying to choke back tears.

"It would destroy us." Answered Logan. "The Pit aims destroys to destroy us."

"Than how did all the dark sides survive there?" I asked.

"Corruption kept them alive. He literally owns that place." Explained Logan.

"But he's gone now!" I yelled, fear filling me.

"Exactly, that's why we need to work to free them quickly." Said Logan.

"I'll help Deceit get settled in in his new room in our house, Logan please get Roman back to his room." Patton said, starting to get annoyed with out bickering. He grabbed Deceit's arm and headed back home.

"Come on Roman, we need to get home."  Said Logan.

"But Virgil..."

"Is gone for now."  Logan said sternly.  "I understand your going through an immense amount of negative emotions, but moping around like a child is not going to bring Virgil back."

"Why don't you care."  I sobbed, starting to get angry with Logan.  Why doesn't he care that Virgil is gone.  Virgil is gone now!  He's stuck in there being tormented by Remus and Ignorance and they don't care!

"I do care,"  Logan said, softer this time.  "But we need to go at this with a stable state of mind.  We don't have time to cry, we have to work to get Virgil back.  You shutting down because of his absence isn't going to help."

"I need him back."  I mumbled, not moving to get up.  "I can't do this without him."

"Roman!"  Yelled Logan, causing me to snap my head up to look at him.  He glared at me, anger flaring in his eyes.  "If you want Virgil back, snap out of this right now!  If you care about him, your going to act like the Prince that you say you are and go rescue him!"

"I can't."  I said, breaking down and sobbing.

Logan grabbed me roughly by the arm.  I stumbled upwards as he pulled me forwards by the arm.  I was surprised with his strength, considering he seemed to be this skinny, lanky, weak nerd.

We reached the house quickly.  Logan opened the door, causing it to slam against the wall loudly.  He dropped my arm and shut the door behind me.

He walked away without a word, leaving me all alone.  He headed up the stairs, most likely trying to find Patton.

Slowly, I made my way over to the staircase.  I paused for a second, and stared at it.  Virgil stood at the bottom of the staircase.  I felt my tears in his eyes.  I'd give anything for him to be back, standing there, giving his sarcastic responses to everything I would say.

I headed up the stairs and passed my room.  I made my way down the hallway towards Virgil's room.

I was about to open his door, but stopped in my tracks when I saw a new door across from Virgil's.  It was yellow with black paint dripping down it.  I can only assume it's Deceit's new room.

I sighed and turned away.  I walked into Virgil's room, shutting and locking the door behind me.

I walked over to his bed and collapsed on it.  I started crying again.  I pulled the blankets over me and cuddled his hoodie against my chest.

I breathed in his scent, wishing he was here beside me.  I can't do this without him.  After so many times of almost loosing him, he's gone now.  I couldn't save him.  I'm a prince, I should've been able to save him.  This is all my fault.

Patton POV
"Welcome home."  I said softly as I opened the front door for Deceit.

"Whatever."  He mumbled.

"Come on, we'll sort out your room now."  I told him while heading for the stairs.

I could hear him slowly following behind me.  I reached the top of the stairs and looked for Deceit's new room.  It was at the end of the hallway...across from Virgil's room.

The door was yellow with black paint dripping down it.  I opened it and stepped into a large empty room.  Deceit followed me into the room and walked into the middle of it.

"How bland."  He hissed out, glaring disdainfully around the room.

"Well you can control what's it in."  I told him.

"I'm well aware."  He said.  "I'd like to be left alone."

"Of course."  I mumbled, stepping out of the room.  "Just come get us when your ready to work on rescuing Virgil or...planning Doubt's funeral."  I said the last part softly, taking notice to how he tensed up.

I shut the door behind me.  I looked up as I heard a door shut.  It was Logan's door.

I started to head towards Logan's room, but I heard crying from Virgil's room.  Sadness filled me.  For both Virgil and Roman.  Virgil was trapped somewhere, suffering.  Roman was just having a complete breakdown from loosing Virgil.

I quickly headed to Logan's room and didn't bother knocking.  I shut the door behind me and beelined for the bed.  I fell down onto it, ignoring Logan's greeting.

I curled up, tears pricking in my eyes.  I felt a hand rubbing my back gently.  I looked up to see Logan looking down at me.

I started sobbing and launched myself up into his arms.  Logan sat down on his bed, cradling me in his arms.

"Everything's going horribly wrong."  I said between sobs.  "Everything was supposed to work out happily ever after once we got rid of Corruption.  But now Virgil's gone and probably getting hurt right now and Roman's isolating himself in Virgil's room and Doubt's dead and Deceit's all alone and Picani's hurt."

"Shhh."  Logan shushed me, pulling me tightly against his chest.  "It's going to be okay.  We are going to get Virgil back and Roman will be happy again.   Deceit will eventually accept what happened to Doubt and he'll come to peace with it.  Picani isn't going to die, Remy is taking care of him.  The bullet only grazed his neck which means it won't kill him."

I nodded slowly, knowing that Logan was right.  He's always right.  I dug my fingers into his shirt and buried my face in his chest.  Logan rested his chin on top of my head and ran his fingers through my hair.

"Logan...?"

"Yes?"

"I love you."

"I love you too Patton."  Logan said while kissing the top of my head.

"I don't know what I'd do if I lost you."  I mumbled, just saying what was on my mind.  "Both Roman and Deceit lost who they loved today."

"They will be okay.  Don't worry yourself about something that didn't happen and won't happen."  Logan told me gently.

I nodded again.  I moved my hands and started fiddling with Logan's tie to distract myself.  Logan moved me so I was straddling him.

He stood up, making me wrap my arms around his neck.  He carried me over to his desk and sat down in his chair with me in his lap.

"I need to work on getting Virgil back,"  He told me, placing another kiss on top do my head.  "You can stay here with me but I can't give you a lot of attention right now."

"That's okay Logie."  I said with a small smile.  I started playing with his tie again as Logan opened his laptop and started typing away at his computer.
