Chapter 5
Avalynn Johnson

I woke up really early to change into my sports attire. Today will be the start of our training. I wore something very easy and very comfortable to move into since I knew that the first day of training will be hard core. Well, it always was.

Going down the kitchen, I saw a lot of pack members ready was eating away to fill their bodies with energy. We might as well, need all the energy that we can get. I grabbed myself a plate of and filled it with food from the table.

Like everyone here, I consciously dug into it and ate quickly since I was excited to train today. I really needed to get back in shape again.

When I was done with my meal, I put my plate on the sink and proceeded to the training grounds where Mason once showed me. I see my pack and my mate's pack crowding over him and his warriors.

I then realized that Nolan will be the one who will supervise, correct, and give instructions to the flow of the training. Oh goddess, help me now.

"Everyone! Since this is the first day of your training, I will go easy on you guys. Run 15 laps around the forest. Do not shift into your wolves! You will run in your human forms. After that we will do conditioning so start with eighty push ups. Am I clear?" He basically used his alpha tone on us all.

'Seriously? That's easy for him?'

'Yes! At least I could burn these fats on my body!'

'Go easy, huh.'

I heard a lot of groans and murmurs but most of the people just nodded their heads eagerly, wanting to please one of the most powerful Alphas in the whole world. I just chuckled at some of their reactions. Even as a lycanthrope —with advanced skills that can surpass anything— they were still, all lazy.

"Start!" He bellowed. Immediately, everyone dispersed and started to run the laps mentioned by Nolan.

I ran the laps quite easily as it were always my warm up exercise before my usual training. Yes, I do have training with my pack but I guess this time, it will be a different kind of training since it is managed by my mate and not my pack trainer.

I started to let loose and run like the wind. I had always loved to chase with other wolves, play with them when I was younger. It made me so much happier and free. Just like now, running with my pack is so awesome.

After running the laps given by my mate, I had started the eighty push-ups in advance. Though, I could see that some people were still running their laps.

When I was done with the killer push ups, some of my mate's pack warriors ordered us to do some sit-ups, squats, and all the exercise they know that will condition our bodies before we start the actual training. Which, by the way, are the fighting strategies and battle techniques that we really need to know.

I was doing sit-ups normally when my mate barked, "Avalynn, put more effort into this! It is so damn easy! Do you want to be made out weak in front of our packs?"

What the hell? I gave him a dirty look knowing he just wanted to embarrass me in front of our beloved packs. Obviously, I do not want them to think that I am weak. I'm an Alpha's daughter for god sake! I don't carry my father's name as a weakling! Damn, I will show him.

I just endured his constant taunts. He cannot provoke me.

Being the Alpha's daughter, I had to be trained extra hard than some of the males in my pack as protection. My father always said that I needed to know how to defend myself especially when there will be frequent rogue attacks. Plus, I can handle all the hardships too for I had Alpha blood in me as well.

Same goes with my brother, Aiden. Being the future Alpha and all, he has to know how to protect his pack.

We had to learn self-defence, hand-to-hand combat, and mixed martial arts.

I am 100% sure that he will be shocked once he perceives my skills. I do not want to be arrogant but if he keeps on pointing out my 'mistakes' and keeps on embarrassing me, I'll just have to show him what I've got and push my limits.

I inwardly smirked.

"Grab a partner!" Nolan ordered everybody. Oh, so we're going to start with fighting already.

I scanned my surroundings and people seemed to partner up except me. Are there anymore left? I guess I have to be by myself then-

"Hey Ava, do you mind being my partner?" A new voice came in, to which, made me spin around.

"Hey, Mason. I don't mind at all." I giggled.

"Thank god, I thought I had to be alone. I promise to go easy on you though." He grinned at me.

Easy on me? Is he serious? I smirked at his words. "No need, Beta Clark. I'm pretty sure I could take you on with my eyes closed."

He gave me a smirk of his own. "Now don't get cocky on me. We'll see, Ava. We'll see."

I turned my attention back at my mate who was constantly glaring at his Beta and I. What's wrong with him. I know he doesn't like me but he can't go a minute with out wanting to kill me with his very eyes.

He shook his head in disappointment and scanned the crowd.

"Are you and your partners settled?" Everybody nodded.

"Good. Everyone will fight! You hear me? You and your partner shall be your training buddy for now." Nolan shouted loudly. "But before that, I will show you what a fight looks like. Gamma Julian, please step forward."

As promised, Gamma Julian stepped into the fighting zone. First, they started to circle each other, thinking of fighting strategies. Gamma Pearson was the one who made the first move. Sensing the attack, my mate retaliated and has managed to block the attacks. I like how this isn't scripted. You can see that they do have a few bruises and scratches every now and then.

Nolan and Julian were both moving swiftly and they had very good defense skills if I must say. The two knew how they would fight since this isn't remotely scripted and their strategies were very impressive.

But if this was a real battle with the rogues, it will get a whole lot bloody and gruesome. You might be battling five rogues during wars or attacks so you must be quick and aggressive.

Remember, Rogues never play fair.

They never did.

Though I wasn't focused on that, I was actually focused on how attractive my mate looked in his basketball shorts.

There goes the love struck puppy in me.

Even if he hated me, I wanted him so much. The attraction/struggle is real everyone.

I knew he had a great body beneath that suit he was wearing during the party. Tight muscles were packed on his lean body and it's something worth seeing everyday. His body was so toned that it was like god's gift to women.

'And, it's ours. Never forget that.' My inner wolf purred.

I shook my head so I could concentrate on the two wolves fighting. I have to comment that they're good but Julian can't match my mate's power and swiftness.

After a few minutes, they have finished fighting. You can see that they had minor scratches but nothing that their wolves can't heal. It's practically little unless, for example, the skin of your neck has been bitten off then you're dead.

"Turn to face your partners and fight them!" I heard Gamma Pearson say to the crowd.

I spun around to face Mason and he just gave me a lazy grin. I passed him one as well and I knew that this fight is going to be fun.

He started to strike first and kick me but I grabbed that foot to hold him in place. It was now my chance to retaliate by kicking his other foot and making him loose his balance.

Mason plummeted to the ground easily and I was laughing inwardly at his expression.

He looked shocked but quickly got up to a fighting stance again, looking more determined to beat me.

"Stop going easy on her, Beta. She needs to train extra hard that way." I hear Nolan say behind my back.

I just rolled my eyes and ignored his words. I refused to look at him so I waited till he left to check the progress of other people. Who does he think he is?

"I told you not to go easy on me." I teased Mason.

"Now, I know." He scowled and started throwing punches more roughly. Fast and hard, the punches kept flying everywhere.

I had to dodge those punches since the blow of those could cause death to an average human person. Though I got hit a few times —which hurt by the way— but that does not matter because it's a wake up call for me to train harder. To fight like a fighter against their enemy.

As the fight prolongs, I got more coordinated and aware of my body. Even if it was slightly tiresome. I managed to attack and make a whole lot of fighting moves against Beta Clark. My goal was that I need to hand Mason's arse on a silver platter so I could prove myself to everyone. Plus, the fight was too enjoyable for me to back down.

Even as Mason's opponent, he looked so adorable trying to fight me.

Since Mason started punching again, I ducked and returned it all back with a single but deadly uppercut on his jaw and a hook on his left cheek. After that, I gave kneed him and kicked him on his torso.

Every man hates being kneed.

Mason stumbled back a bit but regained his balance. He looked pained after being kneed. Being small does have its advantages. He ran after me again and I did a roundhouse kick on his side which made him loose his total balance once more.

It was nice fighting again. It's very enjoyable especially when you're up against Mason. He's a cool and a fair man. I like him as my training buddy. I saw a few people looking our way and I must say that the crowd's reaction was funny. They must've seen me kick their Beta's arse down.

Mason is really good in fighting but I just beat him since I used to train a lot when I was younger.

I chuckled at their faces and looked at him.

His face held a look of wonder and astonishment in them. I walked closer to him extended my right hand so I could let him up of the ground. He clutched the free hand and stood before me.

"Where did you learn how to fight like that?" He asks surprised.

I knew he was going to ask that.

"I trained a lot when I was younger. These things are very easy for me. I have learned Muay Thai, mixed martial arts, and a lot more." I explained to him. He nodded his head in understanding.

"Besides, I only had to train extra hard since I am the Alpha's daughter. I am not the Alpha but surely I have the blood coursing through me." I gave him a sheepish grin.

"You sneaky witch."  He gave me a cheeky smile, poking my sides.

"Hey, You're actually good in fighting! I'm just small in height which gave the advantage to be less suspicious of my actions." I giggled.

"I guess we are done already. We've had at least 2 rounds of fighting, right?" Mason stated.

"Yes." I replied.

My eyes suddenly locked with someone. Obviously I knew who it was since it gave me the feels. It was obviously Nolan here. His eyes held something. His eyes flashed of pride? Satisfaction? I don't know and it was gone in an instant. I couldn't even put a finger to it because I really don't understand him.

It was quite tiring but it felt good to go back home and realized that you trained hard and you trained good. It's like you achieved something big.

Walking back to the pack house, Mason and I strode past the living room to the kitchen to get some food. Well we can't go to bed with an empty stomach! After fighting, we were definitely hungry.

Mason spaced out for a while whilst I eye my delicious food. I was about to eat my good grilled cheese sandwich when he randomly chuckled and turned to look at me. What's wrong with him? I looked at him weirdly.

"Do you know that a lot of males in my pack have been talking about you in our pack's mind link?"

What? Are you shitting me?

"What could be the reason of them gossiping about me?" I asked curiously.

He was silent for a while —he was probably active in the mind link— and then his eyes widened.

Mason must have heard something awful about me. No surprise there.

"So what is it?"

He reddened. It's something you don't see everyday.

"They are actually talking about how attractive and hot you are." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

"And how they call dibs on you." He whispers, face flushing and everything.

I could not contain my laughter so I chortled out loud. He must be joking.

"Why are you laughing?" He asks seriously.

"The question is, how come they think I'm hot? I'm a plain Jane in case they haven't noticed. I try to keep everything lowkey."

"Well you kicked the Beta's ass. I hardly call that plain Jane." He smirked. "Besides, you are the neighboring Alpha's daughter and is said to be mateless, of course they'd want a piece of you."

"Well, you're a Beta, mateless too. Of course the unmated females want you too." I said, teasing him a bit.

It worked since Mason's cheek flushed once more.

"Shut up." He grumbled and continued,

"Anyway, Alpha Nolan heard it and he wasn't happy." Mason snorted.

Oh no. My mate must've thought that I'm a thot since guys from his pack were talking about me.

I groaned out loud and covered my face. I'm such a mess! He's going to hate me more!

Mason must've thought of what I thought since he raised his hand to reassure me.

"Don't worry, that's not what he actually thought of. In fact, he was actually mad, saying, 'Stay away from Alpha Johnson's daughter if you know what's best for you.' Like how could he be so possessive when he does not even acknowledge you as his mate yet?"

He is selfish. But it made my heart flutter knowing he was possessive of me.

'Of us.' My wolf whispered.

Oh right.

"Beats me." I sighed. Mason just quirks his eyebrows at me.

"I honestly don't know." I shook my head in reply. I couldn't understand him. He was so bipolar and has mood swings much worse than women.

It's confirmed, Men are strange.

To think, they said women are odd because of mood swings and nagging. Well, some part of it is true but seeing Nolan confirms the theory of men being strange.

Suddenly, a lady had cut in through our conversation.

"Miss Johnson? Alpha Blackwell requests your presence in his study."

What does he want now?
