Chapter Four

Chapter 4
I woke up the next day feeling a little sick. You know that butterfly kind of feeling where you have no idea what's going to happen and you're actually kind of scared?

That's how I feel. I kissed Hayden. He's attractive and all, but I said before that we'd be good friends.

Friends.

All of this is just absurd. It's been two days now since I met these people, and I slept in a house with them and kissed them both.

I am 99% sure that the kiss with Hayden was because I was so overwhelmed with that was happening with Elliot.

So basically it's Elliot's fault.

I sat up and took my hair out of its insanely messy pony tail, throwing it into a much more neater one.

I then splashed some water onto my face in the bathroom, removing the slight mascara smudges I had under my eyes. I was ready.

Secretly I was hoping both of the boys were still asleep. It was 9am so I wasn't asking for much, most boys are asleep at this time. Right?

Apparently not all, as when I walked into the kitchen to greet my family and Christina and Ray, Hayden was sitting at the table, and Elliot was nowhere to be seen.

"We're going back to our cabin now, darling," my mum told me. "Just after a bit of breakfast."

I sat down next to Hayden, maybe avoiding him would be much more awkward.

Adia, Christina, and Ray soon joined us with a variety of cereals.

"Oh, I'm not hungry but thankyou," I smiled. I'm starting to think this ill feeling is much more than butterflies, I really do not feel well.

I didn't say anything, hoping that it would just pass. It didn't. Soon enough everybody went to go and get ready to leave, and it was just me as Hayden.

"Look, about the uhm-" I started.

"I know about your kiss with Elliot." He said, but he didn't seem angry?

"Look- I'm sorry, I-"

He cut me off again. "Me and Elliot tell each other everything you know? He likes you. Like likes you. I know he can be a dick at most times... All the time, but give him a chance."

I kissed him and he's talking to me about dating his brother.

"I've known him a day," I frowned.

"Well then get to know him," he advised.

"I don't know, I mean, I'd only see him for 6 weeks anyway."

"You'd be surprised what can happen in that amount of time."

***
I woke up about 3 hours later after going home and sleeping.

I felt even worse. The second day of holiday and I feel as ill as I've ever felt before.

My parents had gotten me some ice as it was already so hot in this place as it is. She had called off the reservations we had at a proper restaurant we were going to with our new "friends."

My mum guessed it was because of the country and temperature change, as where we usually went doesn't claim such high temperatures as this place.

My dad said maybe I'd eaten something wrong at Adia's because his sister is such a terrible cook.

Mums idea is more logical, however both mean that it's not contagious, which is good.

I heard a knock on the door and groaned. My head also hurt.

I heard the door open and Christina's voice sounded the cabin. Please say she did not bring her sons, as I am so not in the right state of mind for more people.

But again the world seems to be against me, as no more than 3 minutes later everybody was in my room, carrying gift baskets. I thanked Christina and Ray for the kind gesture.

"You know you didn't have to cancel your reservations, right? I'm okay on my own really, I might just sleep a bit."

"I'm not leaving you on your own, hunny!" My mum protested.

"We don't mind," Ray said.

"How about me and Elliot just stay and look after her? You guys go on, have a glass of wine each." Hayden said.

No. No. No. Stuck in a cabin with them two again? No.

My dad looked unsure as did the others, but with a bit of persuasion from Hayden, they soon agreed.

"Just call if any of you need anything, il make reservations again." Adia said. I haven't really gotten to talk to Adia much, I think we're going to have to do something together soon.

After many, "see you laters," and "feel better's!" They finally left.

"Well, I'll leave you two to it. I'm going home. Thank me later."

I lifted my head a little from the pillow as I watched him walk out the room.

"Hayden!" I whined.

"Do that mate and il tell mum," Elliot sounded like a 10 year old boy.

"Do that mate and il tell her it was you who smashed her favourite plate last month,"

We all know who had won that one.

Elliot huffed at his loss of the situation.

"Looks like I've gotta take care of you," he mumbled.

I'm honestly not that shy of a person. I'm not exactly the most confident, I can be insecure sometimes, I have flaws. But I'm not just gonna let the conversation we need to have just sit there.

"Elliot, you know Hayden told me."

"Told you what?" He asked, obviously playing dumb.

"You uh.. Like me." I said.

"What? He was lying then." He almost laughed. I can't exactly lie and say that didn't hurt.

Why would Hayden lie to me and play me like that? I look like a fool. "Oh, okay then. Sorry.." I looked away.

"Do you need anything?" He asked, changing the subject.

"There's soup in the cupboard," I hinted.

"On it,"

I smiled and lay my head back down. Maybe this won't be too bad, having a slave despite who that person may be.

How have I gotten myself into this mess already? It's a new record.

10 minutes later Elliot returned.

"You know you don't have the flu right? It's country change. You don't need soup," he grinned.

"I know, but you're doing it me anyway. It's a must have whatever type of ill you are!" I defended myself.

"Right.." He sarcastically argued.

"Just go get my soup," I ordered and he surprisingly followed it.

I ate my soup, or drank, could you say? He bought up random conversation topics like life back home, and school, and fish. He was talking about his pet fish. The kid had problems.

"How do you wanna be proposed to?" Again with the random questions. But this time, I actually thought about it.

"The place we met. Like, exactly the place. I'm a super romantic," I smiled.

"Mhm, if I was a girl I'd just want a diamond ring,"

"That too. Made of real diamond," I laughed. "You want to be married one day?"

"Well, yeah. I mean once I have my life on track and found the right girl, of course I do,"

"You don't seem like that type of boy.."

He shrugged. "Don't judge a book by its cover, then,"

"I'm not," I told him. "I'm judging by personality. Like, you seem like one of the boys to fool around with girls your whole life."

I realised what I had said too late. He looked a bit hurt.

"I don't fool around with girls, thankyou."

"I never meant it like that, i just meant I never took you for the serious type," I really was not helping myself.

"Really. Because you know me just so well." He looked kind of mad now.

"Actually, Violet you don't now me at all. Fooling around with girls? Sure, I've had a few girlfriends, haven't turned out to be anything special. But who hasn't?"

"I didn't mea-"

"What am I meant to do when the girl I like I met two days ago won't shut up about the fact I'm a fuckboy, or a narcissist asshole who loves himself?"

Wait, what?

"What do I do when she wont give me a chance? Or how about when my own brother tells the girl I like er and I have to lie about it because I barely know her and I'm scared of her reaction?"

Wow. Hayden wasn't lying.

"I- I never knew, I-I'm sorry.." It was silent for a few minutes.

"So what happens now?" I asked.

"What do you mean, what happens now? It goes to the way it was and we forget I ever said that, that's what."

"No- I guess.. I guess I could try and get to know you. Like, we could- uhm.."

Hope shined in Elliot's eyes.

"You mean that? Like, you'd be my girlfriend and see how it goes?"

So basically I have a boyfriend after two days of holiday?

Not bad Cloud, not bad.

Elliot smiled when I nodded slightly.

"I promise you won't be disappointed.. Get ready Violet for the 6 weeks of your life!"

Let's just hope I made the right decision.
