Distant ✥ 03

A U T H O R' S N O T E

Hey guys, it's new year! How would you celebrate your new year? Instead of the fireworks and shit, I will just be here in my room since I've got fever. (Which sucks because it's new year). Anyway, here's the 3rd chapter of this story. I really do hope you like it.

You can also send me fan arts, quotes, or poems. It would be so cool!

Chapter 3
Avalynn's Point of View

Days have passed since the summit. My father announced that we will train and stay with the Black Stealth pack.

As usual, it caused quite an uproar in my pack. Some were okay and some members were against it; given the fact that everyone knew its Alpha was hostile.

Damn.

I can still picture out his piercing eyes.

The way he looked at me, scared me. His cold eyes were going to haunt me for sure.

Through the said days, it had given me and my pack time to prepare for the leave. We will be staying at Black Stealth's pack house after all. And I know they don't tolerate unpreparedness or tardiness if so.

I also have not had any contact with my mate. Well, he didn't claim me or reject me so I don't know.

He just... Ignored me.

Though, I tried not to think about him that much — even if it was near the impossible. My mind is clouded by the thought of him and my wolf was going crazy without contact of her new found mate.

Despite him, avoiding contact with me, I will see him soon after all. It will be sooner than what he expects it to be.

We are to arrive in their pack, not long from now. Maybe later, depending on my pack if they were ready. It was time for us to go there anyway.

"Avalynn? Have you packed your things yet? We will be leaving today!" My brother, Aiden, knocked on my door.

"Yes, I know." I yelled, closing the zipper of my travel bag. I unlocked my door and gave him the heavy bag.

"Here, bring this to the car, okay? You're the male over here." I smiled sweetly. He just groaned and walked away but not before rolling his eyes at me. I chuckled and patted him on the back.

I went to the bathroom to freshen up and change my clothes. Did I mention that I brought a lot of my nice clothes, just so I could impress my mate? If not, then I'll tell you that I brought a lot.

I changed into a white, loose shirt; some faded blue jeans, and finished it off with some black pumps. I checked myself on the mirror.

I look and feel good right now.

I went downstairs of the pack house to see that, a lot of people left and went to their cars already. I decided to ride with my brother, Aiden since he has his own car.

"Hey brother, can I come with you?" I asked hopefully. Besides, my brother was cool and fun. And he would never turn me down. I was his baby sister after all.

"Sure, sis. Hop in." I smiled happily and went inside his car — front seat — and he played some rock music as we headed to the Black Stealth Pack.

+ + +

It was not long till we arrived at our destination. The first thing we saw was the giant pack house of the Black Stealth Pack. It was very pleasant and classy. Plus, it wasn't hard to miss since it's practically huge.

Feeling the feels, I looked away because I felt a churn in my stomach. I was suddenly so nervous.

My mate is here.

"Avalynn, are you sick? You look pale!"

Do I? I am certainly not! I was just hard on myself that's all.

I grinned meekly just to reassure him.

"I'm okay, brother." I am just so damn nervous to see my cruel mate here. What should I do once I face him? Maybe I should just have to provoke my mate to get emotion him.

He did not look convinced at all. In fact, it looked like he really wanted to protest and say something else but he just merely shook his head.

I saw that our parents waving at us in the driveway. They arrived here first since they have left our territory, earlier than my brother and I did.

We stepped outside of the vehicle and sauntered over to my parents — who were currently talking to my mate.

First off all, the first thing that caught my gaze here was the displeased eyes of my so called mate.

Unbelievable.

I just got back from a long ride and here he is giving me that same old, dirty look. It didn't take long before my parents noticed this. Resulting for them to stare at us in confusion.

They just don't understand things.

"Alpha Nolan, may I introduce to you my daughter, Avalynn and my eldest son, Aiden." My father looked proud introducing us yet my mate didn't look too happy to see me. Far from it, in fact. He just gave my father a stiff nod.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both, Aiden and Avalynn." He bowed his head, sounding civil, and greeted. His voice gave me the feels and my name sounded incredible on his lips. I flushed red as I heard his deep and sensual tone.

Though immediately after that, he became cold and distant once more.

"Frankly, I have a lot of paperworks to finish and I still have to prepare for your stay here, so my Beta will assist and tour you to the pack house since I have no time to do so." He quickly dismisses us and walks away to direction of the pack house.

As expected, he is as cold as ice.

"Why is he always like this?" I muttered to myself. Does he hate everyone or is it just me?

A chuckle vibrated behind my back.

"I ask myself that everyday. He is the perfect case of serious with issues."

Immediately I spun around to the voice, facing a handsome man. "Good morning, my name is Beta Clark. Mason Clark." He smiled warmly. Looking very kind and trustworthy.

"Hello Beta Clark, I am Avalynn Claire Johnson. I am the Alpha's daughter." I greeted, and of course, always beaming with pride.

"Come on then, I'll tour you around the place." With that, my pack and I followed his lead.

Beta Clark showed us around and I was pleased to see that the Black Stealth pack had a lot of good facilities to train in. It was definitely diverse and more available to use. Despite being a cold hearted bastard, it's safe to say that my mate was a fair Alpha in the making.

"Okay, I apologize in advance but despite our pack house being really big in size, it can't fit you all. So the werewolves – especially the ones that have families–  will stay in the townhouses built in the place. Am I understood?" He asks.

There was a moment of silence. No one replied to his question so I did. "Yes, Beta Mason. Thank you for being very hospitable to us. I can't say the same for your Alpha though." I whispered the last part sarcastically but he heard it anyway.

I thought he was gonna get mad at me for disrespecting his Alpha, but he just chuckled and looked at me with mischief in his eyes.

"All right, everyone, please go to your respective places. Tomorrow we will train very early so must all reserve your energy and rest." My brother said in an authoritative tone.

And in an instant, they quickly dispersed. So, the only people that were present here were my brother, Beta Clark, and I.

"Now it's just us three, I'll show you around the place and escort you to your room." Beta Clark spoke sincerely.

I just nodded my head and followed his lead. We walked around a lot and when it was time, we first got to Aiden's room then he showed me to my room in the pack house.

"So, here we are." I opened the door to my room. "You better rest now; we have an upcoming bonfire later night. We celebrate it to welcome your pack." He announced.

"Thank you for everything. I'll talk to you later? Okay?" I told him.

"Sure. Bye." He smiled and walked away. With that, I closed the door.

The first thing I did was scan the room. It was nice that they prepared for our visit.

I can't believe I'm in my mate's pack! How am I going to act when I am around him?

I lay down on my bed, overthinking about things.

I almost felt asleep when I remembered, there was a bonfire to attend.

I got up from my bed and changed into something much more comfortable. Just a plain dress for the bonfire and used my everyday-flat sandals.

I went outside the room and proceeded to the living room. The view that I saw was quite nice. The people from my pack were mingling with the members from the Black Stealth pack.

'Your old pack mingling with your future pack.'

That sounded nice. In fact, it gave me a sense of pride and confidence. But I realized something... No matter how that sounded to my ears, I can never attain that since my mate would not even acknowledge me.

I went outside to see some of the pack members setting up the bonfire. With a match, they lit it up like a cigarette and thus, fire exploded. It looked pretty damn good.

"Hey, Avalynn." Beta Clark called out. I turned to him.

"Hey, Mason." I smiled in greeting.

"How do you like my pack so far?" He asks as I scanned my surroundings.

"It's pretty impressive." I chuckled. No doubt in that.

"Glad you liked it. I'm sure my Alpha would be pleased to hear you say that."

Immediately, I frowned when I heard him talk about my mate. I chose to ignore his words.

We strolled and sat on the huge log that surrounded the bonfire. While cozying up to the warmth of the heat, we chatted about a lot of things. And Beta Clark is hilarious. If I didn't have a mate, I would have fallen for him.

"Beta Clark, if you don't mind me asking, do you have a mate?" I asked curiously. A perfect guy like him surely would have a perfect woman in his arms.

He stopped and looked at me intently.

"I don't have one. I lost her years ago."

Oh damn.

"How did you?" I said in a squeaky voice. Damn it, I'm such a nosy bitch.

With my words, Beta Clark looked sad. Like he didn't want to talk about it. Somehow, I regret asking him already.

"I- I'm sorry. You don't have to an-"

I was cut off immediately.

"No, no, it's fine. I lost my loved one due to a rogue attack. It was also the attack where the former Alpha and Luna died." I became more curious to this.

I didn't know that my mate's parent's passed away. "I'm sorry for your lost." I said with sympathy. It's not right to lose a mate or the Alpha couple in a rouge attack.

"It's okay. It has been years already yet I can't seem to move on from her." I nodded in understanding.

"May I ask how you got a mate? Aren't you quite young to have a mate back then?" I questioned him.

"Good question. I guess I was pretty young back then but we couldn't question the moon goddess' plans."

Really? I am quite mad at the moon goddess for pairing me with a complete asshole.

At least he was lucky to have met his mate and maybe spent some loving time with her before her time.

"What about you? Have you found your mate yet?"

My thoughts drifted to Nolan. I found him yet he does not want me. He does not even acknowledge that I am his mate. Should I tell him?

"Yes, I have. Just recently might I add." I told him in all honesty.

"Oh, really..." Mason said trailing off. Maybe I should tell him the truth.

"Believe it or not, it's your Alpha, Nolan." I said silently, dropping my head down.

I see Mason's eyes widen.

"You are my Luna?" He asked through a whisper.

Yes and no.

"Technically, yes, but he does not even acknowledge me as a mate." I said, sadly.

"How could he? Ugh, my Alpha is quite dense and foolish." He groaned whilst I giggled.

"He does not know yet but I am sure he loves you. No one could resist their mates for so long."

"Apparently, I'm an exception. My mate does not want anything to do with me. He said so himself. I always thought I'd have a loving mate yet I got someone who does not even respect me." It hurt me saying these words.

Will the pain in my heart forever be there?

Beta Clark took hold of my hands. "I promise. I will help you guys work things out. I'll knock some sense into him if you want me to." I grinned.

"You don't have to. I want him to realize it on his own without getting beaten up." He let go of my hands and smiled at me. "Okay."

We sat near the fire. I see my mate parallel to Mason and I. He was looking directly to the fire and I have never seen anyone more handsome than that. His eyes held a blazing spark that could lighten up my dark days anytime and his face was radiated by the light making him glow like an angel.

I am so damn attracted to him that it hurts.

Why doesn't he want me? I sure as hell want him badly. Sometimes, they said that this should feel something like fire. The pain of rejection will hurt but then it will disperse. I do hope so.

I still somehow believe that everything gets better in the end.

One of the Black Stealth pack member passed me a plate full of food. I thanked him and proceeded to eat the food since I was quite hungry myself.

I then heard my mate's voice. There was a moment of silence. Now I realized how authoritative and powerful my mate was.

"Black Stealth, my home! You all know that the Silver Hill pack would be staying and training with us. Treat them all with respect if you may. We have an upcoming battle to prepare for and we need team work. Silver Hill pack? Make yourselves at home. We are to get along and train together with camaraderie. Lastly, welcome to the Black Stealth pack." After his announcement, everyone clapped and cheered.

I'm sure our packs would get along but what about us? Would we be able to love each other? What the hell is stopping him from accepting me?

With that, he told us to enjoy our stay and left to the direction of the woods. I was debating with myself. Should I follow him or not? In the end, I did go after him a few moments when he left. I will always be his follower.

I followed the trail of his manly scent and it led me deeper in the woods.

I shortly found him; he was punching the trees. He was letting his anger through the poor trunks. I was just there watching his back muscles flex.

He still doesn't know that I was behind him. Or so I thought.

"You can come out now. I know you are here somewhere."
