Chapter_40 Finals

"I'm fine, really," Cassie assured Meryl, the frustration evident in her tone despite her polite smile. She winced slightly, her hand instinctively moving to cover the bandage wrapped around her arm.

Cassie was dressed in the pale blue hospital gown, seated on the bed. Her posture was relaxed but the grimace that appeared on her face betrayed the pain that she was trying to hide.

Just then, Manson entered the room, a carton of pizza in hand. Manson strolled over to Cassie, his expression conveying concern.

Meanwhile, Meryl rose from the chair on the other side of the bed, leaving it vacant as she made her way towards Tyrson, who was leaning against the wall. Michelle, oblivious to the conversation, slept soundly nearby.

Manson gingerly placed the carton in front of Cassie and opened it, revealing the aromatic slices of pizza inside.

"The doctor has advised that you avoid such fatty foods while you're recovering, but considering your craving for pizza, I will make an exception this one time."

Cassie gave Manson a grateful smile and leaned forward, inhaling the inviting aroma of the pizza. "Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it. I promise to eat only a few slices."

Cassie smiled mischievously as she picked up a slice of pizza and took a hearty bite, relishing the savory flavors. Manson watched her with a hint of fondness, admiring her enthusiasm for the food.

Meryl, watching the exchange from a distance, turned to Tyrson. "Is he always this attentive? I can't help but feel like he's a bit too invested in her recovery," she whispered, raising an eyebrow.

"Come to think of it, I kind of like his protectiveness."

Meryl's comment drew a slight shake of the head from Tyrson, his eyes fixed on her with a knowing gaze.

"I'm right here," he replied with a teasing grin, causing her to laugh.

"Michelle has been discharged, so I'll be taking you guys home," Tyrson said. "Manson, if you don't mind, I'd like you to stay with Cassie. You know, someone's got to keep her from eating the whole pizza," he added with a playful smirk.

"But, Tyrson, what about my work?" Manson began, his voice trailing off as Tyrson quickly interjected.

"Forget work, this is a perfect opportunity to play the doting caregiver," Tyrson quipped with a wink. Cassie's cheeks flushed pink, caught off guard by Tyrson's suggestion.

"What? Don't get the wrong idea, Manson's just here because I'm sick," Cassie defended, a hint of awkwardness in her voice.

"Hey...are you this slow-witted?"

Manson's question made Cassie furrow her brows, feigning confusion.

Just then, Meryl was struck with a sudden bout of hiccups, which caused everyone in the room to turn their attention to her.

"A...are you okay?" Tyrson asked, concern etched on his face.

"Meryl?" Cassie called out, her voice tinged with worry as she saw her friend rubbing her chest and shaking her head in discomfort.

Suddenly, Meryl felt her legs grow heavy, and she struggled to keep her balance. The voices of those around her seemed to fade into the distance, as if she were hearing them through a thick wall of cotton.

Darkness began to envelop her vision, and before she knew it, she had fallen into a state of unconsciousness.

Tyrson sprang into action as soon as the doctor entered the room, approaching him with a worried expression. "Doctor, how is Meryl?" he asked, his voice tinged with anxiety.

The doctor walked over to Meryl's bedside, checking her pulse and monitoring her vitals. "She appears to be suffering from stress," he explained. "Her test results came back well, and the baby seems to be doing fine."

Tyrson's eyes widened in shock at the mention of a baby.

"What do you mean, her baby is fine?" Tyrson asked, perplexed and shocked by the news. "I had no idea she was pregnant. Are you sure there hasn't been some kind of mistake?"

The doctor turned to face Tyrson, his expression serious but reassuring. "I assure you, there's been no mistake. Meryl is indeed pregnant, and her baby is doing well. She'll need to take it easy and reduce stress as much as possible."

Tyrson, overwhelmed with joy, wrapped his arms around the doctor in a tight hug. "Thank you, thank you," he repeated, his smile broadening as he thought about the miracle of life that was growing within Meryl's body.

His mind went back to the time when he thought he'd missed watching Michelle grow, and now, he was faced with another beautiful gift.

The doctor gently patted Tyrson's shoulder and left the room, giving Tyrson some privacy. Tyrson then pulled up a chair next to Meryl.

As Tyrson showered Meryl's face with gentle kisses, she stirred from her slumber, her eyes still closed.

"Stop that," she said weakly, her voice tired but playful. "Tell me what's going on. What's wrong with me?" She asked.

Tyrson smiled tenderly and held Meryl's hand. "Thank you," he said, his words brimming with sincerity.

Meryl watched Tyrson, confused by his words. Slowly, realization dawned on her, and her eyes widened in shock. "No way..." she began, but Tyrson interrupted her, his voice tender and knowing.

"It's what you're thinking, baby."

Meryl gazed at Tyrson, emotions swirling inside her. She wasn't sure what to say, unsure if this news was a blessing or a curse.

Once again, the previously quiet and abandoned mansion was now alive with the sound of merriment and laughter, as if it had awakened from a deep slumber.

The house was illuminated with bright lights, and the sign of a grand celebration was evident.

"Michelle, slow down," Meryl cautioned as Michelle pulled her through the halls, excitement evident in every step as they made their way to her room.

Michelle was clad in a magnificent Cinderella gown, which she held aloft as if it were the most precious treasure in the world.

Meryl's silver gown glimmered as it graced her slender figure, accentuating her curves and catching the light with each movement.

Her hair, elegantly swept into an updo, only added to her timeless beauty. Light makeup highlighted her natural features, completing her exquisite look.

Michelle burst into the room, her enthusiasm palpable as she held out a large gift box, wrapped in ribbons. "Mom, I got a new birthday gift from Dad!" she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement.

Written on the box, in bold lettering, was the inscription "From Dad to my lovely daughter." A knowing smile graced Meryl's face as she recalled the meticulous planning that had gone into preparing for this surprise.

Today, her father, whom Michelle had longed to see, would finally make his long-awaited appearance.

"Your dad will be here soon," Meryl whispered, her voice full of anticipation and excitement. Michelle's eyes widened in disbelief, her face a mixture of joy and disbelief.

"Really, Mom?" Michelle asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Meryl nodded, her smile growing even wider.

"Yes, darling. This is going to be the biggest surprise of your life." the birthday party was the biggest surprise she had ever have in our entire life.

This birthday party was the most memorable one she had ever experienced. Michelle couldn't believe that, in addition to celebrating in a beautiful home and inviting all her friends, she would also finally get to meet her father.

As Meryl was basking in this joyous moment, Felicia appeared in the doorway, a broad smile on her face. "Meryl, it's time," she exclaimed. "What are you doing here?" Her words held a hint of affection, her acceptance of Michelle as part of the family evident.

It was a hard-won reconciliation, but Felicia had recognized the error of her ways. She had since apologized to Meryl and even helped put Julia behind bars for what she had done to her son and granddaughter.

"Yes, Mother," Meryl replied. Together, the three women made their way downstairs. The hall was shrouded in darkness, but the sound of voices singing "Happy Birthday" could be heard.

And then, as if on cue, the lights came on, spotlighting Tyrson, who stood before them, a giant teddy bear held in front of his face.

Michelle gasped in amazement, breaking free from Meryl's protective embrace. She took tentative steps towards Tyrson, her eyes never leaving the bear that still obscured his features.

With slow, measured movements, Tyrson lowered the teddy bear, a broad grin spreading across his face as he finally looked down at his daughter.

Michelle stood frozen, her voice barely a whisper as she breathed the words, "Mr. Philanthropist?" Her question hung in the air, heavy with significance and anticipation.

"Are you...my father?" Her innocent voice trembled with uncertainty. Tyrson knelt in front of her, nodding as he answered, "Yes." He watched her with bated breath, hoping that this revelation would be welcomed by his daughter.

"Are you really my father?" Michelle repeated, tears glistening in her eyes. She was unsure if this was just some cruel joke, or if she was finally meeting the man who'd been absent her entire life.

"Yes, I am," Tyrson replied, his voice thick with emotion. "I'm so sorry for not being there for you. For hiding this from you. I didn't know how to face you after everything that had happened."

As Tyrson expressed his remorse, Michelle couldn't hold back her emotions any longer and hugged him tightly, soaking in the realization that she had finally found her father.

"I'm glad you're my dad," she said, her voice unexpectedly mature and composed. "I was afraid I wouldn't like you since I'd already gotten used to knowing Mr philanthropist, but it turns out you're pretty okay."

Tyrson reciprocated the embrace, the tears streaming down Meryl's face now a reflection of both happiness and relief. The guests applauded their emotional reunion, before Tyrson turned to Michelle with a glint of mischief in his eye.

"One more surprise!" he exclaimed, and Michelle's laughter was like the tinkling of bells as she pondered what it could be.

"You're going to be an elder sister soon," he revealed, hoping she would grasp the weight of the news.

Tyrson's grin faltered as he searched Meryl's face for a smile, only to be met with a gaze of shock. Her hands trembled uncontrollably, and Tyrson immediately felt his gut twist with worry.

Holding Michelle's hand, he hurried to Meryl's side. "What's wrong?" he asked urgently, his voice laced with concern.

As Tyrson's gaze fell on the blood-stained note, his heart sank.

"This is not the end!" the note read

*THE END*
