CHAPTER 15

TOBIAS POV~~~~~~~~~~~~

Recap~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I get there and see.......

Tris is awake, but she is screaming and crying. The nurses are yelling stuff at each other and Colby is holding a bucket near her.

All of a sudden, she starts vomiting blood into the bucket. I run over and try to reach Tris, but the nurses hold me back.

"Tobias come here." Mom sobs.

I walk towards her as another scream erupts out of Tris's body. I can't watch. This is too painful. I turn away and face the wall. I hear more vomiting and then soft crying.

I take a peek and see that Tris has her face in her hands.

"I think it's over." Colby sighs.

"Oh thank you." One of the nurses says.

"What had even happened?" Mom asks.

"She was sleeping with the medication and we gave her liquid food. Her body didn't agree with it, and she woke up and started screaming. All of a sudden she just started puking blood. I guess from her back? I don't know. But she lost a lot of blood." One of the nurses say.

I slowly walk over and sit down on the bed. Tris takes a glance and she starts crying even more.

"Tris....." I open my arms for her to come towards me.

She starts to come towards me, but stops.

"Can't." She whispers and another sob racks her body.

"Okay. Shhhhhh...... Shhhhhhhhh......"

I go closer, so I can reach her and wrap my arms around her frail figure.

She buries her head into my chest and sobs quietly.

I softly stroke her hair and her sobs eventually slow and get quieter. I look around the room again. Most of the nurses have left, and the only people in the room is mom, dad, Evelyn, who I did not see when this was happening, and Colby.

Colby is sneaking glances at me, while writing notes, Evelyn is weeping in a corner, and mom and dad are talking and crying.

"Tobias......." Tris says.

"Yes?"

"Am I dying?" She whispers.

"No. You are a fighter. You will not let this kill you. You are strong and brave. You are not dying."

She nods and blinks away tears.

She slowly leans back into me and I can see her eyelids begin to droop. I lean her back against the pillows and I start to get up, but she grabs me.

"Stay with me." She whispers.

"Always." I say.

I see her struggling to keep her eyes open as she watches me. I carefully push her over and lay down next to her. She grabs my hand and squeezes.

I squeeze back, but it is already too late. She is fast asleep already.

"Is she dying?" Evelyn asks Colby.

"No. She's just...... She...... Listen. We don't know what is wrong with her. We have out best nurses researching and overseeing her, but we haven't figured anything out. We don't know if this is a side effect of the medication that we shouldn't have given her considering her condition. We don't know if she is bleeding in the inside because of her back. Only time will tell and as soon as we figure out anything, we will immediately take action. One of these days we might figure it out and maybe she will need emergency surgery. Is everyone okay with that?" Colby tells everyone.

"It really depends on what it is." Dad says.

"Like an emergency life-saving surgery." Colby states.

"Well if she needs it. Then yes." Mom sniffles.

"Okay. I mean we will contact you if we need to do anything, but I am pretty sure that we won't need to operate. I think this is just a stage. She will probably just need a lot of rest. Not a lot of moving around for 2-3 weeks and then she will slowly regain her strength." Colby says.

"How much rest?" Dad asks.

"She will probably sleep 12-16 hours each day. Even if she had just slept, she will realize that she is tired again. There is no way of fighting it. One minutes she'll be up and walking around and the next she'll need to sit down, because she's too tired to even move. It really depends on the pain medication and how bad the wound is. And her's.... Let's just say it's not that good." Colby's says.

"Are you like a doctor or something?" I ask.

"Yeah. I decided to come here because they paid good and they needed better doctors."

"Cool."

"How long will she need to be here?" Evelyn asks.

"I would say about five more days. Just to let the nurses and doctors examine her and make sure nothing like what just happened today, happens when there is no doctors around." Colby says.

I sigh. It's so long until she can come home.

Tris starts moaning in her sleep and Colby get up and adjusts something on the machine. Soon afterwords, Tris stops, but not before she screams a couple times.

"Why does she scream?" I ask.

"It's the pain. It's too much for her tiny body. It's just doesn't work." Colby states.

"If she was bigger, than maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But there is nothing we can do about that now." Colby says. He clasps his hands together.

"I am going to get something to eat. Mom, dad, Evelyn, want to join me?"

He asks.

"Yes sure. Tobias you already ate, are you sure you want to stay by yourself?" Dad asks.

"Yeah I'll be fine." I respond.

They all walk out, leaving me with Tris. I lean my head down on her head and close my eyes. I imagine what could've happened. What should've happened after the party. We should have went home and talked and went to sleep. We could've went to school today and planned stuff with friends after school.

If only....... I wish....................................
