⠀⠀⠀↳ warrenliberato ⠀ if you're referring to bellamy as the other character, then yuppers! only differences are that jamie's symptoms are more 'obvious' and he's been medically diagnosed with ADHD whereas bellamy was hinted to have it in subtext/i was told to embody it for his character (my understanding is, bell never got officially diagnosed for obvious reasons. poverty, the games, the patriarchy & rebellion stuff to worry about... etc).

A/N.

.......surprise :-)))

as of writing this, i haven't watched season three of stranger things yet, static isn't even FINISHED, and revealing jamie is, well... a HUGE spoiler, but... i honestly don't care anymore. not about whether readers of static will stop reading knowing what's going to happen. not about whether people will be upset. this is what i wanna do, what makes the most sense. so you might be asking: what? creating jamie? that's it? and, well... it's not just about that. it's about reviving my love for thorn & his story as a whole. i haven't been able to get in his mindset/write for him because he's just... so sad. it breaks my heart. i started writing him during a rough spot in my life, and it bled through to him, and i don't want that for him. i want him to be happy.

i haven't updated nor loved static for 7 months now, and creating jamie has completely changed my mindset/inspired me, and i'm SO fucking excited to write for thorn again. i'm sorry thancy shippers, but over the past few months, i've grown to believe that nancy just... isn't what thorn needs romantically. first and foremost, he will always want her friendship. but what he will come to need in season 2 is.... jamie!!! thematically, the both of them will have to explore their sexualities in a time of repression against the LGBT+ community, and (though it will be confusing for them both) for jamie in particular, it will be literally life changing. jamie will also give thorn the love/support he's always been giving others but hasn't really gotten back himself, which (if you know anything about thorn) is SO important for him character-development-wise since he's always the one putting out and asking for nothing in return. so... yes. in book two, thorn will get a love interest/potential boyfriend and, above all else, a friend all in the form of jamie (and vice versa, as jamie sure as shit deserves to FINALLY find all of these things too. like my gay son just wants to hold a BOY'S hand that likes him back!!!). and so... yeah. thorn will finally get to be happy, y'know? just... good.

p.s: whatever you do do NOT listen to drive by the cars (aka the lyrics elliot & warren were yelling) knowing that it will be thorn and jamie's theme song (that's also integral to the plot). whatever you do DO NOT listen to it and picture thorn & jamie smiling at each other, dressed up in their fancy tux's onstage whilst doing a gig with their band at the snowball in 1984. do NOT picture thorn playing electric guitar whilst jamie plays acoustic and sings lead vocals, the both of them dancing a lil as they shred and generally feel happy because they just kissed backstage for good luck before coming on JUST DON'T ((pls do))

(also, shoutout to jamie's first official fans halli and kristyn for listening to me vent about him and, in turn, convincing me to make him into a reality instead of a "what if i cast froy in something ONCE AGAIN" fever dream of mine lol)
