Chapter_36

"Do you have any food -" Meryl began, but Tyrson interrupted her before she could finish her sentence.

"Everything you'll need is here," he said firmly, cutting her off. Meryl bit her lip, unsure how to respond.

"I don't want you both leaving the house without me around," Tyrson continued, his tone brooking no argument. "Your lives could be in danger." Meryl nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.

"Follow me," Tyrson said, his voice leaving no room for argument. Meryl took Michelle's hand and they followed him in silence until they reached a door.

Meryl recognized the door - it was the room where Tyrson had kept their memories. She wondered what he had done to it, what changes he had made.

Tyrson opened the door, and Meryl gasped. The room was transformed - everything was pink, with teddy bears and children's toys everywhere. It looked like a child's bedroom.

"You don't have to do all this," Meryl said, but Tyrson cut her off. "This isn't for you," he said with a smirk. "It's for my little munchkin."

Michelle gasped, her eyes lighting up as she realized the room was for her. "All this is for me?" she asked, barely able to contain her excitement.

"All this for me? Thank you so much, Mr. Philanthropist!" she exclaimed, hugging his legs in excitement. Then she ran into the room and jumped on the bed, grabbing the pink teddy bear.

"I've always wanted a princess room like this!" she exclaimed. She checked out all the toys, feeling like a kid in a candy store.

"Mom, I don't want to leave," she said, her eyes pleading with Meryl. "I love it here!"

"You..." Meryl began, ready to scold her daughter for being so demanding.

"You can stay here for as long as you want," Tyrson interrupted, giving Meryl a look that said "don't ruin this."

"Yay!!!" Michelle exclaimed, jumping on the bed with glee. Tyrson took Meryl by the arm and pulled her out of the room before she could protest any further.

"You don't have to do this much for us," Meryl said, her voice wavering. "We won't be staying here for long."

Tyrson's expression darkened, his brows furrowing in frustration. "And it's better you get used to it," he said in a firm tone, "because I'm not going anywhere."

Meryl's heart pounded in her chest. She didn't want to upset Tyrson, but she couldn't help but feel that he was being overly possessive.

"You're spoiling Michelle," she said, but her voice was barely above a whisper.

Tyrson scoffed. "It's not spoiling," he said.

"I'm only making up for the things I should have done for her," Tyrson said, his voice betraying his anger, "or the things you deprived her of."

Meryl bit her lip, feeling like she had been backed into a corner. She didn't want to upset Tyrson, but she couldn't agree with his reasoning.

"She is my daughter," Tyrson said, his voice resolute. "And I'll do everything in my power to make her happy, and to make up for the time I've missed as her father."

Meryl felt a wave of resignation wash over her. She knew there was no point in arguing with Tyrson, he was determined to do what he thought was best for his daughter. And so, with a sigh, she conceded.

"Fine," Meryl said, throwing her hands up in defeat. She followed Tyrson's gesture to a room across the hall, feeling resigned. "My room is over there?" she asked, more of a statement than a question.

"Yes," Tyrson said, then added, "Everything you need is here, but if there's anything else you need, you can call me."

Meryl bit her lip, not sure what to say. But as he turned to leave, she knew she had no choice. "Wait," she called out and he stopped.

"So... are you coming home?" Meryl asked, her voice barely above a whisper. A sly smile crept onto Tyrson's face, and Meryl immediately regretted opening her mouth.

"Miss me already?" he teased, his voice light and playful. Meryl's face flushed, and she cleared her throat, struggling to find the right words.

"It's not what you're thinking," she said quickly. "I just wanted to know if there's anything you'd like me to make for dinner when you get home."

Meryl was too flustered to look Tyrson in the eye. She kept her gaze fixed on the ground, unable to move. Tyrson stepped closer to her, until they were mere inches apart. Gently, he reached out and lifted her chin, so that they were face to face.

"I don't want this to end," Tyrson said, his voice full of emotion.

Meryl's heart fluttered. She looked up into his eyes, and for a moment, she felt like they were the only two people in the world. She could see the fear in his eyes, the fear that they would go back to the way things were before.

"Michelle is inside," Meryl said in a low voice, her heart racing as she felt Tyrson's breath against her face. "She'll probably be sleeping by now," he replied.

"and if she caught us... I'll make her understand that Mom and Dad are working on making another baby, so she won't be lonely anymore."

Tyrson smiled, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "And just how are we going to explain that to her?" he asked, his voice low and seductive.

She struck his chest, he caught her hand mid-blow, pulling her towards him. His lips pressed softly against hers, and she felt herself melting into the kiss.

Her heart was racing, and she couldn't think straight. All she knew was that she wanted this moment to last forever.

After what felt like an eternity, Tyrson pulled away, his face flushed and his breath ragged.

"I'll be back soon," Tyrson said with a sly grin, "and you'll be punished for keeping my daughter a secret from me." He smirked.

Meryl's cheeks flushed crimson, and she felt a wave of guilt wash over her.

He winked at her as he left, and Meryl turned back to head to the room he had told her was hers. But she was surprised to see Michelle standing there, a strange look on her face.

"Michelle?" Meryl asked, her heart racing. "What are you doing here?"

Michelle stared at her, her face unreadable. "Mom, are you having an affair with Mr. Tyrson?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"Any news on Ludovic's whereabouts?" Tyrson asked, his tone urgent.

Manson rose from his chair and met Tyrson's gaze. They were friends, but Manson also respected the authority Tyrson held in the company. Without Tyrson, he wouldn't have his current position.

"I'm afraid there's been no movement from Ludovic in the past few days," Manson responded, a furrow forming between his brows. "Should we be concerned?"

Tyrson frowned as he sat at his desk, deep in thought. There was something about the situation that didn't sit right with him.

The lack of movement from Ludovic was concerning, but he couldn't put his finger on why. He decided to switch gears and ask about Julia, who he knew was another trouble.

"What has Julia been up to?" he asked, trying to keep his voice even.

"I don't know," Manson replied, shrugging. "She hasn't been coming to work and I haven't noticed anything strange about her behavior."

Tyrson let out a sigh. He just wanted everything to be over so he could live peacefully with Meryl and Michelle. But deep down, he knew that was unlikely. There was too much at stake, and too many moving parts.

"I'll keep an eye on her," Manson said. "But what do you think Ludovic's next target will be?"

Tyrson considered the question for a moment. "Given what happened to Michelle, I'd say she's likely a target," he replied. "But we can't be sure."

"I understand," Manson said.

"I'll cover for you at the meeting," Manson said, a barely-concealed smile playing across his lips.

Tyrson narrowed his eyes. "What?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Nothing," Manson replied, but the look on his face said otherwise. "I'm sure the house will be... lively... with Miss Meryl and Michelle."

Tyrson couldn't help but smile. He knew what Manson was insinuating, and he had to admit, it was a tempting thought.

As soon as he left the office, he head home.

As he pulled into the driveway, he noticed that the house was lit up, despite the late hour. Usually, the house was dark by this time. But tonight, all the lights were on.

Before Tyrson left for the office, he had asked the maid to set everything up and leave once they were done. He knew Meryl didn't like having them around, and he wanted to make sure everything was perfect for when she got home.

He parked his car in the garage and made his way to the front door.

As Tyrson opened the door, the smell of Meryl's delicious cooking hit him. The aroma was intoxicating, and he felt a pang of hunger. But something else caught his attention, the sound of laughter coming from the living room.

Tyrson's eyes adjusted to the dim light as he entered the house. The living room was bathed in the glow of the TV, and he could see Michelle and Cassie sitting on the couch, watching a movie.

"Hi, Tyrson!" Cassie said, waving at him from the couch. She pointed to the kitchen, a mischievous grin on her face. Tyrson got the message,  Meryl was in the kitchen.

Michelle, however, was too engrossed in the movie to notice Tyrson's arrival. She was completely absorbed in the drama unfolding on the screen.

Tyrson loosened his tie and dropped his bag on the floor. Then he tiptoed to the entrance of the kitchen, and watched Meryl surreptitiously.

Meryl was wearing a crop top and shorts, with an apron tied around her waist. Her hair was pulled back in a messy bun, and she was focused on the eggs she was frying. She looked so beautiful and serene in that moment.

Tyrson had a pang of nostalgia, remembering when Joanna would be in the living room, watching TV until she fell asleep.

Those were simpler times, when his family was whole and happy. Now, he had a chance to make things right, to be with Meryl again and to be a father to Meryl.

Tyrson felt like he finally had a complete family. He had his daughter, and his ex-wife, whom he planned to remarry once they'd resolved their issues.

Meryl turned around, as if sensing his presence, and her eyes widened when she saw him. "Hey... you're back," she said softly.

Tyrson smiled as he took a few steps toward her. She backed up until her back hit the kitchen counter, and he was standing right in front of her.

"W-what are you doing?" Meryl stammered, as Tyrson inched closer. He turned off the stove, and his face was so close to hers that she could feel his breath on her lips.

"You don't know how empty this house has felt without you and Michelle here," he said. "With you and Michelle, it feels like a home again." She could feel the sincerity in his words, and it made her heart race.

Meryl's hands found their way to Tyrson's hair, running her fingers through the soft strands. She looked into his eyes, and tears began to form.

"You don't know how much I've hoped for this day to come," she whispered, her voice breaking. "I've missed coming home to you, making dinner for you after work, spending time with you, making love to you. I've missed you so much." Her words were catharsis, and the tears began to fall.

"Shh," he whispered, wiping her tears away. "We'll get through this together, I promise." Then, his lips found hers, and they kissed with a passion that had been pent up for far too long.

Their tongues fought for dominance, and the urgency and need between them was palpable. Tyrson lifted Meryl up onto the kitchen counter, standing between her legs.

But Meryl pulled back, looking at him with a teasing glint in her eyes. "You wouldn't want my daughter saying you cheated on her dad again"

"Did she really say that?" Tyrson asked, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. Meryl nodded, and he couldn't help but laugh.

"She's still mad at me thinking I was cheating on her dad," Meryl said, and they both laughed. Tyrson ran his fingers through her hair as she talked, lost in the moment.

"Excuse me," a voice called from the doorway, turning to see Cassie standing.

"Hmmm," Cassie said, feigning a cough. The two of them jumped apart, staring at her. "You guys should probably get a room," she teased.

"Michelle?" Meryl asked, her face turning red.

"She's already asleep," Cassie replied. "I put her to bed earlier. You guys can have the house to yourselves." With that, she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and left, leaving the two of them alone.

"The food's ready," Meryl said, her voice a little shaky. "Do you want to eat first, or shower first?"

"I'm eating first," Tyrson replied, his eyes twinkling. "I've been dying to taste your cooking again." He couldn't help but smirk as he saw her blush.

"You're impossible," she said, rolling her eyes. She led him to the table, setting down plates and silverware.

"Once I'm done eating, I'm going to punish you" he smirked, but she cut him off with a kiss. "Eat first," she said, "then we'll see about punishment later."

"I should check on Michelle," she said. He smiled, and watched as Meryl walked away. He felt a wave of contentment wash over him, knowing that his family was back together again. He had everything he could ever ask for.

Ludovic stood at his balcony, puffing on a cigar. He wore an eye patch, covering the wound he'd received from Julia.

A man with tattoos all over his body approached and whispered something in his ear. Ludovic smirked.

"Let them enjoy their little victory while it lasts," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "They don't know who the real target is." He turned away from the balcony and headed inside, a sinister plan forming in his mind.

"Julia?" he growled, his eyes narrowing as he spoke her name. If he ever found her, he would make her pay for what she'd done. He would make her like him, tortured and twisted.

"We haven't found her yet," the man beside him stammered, fear evident in his voice.

Ludovic's grip tightened around the man's throat, cutting off his air. "Find her, or I'll make you suffer in her place," he snarled, and then released him.

The man on the floor coughed, trying to catch his breath. Ludovic glared down at him, his eyes blazing with fury. "Now get out of my sight," he said, his voice cold and deadly. The man scrambled to his feet and scurried away, leaving Ludovic alone.
